Projected bracket

So for locks and teams that should be in I've got 4 at-large from the MVFC, 4 from the Big Sky, and 1 each from the CAA, SOCON, AQ7, and Southland. That leaves only 1 left and I think there will be teams from the MVFC, CAA, and SOCON along with FAMU in contention for that last spot. I think URI out of the CAA is in the driver's seat for the last spot. So, like I mentioned earlier, the bubble is looking pretty tough. Here's my crack at the bracket projecting what will happen in the final week (which will no doubt be horribly wrong) - autobid denoted with an *:

Mercer (7-3) @ Southeastern Louisiana* (9-2) to #1 Sam Houston* (10-0)
Incarnate Word (9-2) @ Stephen F Austin (8-3) to #8 Missouri St (8-3)

Sacramento St (8-3) @ South Dakota St (8-3) to #5 Eastern Washington (9-2)
Rhode Island (8-3) @ Holy Cross* (9-2) to #4 James Madison (10-1)

South Dakota (7-4) @ Montana (8-3) to #3 North Dakota St* (10-1)
Sacred Heart* (8-3) @ UC Davis (9-2) to #6 Villanova* (9-2)

Davidson* (8-2) @ Kennesaw St* (10-1) to #7 East Tennessee St* (10-1)
UT-Martin* (10-1) @ Southern Illinois (8-3) to #2 Montana St* (10-1)

My last 4 in, in no particular order would be Mercer, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Stephen F Austin. My first four out, in no particular order, would be Chattanooga, FAMU, UNI, and VMI. Discuss away.

I get that part but when does the bidding part come into play?

Bidding is only an issue with unseeded teams. The top 8 open at home and play on the home field of the higher seed throughout the tournament. If two unseeded teams play each other, the team with the higher "purse bid" plays at home.

That said.. and God Willing we best PSU and don't have to worry about it, I believe bids start the week before the last weekend of games. In other words, bids are being submitted starting today.

Does anyone have a sense of what the field’s looking like after today’s results? Does the BSC still get 5 in?

I think we’re a lock for a seed and a first round bye. My guess is we’ll face Sa St. the following week since we didn’t play them in the regular season.

I admit, I'm lost with regard to all the seeding scenarios. Gonna focus on the EAGS basketball game tonight and let the "expert panel" do their magic for the football seeding.

Just "getting in" is a lot different than getting seeded. I feel the BSC will get 4 in the playoffs the big question is how many will be seeded? Sac State being the conference champ certainly has a claim to a seed. Montana St has a good argument for a seed with a 9-2 record. Montana beat everyone but us and Sac State so they feel deserving. We are 9-2 losing to MSU and beat Montana. One of our wins is to a DII team. I could see Montana seeded ahead of us, their loss to us and conference champ State is better than our loss to Weber and MSU whom they clobbered today.
Sac St
Mt State
Mont EWU
We should get a bye the first week but a 6-8 seed.

I really think that Montana, Montana st and Ewu will all get seeds, and likely something silly like 5,6,7.

I feel bad for Sac St for doing everything right but getting no respect, they’ll be playing with a chip on their shoulder , but I kind of doubt they steal a big sky seed, but if they do it will likely be from us, it’s in the NCAAs interest to have Bozeman and Missoula completely packed compared to our dismal attendance.

You could analyze Eastern, MSU, Montana, and Sac State until you're blue in the face. For every reason why one team should be above another, there's an equally good reason why they shouldn't.

If rankings hold, we probably wind up 5 or 6. I'm not sure the results from today benefit Eastern much.

I wonder if having Montana AD Kent Haslam(represents the BSC) on the selection committee could come into play? I'd like to have Lynn Hickey on the selection committee.

* I remember not that long ago we were ranked fairly high and din't make the field and we got left out. when was that? think i'm still really pissed about that...lol...not sure if they pay that much attention to rankings from what i remember. we were clearly robbed...man, when was that?

Aaron Best’s first year. We finished 7-4 with 4 wins to end the year. Losses to Texas Tech and #1 North Dakota State in the first two games. I believe we were ranked #16 and the committee put an unranked NAU team and left us out. They promptly lost badly at home to San Diego.

Dopa you nailed it, could remember 16. and that we finisded extra hot end of season. Weren"t they taken 24 teams then as well?
oh well we got screwed I remember the sick feelin and then the pissed feelin.

IMO, the Big Sky will get five teams in. UCD still has a better win/loss record from a better conference than other teams vying for a spot. There are so many bubble teams that lost today, it could be interesting to see who the last teams in are, and there's a lot of believe a 6-5 UNI team has a great chance to be in as a 6th MVFC team.

The part I'm concerned about is how the Montana win today may have bumped us out of a seed. I think that first round bye and home game is critical, but with the Griz dominating the Bobcats today, that win will be fresh in the committee's minds. It's hard for me to see the committee not rewarding the Big Sky champs Sac State, who also beat UM with a seed. And MSU was one of the top three or four seeds, and beat us at home, so I can't imaging them dropping out of the seeds. I think out best chance is to be an 8 seed, but think the committee will choose a different conference to spread things around. From what I'm reading, there's a lot of thought ETSU will snag that eighth seed. I hope that's wrong!

The more I look at yesterdays results, (too much) I'm afraid Montana's domination of MSU and our mediocre win over average PSU will sway the committee to place Mont ahead of us. We may end up with a 8 seed. Not that that is all bad, I'd rather play Sam Houston early rather than NDSU.
