Aug 29: @NAU - Loss
NAU weren't amazing but they won 7 games and Best teams suck on the road.

Sep 05: vs. UNI - 50/50
UNI sucks, EWU sucks, we'll see who sucks less. We lost last year... at home.

Sep 12: @South Dakota - Loss
Easy loss on the road to a team that went 10-5 last year in the Missouri Valley.

Sep 19: @UW - Loss
Hopefully not too embarrassing.

Sep 26: vs. Cal Poly - Win
At home, Cal Poly has new coaching staff.

Oct 03: @UC Davis - Loss
9-4 team that went to the playoffs, away game.

Oct 10: vs. UNC - Win
Historically bad team at home.

Oct 17: vs. MSU - Loss
Playing the national champs at home, should be embarrassing.

Oct 31: vs. Montana - Loss
I actually think this might be close but they usually pull out the win. Plus their new DC is our old DC.

Nov 07: @Idaho - 50/50
Either close or a beat down in the Kibbie Dome

Nov 14: @Utah Tech - 50/50
They didn't seem that great last season but it is an away game.

Nov 21: vs. PSU - 50/50
It was close last year and they got a new coaching staff from CWU.

So two wins, four 50/50 which works out to about 4 wins, maybe 5.

Anyone know what game is homecoming? Hopefully UNC and not Montana State.

Homecoming is against Northern Colorado the week of October 10th.

I just tried to find the "Game Notes" where the two deep is listed and its not posted yet.

I'll take a shot at the predictions. I will base my picks on the Eags offense having a returning O-line with experience, two solid QB's in Bell and Schakel and Rolfesness having experience as well, lots of upside at RB with an experienced Dotson being the leader, and an up and coming recieving core with Branch having star potential. I believe the Eags D will be improved. I like the size up front with La'ulu listed at 333#, and Perez listed at 299#. It's been a while since we've had big physical hole pluggers up front. Our LB's are much more experienced, and our DB's might be the best unit on the team led by S Jaylon Jenkins. Special teams should be solid as well.

Aug. 29 @ NAU. Win Eags 34 NAU 27
NAU is the 4th or 5th best Big Sky team. I believe we are 4 or 5 as well. Eags off to a great start on the road.

Sep 5 vs. UNI. Win Eags 38 UNI 20
UNI is a lower end Missouri Valley team and we are still tough to beat on the red.

Sep 12 @ South Dakota Loss Eags 24 South Dakota 27
Tough loss on the road to a playoff team. Eags will be very competive.

Sep 19 @ Washington Loss Eags 10 Washington 48
The Huskies are next level and we aren't the upset specialists we used to be. Hope we stay healthy after this game.

Sep 26 vs Cal Poly Win Eags 48 Cal Poly 17
Eags win Big on the red over a rebuilding Cal Poly team.

Oct 3 @ UC Davis Loss Eags 20 UC Davis 30
Tough road game for the Eags against a top 3 Big Sky team. Close but Davis pulls away.

Oct 10 vs UNC Win Eags 52 UNC 13
Eags offense gets rolling against a bottom tier UNC team.

Oct 17 vs MSU Loss Eags 24 MSU 33
Tough game against one of the best teams in the nation. Eags make it hard on the red.

Oct. 24 Bye

Oct 31 vs Montana Win Eags 38 Montana 35
Halloween night on the red. The Griz have only won once on our turf. Bad voodoo for the Griz.

Nov 7 @ Idaho Win Eags 38 Idaho 27
Eags get on a roll after big win vs Montana. Eags are better than Idaho and impose their will.

Nov 14 @ Utah Tech Win Eags 41 Utah Tech 23
Road game against a low end Big Sky team. Eags are humming.

Nov. 21 vs. PSU Win Eags 42 PSU 17
The Damn cup goes to Eastern as we gear up for our first playoff birth in a while.

The Eagles finish 8 - 4 and go into the playoffs on the road as the 4th team out of the Big Sky. I'm genuinely excited for this season.

I'm not as hopeful. We got a DC with no experience. I don't know if he has even play called before and may have totally retooled the defense around a DB heavy scheme which the defense will have to get used to. Our star DT transferred to WSU and best CB graduated as well as one of the best LB. One of the starter DE transferred too. Lost quite a few weapons on the offense as well to the portal and graduation. But honestly its not the players I'm worried about but the coaches.

Yeah, 7-5 seems ambitious at this point, but I am hopeful in that our defense should be relatively good and the offense is basically the same, but with more experience under their belts.

Go big or go home I guess.

Going with a 5-7 record. I don't see a ton of room for improvement this season unless our offense is leaps and bounds above where they were last year. And I'm not sure we have the personnel there to support such a claim.

This is a somewhat optimistic take and not really based on anything other than a feeling that we may actually turn things around some this season.

Aug 29 @ NAU - WIN.

I see this as a 50/50 game to start the season with both teams with a lot of question marks. I will take the EAGS in a close one.

Sep 05 vs. UNI - WIN.

I haven't done much research on UNI, but will take the EAGS at home in another close contest.

Sep 12 @ South Dakota - LOSS

Could be close if Eastern has some momentum coming into this game, but I think USD will be upper tier in the MVFC this year and will take them at home.

Sep 19 @ UW - LOSS

I'll be at this one. I'd just like to keep it somewhat respectable and get out of Seattle without a bunch of injuries.

Sep 26 vs. Cal Poly - WIN

Probably another 50/50 game with the EAGS having the slight advantage at home.

Oct 03 @ UC Davis - LOSS

UC Davis will be top 3 in the Big Sky again this season. I don't see us beating them on the road.

Oct 10 vs. UNC - WIN

EAGS will win by 2 TD's.

Oct 17 vs. MSU - LOSS

Eastern will play them tougher than most expect, but probably lose by around 14-21 points.

Oct 31 vs. Montana - WIN

Will the EAGS make the most of the bye week? I think they will, and we'll get our first W over the Griz 4 years.

Nov 07 @ Idaho - LOSS

I actually think we'll drop this one on the road after a big W at home the previous week.

Nov 14 @ Utah Tech - WIN

We'll welcome them to the conference with a resounding win on the road.

Nov 21 vs. PSU - WIN

50/50 game on the road. I think we'll win our final regular season game to get playoff eligible.

Overall record: 7-5 and a bubble playoff team.

A 7-5 or even an 8-4 record is plausible, but we absolutely have to start the season off on the right footing, and that means winning our first two games. We will also need to finish strong to closeout the season where we will probably need to win at least 3 of our 4 remaining games.

Aug 29 EWU @ NAU: 31-24

Sep 05 EWU vs. UNI: 24-21

Sep 12 EWU @ South Dakota: 21-38

Sep 19 EWU @ UW: 14-54

Sep 26 EWU vs. Cal Poly: 38-24

Oct 03 EWU @ UC Davis: 17-38

Oct 10 EWU vs. UNC: 35-10

Oct 17 EWU vs. MSU: 20-42

Oct 31 EWU vs. Montana: 35-32

Nov 07 EWU @ Idaho: 31-28

Nov 14 EWU @ Utah Tech: 34-24

Nov 21 EWU vs. PSU: 42-21

Overall record: 8-4
Big Sky record: 7-2
PF: 342
PA: 356
