Predictions EWU 10 @ Texas Tech Gigillion Wk 1

To All,
We did lose 3 Outstanding WR, we still have 10 WR, and they are all damn good. Watch for #7, Nic Sblendoroi, #11 Terence Grady, #88 Edwards iv, #5 Webster, #14 Jason Williams, #2 Stu Stiles, #80 Zach Eagle, these are some of the WR, and they will hold their own. I will watch this one on TV, heard it will be on ROOT TV. Go Eagles!!!!Vic E. Wallace

Atomic Eagle,
What the hell have you been puffing? No team will score 57 points on the Eagles Defense. This defense are very tough, and they gang up on the ball. This defense I think will be better than last year should they remain healthy. Just kidding about you have been puffing, ok? This have been all in fun. Will see our Team off on Friday a.m. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

Football is finally back. I think this team could be the real deal on both sides of the ball. I like us winning 42-35.

Unfortunately. I don't think our offense is good enough to keep up with a team like Tech.

Our offense isn't going to be as good as last year's by any means but I don't think anyone is going to score 54 points on this defense. Won't happen. I'm going with the Eags 35 and Texas Tech 34

Agreed. I think our defense is going to be pretty good but on the offensive side of the ball we do have a few question marks.

I don't understand why everyone is so nervous about our offense. I don't think the scrimmage results can be used to predict what this offense will do in a game. The OL is essentially intact from all of the starters from last year, we are loaded with talented returning running backs, Terrence Grady is back at WR with Splendorio, Stiles, Webster and Williams. We are solid at TE with Belk, Byus, Gilder and freshmen Talolo Limu-Jones who will be an All American in the future. Oh, and don't forget the best QB in FCS. This offense is going to kick ass!

I'm not nervous about it or even saying that we can't win against a Texas Tech. What I am saying is that I think our defense is at a level where we may be able to lean on them a little more than in the past. Conversely, last year's offense put up incredible numbers. IMO, to believe that there's not going to be any kind of drop off when you're replacing three players who collectively accounted for something like 4,000 yards of receiving is kind of silly. Again, not saying this offense won't or can't be good...I think we have players waiting in the wings who will be really good. But are they going to be Kupp, Bourne, and Hill level of good right out of the gate? I'm not so sure.

Wake up call Eagle fans.

This will not be a fun trip, it is going to be a booty blasting. I know you all are very excited because you had some good receivers last year, but that won't do you much good this year. Your offense MAY be able to put up 28-31 points throughout the course of the game against our terrible defense- that may be too generous, though.

Tech offense will have too much depth and your defense will be gassed by the middle of the third quarter. This is the best group of receivers Tech has had since 2007, and your DBs will not be able to match up. EWU is good for a cute win against an FBS team every once in a blue moon, so I know you all have convinced yourself that "if A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, & I go our way, we will win this game!!!!"

Just here to bring you guys back to reality land so your feelings aren't super hurt Saturday evening. Hope you don't make the long cross country trip expecting to win just to see a one-sided smackdown. If you do however, I recommend going to Spanky's across from campus and indulging in some fried cheese. I know you hippies up in the Northwest don't eat much besides seafood and kale.

I digress..........Tech wins this one 58-27. Thanks for the tune up game!

We literally hear this every season against every FBS team we play. And then, of course, the reality sets in when the game is played and unsuspecting fans have to come to the harsh reality that the difference in talent levels is not as disparate as they would like to believe. Tech may very well win this game...but objectively speaking I'd definitely bet against them winning by 30+ points.

I know EWU is good for a nice little win every few years against the big guys.

I expect this will be the football equivalent of middle school kids accidentally passing through the HS parking lot and getting ruffed up by the bigger, stronger kids.

Just didn't want you guys to have big celebration plans for the weekend only to be very upset when you come across big brother and get a wedgie.

Hey Gooo-

If we win, will you come back to eat crow or just disappear back into the West Texas chaparral? I'm guessing the latter.

If EWU beats Tech we likely won't have message boards or internet to worry about, as Jesus will have come back for us all!

We're going to have our hands full in this one. I predict a close game for the first half with Texas Tech pulling away in the second. My prediction is Eags 24, Red Raiders 38

Never say never Vic. The offense that they're putting on the field Saturday is very good. They could score in the 60's if we aren't able to hold on to the ball and take time off of the clock. Both teams should be able to score. This game will be determined by who creates more turnovers. I do think Tech has better talent across the board and more depth so I will have to give them the nod, 45-24.

Nod??????????? 21 points is a resounding endorsement. I don't see that kind of spread

Whew, good day of Tech fans and wide spreads. Don't think TT this year is superior to WSU last season in any way shape or form.. if all things were equal (and they aren't as EWU has a deep returning cast on both sides of the ball) this is a coin flip IMO. The travel is a factor, but the game time is good for EWU as a 1 pm start pst. and our familiarity with air raid won't hurt either. TT's OL is speculative at best and our DL is talented. Havili will have a field day after a year of learning the position, Tuili and the big's inside will be stout and a good secondary effort will result in sack's, hurries and stops. GG will stop thinking, start doing and expect Grady et.al to have a big game. Our OL will settle down after GG avoids a couple of blitzes early and expect to have a big day on the ground as well.

I think y'all are underestimating Tech.
I know y'all caught WSU by surprise, but no one at Tech is sleeping on EWU.
I think depth is going to be a big factor. Also look at what we did to ASU, OU, OKST last year offensively... No disrespect to y'alls defense, but we've dominated better. 55-38 Tech.
Will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong and Tech loses.

What is West Texas chaparral? Not sure I have ever seen such a thing.

Okay, we all know that it is Kool-Aid season. Everyone has been just going crazy waiting to see our respective teams get back on the field and show us that they are every thing that we have imagined for the months. Most feel that whatever changes have occurred with our team, that we see our team doing better than the previous year. But, let's look at this rationally.

TTU - 85 scholarships
EWU - 63 scholarships

Texas Tech has is just a deeper team with talent and bodies. Baring a disparity in turnovers, EWU will most likely hang close until halftime. The second half will probably see TTU pull away because of fresh bodies and pace of play, assuming they take care of the ball.

Do not compare WSU and TTU offenses. Leach still runs the same offense he ran 17 years ago. That stubborn SOB just seems to refuse to change. Kingsbury and Morris seem to do a great job of adapting the playcalling to suit the team strengths for each season. Not all spread offenses are the same.

I know this is a new season and a different team, but the last four years EWU has given up at least
42 points in each game against FBS opponents.

2016: Def. Washington St., 45-42.
2015: Lost to No. 7 Oregon, 61-42.
2014: Lost to Washington, 59-52.
2013: Def. No. 25 Oregon State, 49-46.
2012: Lost to Washington St., 24-20
2011: Lost to Washington, 30-27.
2010: Lost to Nevada, 49-24.

I am all in on the TTU Kool-Aid, just like most EWU fans are over indulging in their own, but I just think the Red Raiders win this one by at least 17.

For any of y'all traveling to the game, please stop by some tailgates for some West Texas hospitality, hopefully some awesome brisket, and some good natured ribbing. If you happen upon that jackass fan, I apologize for his behavior and hope that you will not hold it against the majority of us.

There is no doubt the extra scholarships give you a small advantage. However, recently when FCS teams beat P5 conference teams, the P5 team is a consistent bottom dweller in their conference. Your team has not been above .500 in conference since 2009.

You guys have a great team and you should be proud. That being said, some of you have definitely been spiking the kool-aid, which is allowed this time of year.

I will say this because you are unlikely to read it any publication. We are stronger this year over last year at every position except quarterback. Yes, we have an inexperienced offensive line, but the weakest link is a four-star freshman All-American at right guard who will play in the NFL when his college career is over.

In terms of running backs, one thing that will surprise you is how often Tech is going to be running the football. We have added a 240 lb bruiser by the name of Desmond Nisby and Kingsbury is going to to do everything he can to test the interior of the D-Line early. If that does not work, he will get the ball to Justin Stockton on the outside. Stockton is a shifty, speedy back (4.3 40) with good hands a lot to prove as 2016 was hugely disappointing for him. You will see a lot of him.

Receivers - we have one of the best groups in Power 5 football. This is one area where our recruiting has never suffered. There's nothing I can tell you here that will make you any more informed than you probably are already.

Defense - I've seen lots of quotes on here indicating we are small and fast. Well, you are half right. All that you need to do is look through the roster to find out how wrong you are about size. We have size and speed on the line and in the back seven. We have one undersized safety in Jah'Shawn Johnson, but he's one of the better safeties in the Big 12. The corners are over 6 foot and love to hit. Our linebackers start at 6'2' and 225 and go bigger from there.

Size is no longer an issue. Depth is not an issue. Experience could be a problem though. That could be a problem on both sides of the ball for us if you play well enough early. To me, that will be the whole key for you being able to leave Lubbock with the win. Dominating on offense and defense early. If you can't do that, we will wear you down by the third quarter.

Tech 42
EWU - 38

Good luck Saturday and good luck winning that FCS championship. You have an awesome program.
