OFFICIAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME THREAD

BLACK JERSEYS!

Home and Away Designations
Eastern Washington will be the home team for the championship game and will wear dark jerseys (black tops on black pants). The Eagles will occupy the west sideline at Pizza Hut Park and their fans will sit behind them on the same side as the press box. Delaware will be the visiting team and will wear light jerseys (white tops on gold pants). The Blue Hens will stand on the east sideline and their fans will sit behind them

Wow, this is awesome! I expected us to wear whites considering we were the 5 seed and Delaware the 3. Glad we'll be rockin' the black! I know the guys feel just a little extra swagger with those threads on, this is great.

There is something about all black uniforms - seems to make the team look larger in size.

BTW - people have been whinning about the red field, and although I absolutely despise Boise's blue turf, the red really isn't that bad. First time I ever watched a game on it was the Semifinal game and I thought it was pretty cool.

Checked http://www.goeags.com a couple of hours ago and there are still great seats left but hear we are close to selling our 1000 seat allocation. Looks like EWU fans are rallying to support their team. Also, check the video out at goeags.com, it is awesome. If it doesn't get you fired up for Frisco nothing will.

the cheerleaders are definitely going, have not heard the scoop on the band yet.
Hope they get some direction as to cheers. I have not been impressed with their leadership and motivation of the crowd.
ex: Is there a rule against the simple DE-- for one section and Fence--- for another?
Simply- NOISE is not leading anything.

I was wondering something - with the Divisional playoffs going on, any chance Michael Roos might make it to the NC game in Dallas? One would think he would attend if he didn't have any work commitments going on. It would be really good for the school and the team. Looks like a potential game the next day, but nothing firm.

How bout Rodney? Looks like he has a game on Saturday night the 8th in Philly, but nothing going on Friday.

I have heard that Roos will be there and be on the sideline for any added inspiration. I don't think Stuckey is going to make it but I would like to see an effort by the administration to make sure Cowhered is there. Go Eagles!!!

The reason that the NCAA made this call is that Delaware will bring a far larger contingent to Frisco (4,000 and counting) and the primary field camera will have the east stands and the Delaware continent in the background.

I was under the impression it was a flip of a coin.

on a side note. It's interesting how a lot of people assume EWU just has no fans because nobody cares about Eastern, but the difference is largely the number of alumni. EWU is at its largest ever enrollment of 11,000 students, University of Delaware has over 21k, multiply that by 50 years or however long the average lifespan of an alumnus is, it adds up pretty quickly.

NDSU has 14,500 students, considerably larger than EWU. When I started at ewu in 1999, we had around 9k students, just a few years before that, we only had 7k

I would be curious to know what the median enrollment of FCS schools are, I bet EWU is probably towards the bottom.

You are correct that insofar as enrollment and tradition (six national championships and a slew of NFL quarterbacks and other players) Delaware has a built-in advantage. But you guys didn't earn a trip to Frisco without a strong fan base and I can tell you that, the Vegas bookies and a very few UD supporters aside, we are taking the Eagles very seriously.

ya, winning six national championships doesn't hurt recruiting at all:)

6 National Championships? We're playing Delaware (2), not Georgia Southern. Unless someone is counting non-football or non-DI championships, 6 is a bit of an overstatement. Sort of like me telling a chick I'm bringing home 8 figures per annum... which would be true if you could count the decimals. Every good lie has a smidgeon of truth...

Well, it was the wire services that determined the earlier NCs and actual football games the latter NCs.

Incidentally, Delaware has been NC runner-up four times and won the Lambert Cup, which is given to the best Eastern FCS-level team, 15 times.

Oh, and word has it that Delaware's coach was just named FCS Coach of the Year.
