A bit early, but might as well start the thread. I'll be doing a co-tailgate party with a bunch of my OSU friends (and my parents are beavers). They are playing Texas tomorrow in the Alamo Bowl.

Do you follow the Beavs? What is their returning team supposed to look like next year?

loosely. both of the quarterbacks they had this year are returning, they've had a qb battle this year (partially to injuries though). depth chart listed here. http://oregonstate.rivals.com/cdepthtext.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

OSU looked good yesterday in the loss vs Texas...probably should have won that game. Loaded with athletic type players.

Lose three to graduation on offense and 5 on D. They looked good against Texas, but definitely beatable. It's cool to be done with the days where we were happy for a paycheck. We can hang with this team.

Boy, did Oregon State piss their pants last night. They could almost do no wrong in the first half but couldn't get any spread on the scoreboard. Then Texas just stopped worrying about containing the edge and sent their DEs barreling upfield every play, and OSU's QB never read it. How many games do you see a guy get sacked 10 times, pretty much by the same pass rush every time? I couldn't believe as this was happening over and over that they wouldn't just toss a little slant over the top of the DE and take off for about 60 yards... but they didn't. Mack Brown won't win too many coaching awards these days, but he and his crew flat out embarassed the Beavs. That one was ugly and will give a lot of fodder to the Pac-12 haters.

With narrow defeats to UW and WSU the past two season, it'd sure be nice to get over the hump and actually win one of these games. Sac State is 2-0 against the Pac-12 the past 2 seasons. That's recruiting material.

What good is beating pac-12 schools if you can't beat EWU (0-2 in the last two seasons:))? kidding! all in good fun of course! it's an impressive feat for sure!

Well, I wouldn't trade a NC or even a Big Sky title for a win against a Pac-12 school, but damn that is an impressive feat. They did what we couldn't do in 2008 against Colorado (pissed that one away in the last couple minutes) and then of course the 2011 Washington heart-breaker and this year against WSU. I just want to beat one of these damn teams...unfortunately I don't know if it will be what should be a very good OSU team in 2013.

I still think had we played WSU at any point from 2007-2010 we'd of won half those games.

Sac State really helped the overall perception of the Big Sky, and for that I'm thankful. But even the most die-hard Hornet supporter will have to admit they benefitted from some pretty advantageous scheduling, whereas Eastern has not. Only the WSU game this year would have appeared in the "winnable" category. That 4-point loss was even a wider margin than our loss last year by 3 to Alamo Bowl team UW and our 2-point loss to eventual Fiesta Bowl Champ (and #4 team) Oregon State in 2001.

In contrast, Sac State beat Oregon State during their worst year of the last decade and Colorado, who despite beating WSU, were probably the least talented team in the Pac-12 this year.

All true points, but still Pac-12 wins nonetheless. It'd be nice for us to benefit from some advantageous scheduling for once.

We would have won 2 years ago in Sac if we had a kicker (not having a kicker easily cost us 2 wins that season).

As far as advantageous schedule, we were on the road for 5 of the first 6 in 2011 and these FBS money games are lined up years in advance. I agree we got lucky in hitting CU in possibly their worst season ever and OSU in a rebuild year, but we could have just as well hit them on the upswing. Having said that, I'll take a win over a well funded Pac-12 program any day of the week.

No doubt.

And to be fair, you DID have a kicker in that game. He just sucked at kicking the ball. I' trying to forget 2011, although that was a pretty epic game, along with the Cal Poly one, both on the road.

No we didn’t have a kicker; we had a guy whose brother was a good kicker so the coaches thought the talent would transfer over via osmosis. Hell we even stopped kicking PAT’s he was so fvcking bad. :ohno:

So I've been sniffing around and this is what I've got so far.

Defensively: From the sounds of it Oregon State has a good running game, but a poor passing game. We need to load the box and hope our secondary can provide good enough coverage and, hopefully, some picks.

Offensively: Oregon State loses a lot of their D-line and is returning young. However, their secondary is solid. This will give Adams lots of time, but we probably won't be getting any big plays.
