Oregon State

what does everyone think, is this the year the Eags finally get over the hump and beats one of these teams?

If we can't figure out a way to stop the run with any level of consistency, then no.

Versus UW and WSU the past couple of years, I actually thought we matched up very well with both of those teams in the skill positions. I think the big thing is just size and depth along the offensive and defensive lines. We need to be able to run the ball some, and contain it on 1st and 2nd downs without giving up a bunch of yards.

Timing is everything.
This team against the Cougars, we win. The homer in me wants to say we WILL win but the realist says if we play good and keep it close that will be a moral victory. The Beavers are certainly a class above the Cougars even though they are in the same conference. Similar to the Eagles vs the Bengals.
Against the Toledo Rockets, they will have had a couple of weeks to look at film and game plan against us so we will not be sneaking up on anyone.
I am certainly no expert but I think this team is being overlooked by other Big Sky fans.
Look out!! Here comes THE EAGLES!

Just picked up my tickets through the Alumni Association today. Glad the game is at 3pm versus the noon start time at the WSU game.

Put my name on a couple last week. We live in Spokane and will be going over on Friday. When is everyone else going?

I'll take a healthy team coming out of September period. Playing UW in 2011 ended EWUs season with all the injuries on the off line. No point in pulling the upset if EWU doesn't have their best players available going into October when the games really count. Win the BS again and the Sept record doesn't matter.

I think a healthy team would make any coach happy... well most coaches anyway, sometimes an excuse is a good thing.
Anyway, it is not my impression that the injuries were solely because of the Husky game. We lost at least one linemen at each of the first 4 games. I believe we only lost one man in the Husky game. Could be wrong on that one.

clawman,
I worry every year of the injuries we come up with before the Big Sky Games are available. I think our team will hold its own against any team we plays. Off the subject: Went and visit the Campus today, noticed there was work going on by the Water Tower in the Back of the Roos Field. I asked one of the workers what was going on? He stated they are putting in some more parking for Football, etc.How many I don't know. It was good news to my ears :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:. I must have fell behind, I didn't know they were putting in more parking, I found out today it was in Cheney Free Press, or The Easterner.
Also work are going on behind the scenes reference "Gateway Project" Hope something get started before long.   Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

I read up a little on Oregon State and I'm not feeling so good about this game. In fact, matchup-wise, this might be the toughest team for us in the whole Pac-12 outside of probably Stanford and Oregon. They want to play power football and come right at us, and Lord knows we have not been dealing with the run well for a few years now. I think we're going to have to play safeties and LBs way up to make stops, and that too has been a problem formation for us on defense for a long time. Breaking in a mostly-new LB corps against this kind of team is a trial by fire of epic proportions. And although we have a lot of talent defensively, the question mark will be the depth... so a team that just keeps banging increases the chance of injury.

I'm glad we're playing the 2013 Beavers instead of last year's. OSU has no replacement (yet) for the departed Wheaton and Poyer who were very, very good. On defense, their linebackers are still good, but their D line is a question mark. The addition of Tevin McDonald should help our defense a lot, and hopefully keep their offense on the ground. We were able to give up 400 yards of rushing against Montana last year and still win. If I were Baldwin, I would do all I can to make the Beavers run the ball too. Mannion's not going anywhere, so sit back and let their offense come to you. The Beavs are not the Bearkats. When Vernon takes over on offense, open the playbook and keep OSU guessing. The cool half million or so we'll earn will look a lot better with a W attached.

93bird,
I agree with everything you stated. I saw another 7 on 7 yesterday, we had approximately 35-40 Players that showed. Wednesday will be the last until Aug 6th an 7th when the Freshmen reports on the 6th, everyone else reports on the 7th. We are going to have a team we can be proud of.   The 9 recruits that are here working out looks very impressive, they are still young, but with good coaching they will be great providing no injuries. Shaquille Hill came in yesterday for the 1st practice, haven't lost a step, he was training in California while he was gone. I am debating if I want to make that ride to Oregon. Four games will be televised, if this one is, I think I will stay home and watch it on TV. Heard Zach Johnson got married, when and where unknown. Glad for him, hope he finds some team to pick him and give him a try :thumb: :thumb: , him and his brother I really enjoyed watching them play for the Eagles, outstanding Athletes. Big Jacob Rodgers was the only OL that showed yesterday. Will be working on some things so he can be ready for when training starts. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Not being a golfer apparently I have to buy tickets from Stub Hub or ??

Still good seats available in section 12, the Eagle side.

clawman,
I taught the blog had closed down. No one was on as of 18th July after I posted until yesterday, which was 93bird. Tomorrow is the last 7 on 7 @ 5pm, I drove out there today about 545pm, QB Conner Richardson and receivers were getting it on, I counted about 11. It seems as if the same individuals goes to 7 on 7 twice a week. As of Monday there were approximately 6 or 7 Recruits that haven't shown up as, maybe Aug 6th they will all come out, that is the ones that will not be p48. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

I've never been to Reser. Is it OK to sit in row 1 behind the team or is it advisable to get up some rows?
I am most interested in seeing the action.

Does this make a difference on Aug 31?

Doubt it. From what I've read he wasn't even on the three deep.

So, is there any way to get tickets thru EWU so we can be sure we are in the EWU section? Just the tickets...
