After viewing what UNC is paying, they must go with someone from the present staff. How do you get a staff to come live in Greeley for what they are paying. Coach Dieti or Coach Petersen will and should be the new coach.

If Deti or Petersen is named the new head coach you might as well shut down the program. Attendance will suffer even further because that hire will excite no one. I also don't think they have what it takes to turn the program around.

Also everyone bragging on Deti's coordinating might want to check the stats again. Scoring defense 7th, total defense 5th, and rushing 8th in the conference does not show me anything that great.

Those stats can be misleading (if the offense goes 3 and out all the time then their stats were always going to suck).

Also, I don't care who they hire, the attendance won't bounce back 'till they start winning some games.

I agree with you on Deti's stats and I have no favorites for the HC yet ! But what burns my ass is the total pessimistic apathetic bunch that comment on here. I surely would not want you on my team! Maybe just maybe if some people would get a little bit more optimistic around here, they might realize that they can do their small part and help turn this program around !! Go Bears!

The naming of a head coach will not make much of a difference, crowds will return when they start winning once again. This team indeed in not far away, witness the games against E. Washington, & Montana st. Just need a HC to make better game ajustments and show more fire. To me that was Downings weakness. Go Bears!

was a player under Coach Deti and we would be lucky to get him to be the next HC. In the last few years under Deti the defense has finished in the top half of the league which is good since our record sucked each year. He works his ass off and so do the other coaches on defense. He's not afraid to rip someones ass when you dont do it right and be on your ass until you get it right. He would put everything he has into this to get some wins...and from what ive heard a lot of the players would support him if he gets the job.

Completely agree, was a former player as well! He wouldn't settle for losses!
It would be similar to what has happened for the Cowboys since firing Wade Phillips!

It's hard to argue with two former players who say Deti's the man. I'm sold too!

Oh My! Tom Beck would never approve!

I think if Hinrichs wanted Deti or Peterson he would have already made the hire. I guess since we have some players on here we can ask the same thing we did for Downing. If you loved playing for the guy so much why didn't you play better for him? Why couldn't you stop the run and play better against the pass? The defense has always been solid under Deti but never great. I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good head coach, but does his defense warrant a promotion? I'm not 100% sold on this.

as seen on footballscoop.com......ok here's five 'colorado guys' that need a job, maybe don't want to move away, surely could recruit colorado, have affiliations with biddel already, and most important, could put together a winning team at his level...... they cetainley could point us in a better direction than we are in today. and, we might get away with our lower class pay scale to grab a couple of these guys.........

Colorado: Ron Collins (Defensive coordinator), Kent Riddle (Tight ends / special teams coordinator), Denver Johnson (Offensive line), Romeo Bandison (Defensive line), and Robert Prince (Wide receivers) have been told they will not be retained.

lets move forward jay, stop the bleeding, we cannot just sit on our hands for much longer...........

an article in the trib today lists a 19 member search committee: http://www.greeleytribune.com/article/20101207/SPORTS/712079946/1012&parentprofile=1010. Honestly, if we're expecting anything quickly from a 19 member search committee - it ain't going to happen.

UNC doesn't have the $$ to steal someone off of another school's wish list, so taking a few weeks isn't going to leave us with a candidate that we wouldn't have gotten anyway. It does hurt recruiting and that's where the need for speed lies.

Urban Meyer? There'd be less stress at UNC because we all know Greeley people are pretty laid back about their sports teams.

Northern Colorado: We hear Northern Colorado has talked with Mike Breske (Montana – defensive coordinator), Bob Stitt (Colorado School of Mines – head coach), John Wristen (Colorado State Pueblo – head coach), Earnest Collins Jr (Alcorn State – head coach), and Bill O’Boyle (Chadron State – head coach). Our source tells us more formal interviews will take place with these candidates.
