Red & White Scrimmage

Eagledawg,
If I am not mistaking, this game against SHSU,is supposed to have all type of "Promotions" going on before long, especially sometime in July. Rained all day yesterday during practice, so I sat in my Picnic Chair in front of the men rest room door. :) :) :) The rain made it very cold. Warm in men rest room. We left for home about 5:30pm, got home and hit the sack, here I am on my computer unable to sleep. :( :( :( W/O sounding like I am bragging, we are going to have another great team this year. The Players we have on the field right now, looks fantastic, the addition of our Recruits we will be more AWSOME :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Of course this is all depends on no injuries. May 17th, Lilac Parade, Coach Baldwin was elected to be the "GRAND MARSHALL" the evening parade. All this month our Players are involved in speaking along with Coach Baldwin, at numerous High Schools and Breakfasts. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Good Morning. Vic Wallace

loloman,
Looking forward to seeing you and family this weekend, you are going to have a "Round Robin Day" seeing all your sons in their activities. We talk to Todd about three times a week, such a great individual to talk with.
We attend the Women Volley Ball Practice, in Reece Court, and 90% of the time we see him, and he always stop to talk. He is putting his muscles and weight back on. He looks great. The last time we saw him he was hurrying to get his brother to Spokane for his classes. Weather is supposed to be sunny Sat and Sun. Here is keeping my fingers crossed. ;) ;) ;) Vic Wallace

tski60,
Did your friend from Oso Mudslide find his youngest son as yet? I am praying he did, it is so sad about the mudslide. We are praying for all in the area. I always say there are two things we will do in life, that is "Pay Taxes and Die", that is a very bad way to go. Hope no one suffered. "God Bless!!! Vic Wallace

Vic.. thanks for your concern. They have recovered the bodies of my friend, his wife and both of his young sons (youngest 4 yrs old was identified yesterday) and his mother & step-dad. At least they can have the funeral service now which is some comfort and they are all together in heaven.

I hope to get to meet you at the scrimmage... we plan to tailgate in the upper lot and will try to have some type of signage indicating our enthusiam for our fav player #65 :)

tski65,
He is looking good in practice. Will be looking forward to meeting you tomorrow. He is really happy to be here at EWU. Glad to hear your friend family is now together, they are all in Heaven looking down on all of us. My beautiful wife of almost 45 years will be gone 15 years on August 17th. We were approximately 5 months from our 45th years together. Take care!. Vic Wallace

Vic... sorry for the confusion but I meant we would be at the Red & White scrimmage and hope to meet you and lots of EWU forums fans there.

Sounds like you were one of the lucky ones in life to have the fortune of a love that stood the test of time. 45 years is a rarity in this day and age! I am sorry that you were parted from her too soon... we lost my mom 2 years ago - married to my dad for 60 years and he visits her gravesite every day. He will be at the scrimmage and loves coming to watch his grandson & teammates play!! Go EAGS!

Any sign of DJ Martin the prop 48 running back?
My understanding is he can not have contact with the team or virtually anyone associated with the team until his grades are up and he enrolls in school. At that time he will be like a freshman.
Is it true that he will only have 4 years of eligibility, no redshirt?

You're right about the no contact thing, but he's enrolled in school. Will be able to participate in summer (fall) practices pending he met his academic requirements. Same thing with Keonte White. Those are our two Prop 48's.

The "Prop" year is different than a whiteshirt or redshirt year. But, so long as the student earns their degree in 4 years it can kind of work out the same. In that case, the 4th year of eligibility is granted, so by virtue of that their "Prop" year is basically the same as a RS year, except for the obvious differences of not being able to practice, be on the scout team, etc.

Most Prop 48 players don't ever redshirt for that reason. As long as their grades are in order, both DJ Martin and Keonte White should be playing ball in the fall.

Thanks Ranger, Wow if DJ lives up to expectations and is eligible to play this fall we will have a VERY impressive "fleet" of running backs.
I believe the strength and conditioning coach is about the only contact he is allowed so he should be ready to play.

To All,
Reading the blog today, everyone that spoke are correct about the team and Props. I found out we have three Props. Add Andrew Balling, remember him from last year, I taught he said he was going balling, found out later his last name was Balling  . All of you spoke highly of the scrimmage. I agree with all of you. Some of my favorites i.e. Isaac Anderson #36, John Kreifles, #4, Jake Gall, #11, Jake Hoffman, #17, Gaven Deyarmin #12, Brandon Kirian, #14, Cameron Babcock, 56,and many more look great in the "D" The numbers I supplied are their practice numbers, exceptions are Isaac Anderson, Cameron Babcock, and Jake Hoffman. With the new additions from last year, the team will be very scary. All of the Players that had surgery after the season, will be ready to go very soon. Players like Ronnie Hamlin, Cody McCarthy, Tevin McDonald, Jordan Pulu, Cory Mitchell, and more should be back very soon. Vic Wallace

tski60,
After I didn't see you and family from the West Side, I figured there was a mix up ;), will be looking forward to seeing all on Saturday. We are going to the Dinner Dance after the Scrimmage, we are invited to sit with AD Chaves. I goes to that function, just to see how after a few drinks, how individuals dance. I taught we were going to have a long day at EWU, but the Volleyball Game at 11 a.m. was cancelled, our team got a late invite on the West Side, so I can sleep in a little. Yes, I did have a great life married to my late beautiful wife, I did sit at her grave for 6 years each day w/o missing, my Heart Dr. told me that is why I am presently with my Deflib, which was done in 2006, don't think I would be here if I didn't have it done. Jan 15th passed would have been 59 years married. I always say there are two things in life we will do, that is "PAY TAXES AND DIE", to bad we must do either. Spoke to #60 yesterday at practice, he doesn't know this blog name, unless he is trying to fool me ;). Was windy and cold again, so I went and saw the Women practice VB ;),in Reece Court Basketball Court, we left for home about 5:45pm. See this Saturday. Vic Wallace

To All,
Have talked about the Defense on team, the OL have been working very hard, and looking Great, as they call themselves, the "HOGS" are ready for the season. There some big spots to fill, but they looking great. Aaron Neary, Cassidy Curtis, Thomas Gomez, Jake Rodgers, Jase Botorac, Clay Deborg, David Delgado, Jarrod Jones, Jay Deines, and others are filling in with guts, along with the injuries. They will fill in with great Pride, and we will appreciate what they are doing. Vic Wallace

loloman,
I was enjoying the R/W Scrimmage, until the cloud burst came with little snow. That made me scramble for the Concession Stand, where I stayed until the completion of the Scrimmage. Windy and cold. I will leave all the good info for Jim Allen S/R. This was one of my better days. Met all our friends from the West Side.
Hope we have many more even after your sons graduate with their degrees. Vic Wallace

tski60,
Sorry I didn't get an opportunity meet you and family. If you missed the Dinner Dance, you missed some great times. Eric Meyers backup Alex Smart, was at the Dinner Dance, he looks great, now a Navy Officer. Once he graduated from EWU, he entered that Naval Academy. He is stationed at Woodbey Island,(sp) however, he is at Fairchild for some more training. This was like your friends visitation day. Met another player who played for EWU in the 90s' Casey McGourin, R. Donkers (Punter) and many more, Larry Weir, the best broadcaster in the NW, the crew from the West Side, the Butoracs, Days, Dylans, Sblendorio, and more. Lots of fun watching the Dancers after a few drinks of wine ;) ;) ;) , very enjoyable. Good Sunday morning. Vic Wallace
