Quad-A-Thon

Attended the 1st half of the Quad-A-Thon in Butler Hancock yesterday. For those not familiar, it is a strength, speed and agility challenge the team uses to finish the winter training period. The team competes in different events to test their improvement and to have a little fun. Yesterday they competed in the hang clean, broad jump and over the head ball toss (they toss a 15 lb ball up and over their head). Today they compete in the 40, bench and vertical jump.

Couple of observations from yesterday-

1. Team seemed to have really good chemistry. A lot of cheering each other on while at the same time getting fired up for the competition.

2. Team really seemed to be taking to the new coaches. Particularly Kerr and Wikre.

I know watching the interaction at an event like this doesn't tell us much, but thought it was important to see that the kids morale appeared high and that they weren't just going through the motions.

Thanks for the update. I think this is the third year they've done this, and I've always wanted to attend. I also saw some of the tweets from Collins and other coaches about the results. The coaches noted a few of the younger guys really doing well; guys like Davion(SP?) Anderson and Stephen Miller.

Has anyone seen any results/scores from the Quad-Athon? I'd like to see how the team did overall.

Haven't seen any published results. That would be fun to see how each of the kids stacked up. Like Beardown, all I have seen are some tweets from coaches and what I saw when I was there.

Hakeem Deggs, Freshman WR, ran a 4.28 forty and broad jumped 10'6"
Kendrick Johnson, Freshman DE, had a record overhead shot of 61'3"
Marcus Piechowski, RS Freshman OT, hit 350 lbs on the hang clean
Dom Sierra, SR LB, hit 350 lbs on the hang clean, 54' overhead shot
Ellis Onic, Freshman WR, ran a 4.30 forty
Devion Anderson, Freshman DE, 53'11" overhead shot
Lavell Sanders, RS Freshman DB, 10'3" broad jump
Christian Backes, Freshman TE, 325 lbs hang clean, 4.73 forty
Stephen Miller, RS Freshman WR, 325 lbs hang clean. He was also the overall leader at the end of day one with 266 total points.

If we have the same season this year will they have new events next season like the "Pick-6-a-thon" and the "coach-called-what-play?-a-thon"?
