Predictions EWU 10 @ Texas Tech Gigillion Wk 1

:ohno: Bam! New season is upon us. Many off season changes in the coaching staff, some attrition and graduating a great WR trio make this season more speculative then many in recent memory.

What do we know? Eastern is deep by FCS standards and believe it's going to really show up on the defensive side of the ball this year. We have got playmakers all over the field on defense. Offensively, haven't cared for the reporting on GG's indecisiveness and know there is enough OL and skill position talent to make any opposing defense cry like a baby. New OC has a big job getting everyone on the same page and only a few days left to do it. Believe once the team hits the field for real this Saturday, it will all come back to them.

TT is undersized by FBS standards, fast, runs the same offense as Leech and has a new QB. Don't think their defense is very good with exception at LB (per TexasTech fan posting). This is certainly winnable.

If this was last years team against this years TT, I would predict a 20 point EWU win. With everything in the air on offense, our defense keeps us in the game with 3 TO's and a couple of stops. 4.5 sacks and 10+ hurries won't hurt either. Think we fall behind early as offense sputters and get back in with stellar defensive effort. Take the under. Looking for a break out game from Pierce, Custer and McPherson at RB

EWU 40 -- TT 38
What can I say? I'm a homer inspite of a great deal of trepidation

With so much change and uncertainty surrounding both programs, I feel like predictions for this game are akin to drunkenly thrown darts. Good thing I received a degree in the former...

Eastern Eagles - 31
Texas Technical Difficulties - 28

I am doubting the high scoring game, they are breaking in a new QB and our defense is HUNGRY. All that said I wouldn't be shocked by a 28-24 or 31-28 type score, either team could win on the last drive.

Hoping our D comes up with a huge statement stop to end it.

EAGS 38 Texas Tech fighting Buddy Holly's 28

Tech scores on their last drive to pull within a fg. Eags go on a 5 minute scoring drive to put it away.

Wow, hope you guys are right! Not sure this is realistic for us to now just casually predict EWU will stroll into a 60K seat stadium and beat a FBS power conference team. I think we need to be a little more level headed here. Losing that trio of WR's we lost is going to massively impact the Offense. I think we battle and wont be embarrassed but, being real and not a homer, i say 37-20 Texas Tech.

Have you been scouting our receivers?

I think it will be a close game throughout. By the time they realize "hey these guys are pretty good" we'll have a nice lead and they will be playing catch up. Our D is strong against their passing game and they will be forced to try to run which is not their strength. They will close the gap and get close to our 38 points but only to 35.
Eagles 38-35

I don't know that they will take us that lightly. We've played the FBS strong enough long enough that we are one of those FCS teams FBS teams take seriously. I don't think many FBS teams take NDSU lightly anymore. I just think the top of the FCS can compete with a lot of FBS teams. Heck, even in the losses, there are quite a few competitive games. The real difference between the top of the FCS and the middle of the FBS is dept.

That being said, we are that good, and we can win this game, even when we are not taken lightly.

BTW, is anyone else getting the wierd qotation glitch?

What does the stadium capacity have to do with anything?? Also the Big 12 has seen better days. What a great conference, but it's not the SEC.

Tough one to call. I would say the TT is worse than WSU was last year, and we completely controlled them. However, Coop and Ebukam were absolute monsters against WSU.

I give us the benefit of the doubt with a score of 33-31. I think we sink field goal after field goal.

Consensus says, We have a really good football team with athlete's at every position.

Sensing that we aren't sure how it has come together with all the changes in the coaching staff and the loss of some key senior leaders.

This prediction thread is a crap shoot for sure. Going with the head or heart is probably a good choice either way. I don't gamble so don't think in terms of $$$; but am a talent match up freak and that has guided my choices the most historically. Went heart on this pick.

Forgot to mention the biggie for getting a win; as long as we take care of the ball, this will be a close one. If we don't; then it will be tough to get a W.

Keep your thoughts on the game coming and Go Eags!

Jason;
Are you familiar with the Cougars? OSU Beavers? Even the Huskies got quite a scare by our Eagles. Even if their stadium has a capacity of 60k if it is not full what is that worth?

Unfortunately. I don't think our offense is good enough to keep up with a team like Tech.

Our offense isn't going to be as good as last year's by any means but I don't think anyone is going to score 54 points on this defense. Won't happen. I'm going with the Eags 35 and Texas Tech 34

Agreed. I think our defense is going to be pretty good but on the offensive side of the ball we do have a few question marks.

I don't understand why everyone is so nervous about our offense. I don't think the scrimmage results can be used to predict what this offense will do in a game. The OL is essentially intact from all of the starters from last year, we are loaded with talented returning running backs, Terrence Grady is back at WR with Splendorio, Stiles, Webster and Williams. We are solid at TE with Belk, Byus, Gilder and freshmen Talolo Limu-Jones who will be an All American in the future. Oh, and don't forget the best QB in FCS. This offense is going to kick ass!
