Massey has Eastern as a 17 point favorite with an 89% chance of winning. Assuming it has updated it's algorithms since Saturday. 38-21.

It's true, I want the Eagle fans to be up for this game and feel good about the teams chances before the contest begins. One Maine fan said, "throw out the records"; let's throw out the past semi-final records. This team is under NEW MANAGEMENT from the AD down to the HC and has proven itself capable this season. Ask yourself, does this feel like teams from the past 8 years?

I only care what happens right now. Would love another Championship and this week Eastern has to go through Maine to get it.

In the FCS ranks for EWU (only includes the FCS record, no CWU or WSU):
Ranking: 4 Record 10-1
Schedule: 11 PF-PA: 491-211
Offense: 4 Per Game: 44.6-19.2
Defense: 11

Maine FCS only:
Ranking: 10 Record 9-2
Schedule: 28 PF-PA: 316-232
Offense: 25 Per Game: 28.7-21.1
Defense: 17

Massey has been wrong about Maine approximately 74 times this year (that's what it feels like). I wouldn't put much faith in those algorithms...too many injury outliers this year skewing the data.

This game WILL be close. Not saying Maine will win but take the points if you area a gambler.

If I told you back in Sept that EWU would lose their starting LT, Gage, Calhoun, Fettig, Custer would play maybe half the season....what are the chances they'd be in the semis

Kudos to Coach BB and staff two years ago for the recruiting classes they brought in before he left.

So much more speed and depth on defense.

Maine is legit. Their #6 on defense looks like an nfl type player.

Expect a low scoring game going into the 4th.

Hello Eagles fans and thanks for having me on the board. Life long Maine fan here.. fantastic year for us and I am looking very much forward to Saturday. Looks like I won't be able to make it which is disappointing. Lots of statistical breakdown and analysis here which is great. One thing I would add about Maine is most of the stats are not completely meaningful. Firstly, lots of injuries early this year which really skew the data. Secondly, the team is just playing at a totally different level than earlier. Lots of young players that have matured and jelled through the season. Losses at Yale (team decimated..starting QB and RB out) and W&M (not explainable...team still figuring it out) feel like years ago. If you look at the last six weeks, it really is a different team.

Game will come down to one simple thing. Can the stout Maine D hold the fast EWU offense. Maine offense is what it is... we are going to score some points (my guess 21-24). If the EWU offense performs better than Weber than EWU will win. If Maine contains, pressures, and forces your QB into mistakes, Maine will win. I can't wait.

My prediction:

University of Maine Black Bears 24,
Eastern Washington Eagles 20

This is our prediction thread, so Massey is just another tool and has been surprisingly accurate for the BigSky season the last 4 weeks, not as much in the playoff's. So many other factors. Every team has had injuries and few FCS level schools can sustain too many of their key players going down. Maine also got a pass on the other top teams in the conference and took advantage of it. That's just good mojo. Now your team has played up for the playoff games. Tough to do that back to back to back.

Don't know about your team, Eastern also had finals last week and I think it showed. Every team faces that in deep runs too. Agree the last several weeks Maine looks like a different team. It wouldn't surprise me to see Eastern go off, some of that will depend on our RB situation. The Maine D front seven looks good and I liked the one DB #24? I think. That's 8 against 11   Wish I was sorry for the Eags having to take advantage, but I'm not. ;-) They play the games for a reason and a good D can keep a team in it. Efficiency on offense may not get it done in the face of Eastern's defensive strengths. I think Maine leads in TFL's but Eastern leads in defensive TD's.

One interesting factor is EWU has won a lot of blowouts. This obviously speaks to the skill of the team. Maine on the other hand is battle tested. Many close games in and out of the CAA including the playoffs. could make a difference near the end of the game. Wish we could just fast forward to Saturday.

Man, I'm getting nothing done this week- too excited. Anyone else?

Adding the Red Zone to my list of visited websites is having a negative effect on my professional productivity.

Eastern won a lot of close games in the other years making the semi final too.. Understand your position. There is another way to view those blowouts... Eastern's defense and special teams caused all those blowouts and the opportunistic, fast and deep offense took advantage of short fields and TO's. Even in last weeks contest, which was close down to the last minute; the offense had 16 chunk plays of 10 yds or better, UC Davis had 10 chunk plays. Eastern won yds/play 7.1 to 6.1 against the top passing offense in the conference and looked bad doing it... In the blowouts, Eastern looked good; very, very good.

Expect a battle.. (maybe Chuck Norris's best film and great fight; Eastern is Chuck Norris 8-) )

My prediction is the Eagles will win by three on a last drive and FG kick by Roldan Alcobendas
That was the politically correct prediction, here is how I really feel.
If we can't bury these guys by at least three TD's we don't have a snowballs chance in hell of beating either of the Dakota schools in Frisco.
Go Eagles!!!

How about RA faking a last second field goal to tie and throwing a winning TD to Belk instead? A la UNI a few years ago. I would prefer the drama.
