Recruiting Thread 2007

Yeah according to KGW. He is a perfect fit for PSU. The hell with his size. The big thing to me is that his high school is across the street from PGE Park. If this doesn't bring more local fans and recruits to PSU, I don't know what will.

3 commits now, all from the Portland area. Also, many of the local uncommitted prospects favor PSU. Hopefully this local popularity will carry over into attendance.

From the rivals.com site regarding Adam Kleffner from Jesuit....

Portland State had a big weekend this past Friday-Sunday as the Vikings football program hosted several of their top in-state targets on campus for their official visits. Adam Kleffner, the strong 6-foot-2, 303-pound center from Jesuit High School in Portland, has been on their radar screen for quite some time and the Vikings hoped to make a big impression on him during his trip. Consider the job done.

One trip down, one to go for Adam Kleffner?

"The visit went really well," Kleffner said. "I had a good time and I liked it a lot. They showed us around and everything there is on the up-and-up and they want to do well. I enjoyed myself a lot."

During his trip, Kleffner saw all the sights and pretty much got all of his questions answered. While he didn't go as far and pull the trigger on a commitment, you could say that the right impression was made and now other schools in the running have some ground to make up - and they may have to make it up fast.

"I'm definitely leaning towards PSU right now," Kleffner said. "I might take a visit to Northern Arizona (temporarly scheduled for the weekend of January 12th) just to see a different school. But with PSU, I like how they've offered four Oregon linemen and that they want to bring us all in together. They've made us a top priority."

Kleffner indicated that he'd keep OregonPreps.com no the latest with his recruitment, so stay tuned.

Considering he was named First Team All-State both ways, you'd think that recruiters would be knocking down the door of Michael Lamb. For whatever reason they're not, but the developing 6-foot-4, 250-pound guard/tackle isn't going to cry about it. Lamb is sitting on one solid offer and has made an official visit to that school, and is simply waiting to see what else develops before making any final decisions.

Michael Lamb was one of only three players to be named First Team All-State both ways
Lamb made his first and only official visit so far to Portland State in mid-December, and it can be deemed a success. ""The visit was good - it was nice," Lamb said. "We got fed well, and we got to look around campus and saw the practice and the game field. It was different than I thought it would be - and it was positive."

One of Lamb's missions going into the trip was to find out more about the school's engineering program, and he was able to get many of his questions answered. "I talked with a professor and she showed me everything that I'd be taking, the books I'd need to get, (etc.)," Lamb said. "They said that they'd work with me to work it all out if I went there."

With his trip done and the offer still on the table, Lamb is still waiting to see what other options might materialize. Previous interest from Dartmouth and Northern Arizona seems to have tailed off. "No one else is really looking at me, so I'm just thinking about things and what I want to do," Lamb said. "Maybe some other school might come along. But right now, I do feel pretty good about PSU."

Stay tuned to OregonPreps.com for the latest on Lamb's recruiting situation.

Does anybody know anything about Clayton Rios? He is a JC player from CA and committed to the Vikings on the 5th. He isn't rated by rivals, but on scout he's a 3 star player. Looks like this guy could be really good.

I don't think we will get most of the definites until our annual spring game and from there we will be still bringing in recruits. I hope that we have another successful recruiting season, we have alot of good prospects but would like to start seeing some committments from these good prospects.

I'm hoping that the potential move that Walsh had lit a fire under his arse. I think it might have opened his eyes a little more than what he has been viewing the past 10yrs. I think he may have been a little to comfortable with his situation here at PSU knowing that he has it good where he was at but now knowing that his contract is up after next yr a new AD coming in, and having been looked at to take over 1A program just might inspire him to take the PSU football team to that next level we have been wanting him to!!!

On a side note the practice field looks pretty damn cool with the newly installed lights, it will be interesting to see it when it is completed.
