Wake up call Eagle fans.

This will not be a fun trip, it is going to be a booty blasting. I know you all are very excited because you had some good receivers last year, but that won't do you much good this year. Your offense MAY be able to put up 28-31 points throughout the course of the game against our terrible defense- that may be too generous, though.

Tech offense will have too much depth and your defense will be gassed by the middle of the third quarter. This is the best group of receivers Tech has had since 2007, and your DBs will not be able to match up. EWU is good for a cute win against an FBS team every once in a blue moon, so I know you all have convinced yourself that "if A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, & I go our way, we will win this game!!!!"

Just here to bring you guys back to reality land so your feelings aren't super hurt Saturday evening. Hope you don't make the long cross country trip expecting to win just to see a one-sided smackdown. If you do however, I recommend going to Spanky's across from campus and indulging in some fried cheese. I know you hippies up in the Northwest don't eat much besides seafood and kale.

I digress..........Tech wins this one 58-27. Thanks for the tune up game!

Guess we gave y'all too much credit.

Congrats to Tech! Your defense showed great poise dropping all those passes that hit EWU WRs in the hands. I expect you guys to have an impressive year. 6-6 at least! :thumb:

I think y'all are underestimating Tech.
I know y'all caught WSU by surprise, but no one at Tech is sleeping on EWU.
I think depth is going to be a big factor. Also look at what we did to ASU, OU, OKST last year offensively... No disrespect to y'alls defense, but we've dominated better. 55-38 Tech.
Will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong and Tech loses.

Hardly. Another FCS team (PSU) beat them the year prior, and EWU is in their backyard. WSU wasn't caught sleeping, they just got outplayed.

Tech very well may win, but it will be no blowout unless your new QB is the 2nd coming of Mahomes.

So is Tatty Ice the 2nd coming of Mahomes or nah?

Thanks for the tune up.

He's obviously got a nice arm but he's a statue. I imagine he'll get pummeled when TT starts playing FBS teams.

Geez. You were able to talk smack before the game, but now that it is over we get excuses.. dropped passes.. sure there were some. I didn't see anything to show they would have turned into a lot of points.. if any. I guess Tech could have dropped more passes, but I guess the superior receiving crew decided not to. Of course Shimonek also put the ball in better spots most of the game.

EW could have covered better, except the Tech receivers are at a different level than the defensive backs were. Tech backs had big holes to run through. If the hole wasn't there they sometimes out ran the front 7 with more speed. Five different backs carried the ball effectively.

EW could have scored more points, but the offense was pretty inept the entire game. Sometimes from their own play, sometimes from Tech being more physical.

Once your team gets smacked around you just turtle up and can't handle it. Tech was simply better than EW on offense and defense. They will be next week, and every week the rest of the season. It is ok. Most teams you play won't be.

You can still win your conference and fight for a National Title. There won't be any teams as good as Tech playing for it.

This is still likely a 6-8 win Tech team. Next year should be the bigger step up as the young talent gets better this year. Duffey will likely be the QB next year and he is more talented than Shimonek. Shimonek can run the offense and throw accurately. He will be a fine stop gap this season.

So take your lumps. Your team earned them on the field. They'll get back up and fight on this season. Tech has to improve as bigger challenges are coming down the road.

The chest thumping from Tech fans in this thread, pre or post game, reeks of a team desperate to win anything. Sad.

Just ignore them. Their program has won plenty in the past and posts like this just reek of being a sore loser.

Hey Tech fans: You won, congrats. It makes you look unclassy to stick around bragging about it, especially when you're in a higher classification than us. Please go away.

I will say I didn't encounter a single person like these tools who all rushed to create a red zone account and talk smack AFTER they were assured victory. Everyone we met today was super nice and wanted to know about the program and was gracious. Seemed like pretty classy fans from my view.

This is consistent among all fan bases (except Montana) :) :)

700 miles, sunstroke and a sore butt (metaphorically and for real). TT fans were super gracious, but going past thousands of them after the game had a real slut walk feel.

Back to the drawing board. Hard to believe this is the same team.

I have found that "message board fans" are usually nothing like real fans you encounter at a game. The people who come to opposing boards after a win are typically t-shirt fans who just like to be jack wads. The ones who actually go to the game are the real fans and give you a better barometer.

I rewatched parts of the game last night and I think we'll be fine. It was hot, humid, we were 1000 miles from home and played a decent FBS Power 5 squad that had been hearing all summer how bad they are defensively and was out to prove something.

On to next week...

Nope, not humid.

Sure the defense has been bad for several years, but the fans that really follow what has been going on knew that we were going to see some improvement this year. When you have been in the 120's, it does not take much to improve. I would love to see us jump up into the 90's this year.

I did not expect to win by this many, I predicted a 17 point win. If y'all's receivers had caught a few of those early drops, I doubt this game looks like it did at the end. I hope EWU gets it figured out and have an outstanding season.
