Just curious if anyone knows if part of the Gateway Project they are thinking about having a hall of fame area? I know we have the Reese Room, but who goes down there? Not many.
After the basketball game versus ISU I walked by the football locker room and saw for the first time the Payton Awards and the National Championship Trophy and some other BSC Trophies. Great way to display them, but would be cool to have something like UW has in the BOA Arena for the public to really get a goo glimps of the trophies and awards the teams have been earning. Everything just seems so scattered (Reese Court, Reese Room, & Football Offices) Let's combine everything and get the some of the older stuff out as well.

Love this idea. Do things like the Payton/Buchanon Awards stay at the school or do the awardees keep them?
Not sure but if it was me I would want them displayed. I was kind of shocked to see both Payton's there. I think one of the Buchanon's was not there not sure which one. I think it is up to them.

Both player and school get one, I think.

Any update? It has been quiet for awhile. I would hope that with the play off run that there is some action taking place.

Here is the artists renditions that were presented at BOT meeting but haven't heard if the BOT voted on support of project or not.

Both the BOR and the EWU foundation have to vote, I don't think that's happened yet.

Found some more interesting information online about Gateway.

Tried to get the images in the site on here, but the issue with the dimension size limit isn't fixed.

Thanks Ranger
Love seeing that there will be a Hall of Fame . . maybe someone is reading our suggestions!
Hopefully there is a lot of room to expand!
Go Eagles!

In the post-game show last night, Larry mentioned they are going to discuss Gateway on the Coaches show Tuesday night. Be sure to tune in.

I guess you don't need a winning program to get a new stadium!

Can you or someone else recap what was said about the GP on the coach's show last night? I got called into work so I didn't get to listen.

there were some things said I hadnt heard before. need to complete the design phase and hoping to move forward with the construction timeline around this point next year. putting a new building not a simple thing, lots of stuff involved with that. want to make sure we're doing it the "right way". confident funding will be secured, selling "the vision".

I was in a meeting this weekend where this was brought up so I thought I would share what I heard.

First - I was on the fence about this project, but after listening to the EWU admin, I am all in on the gateway project, they really want whats best for EWU.

Right now, as already mentioned in this thread, they are still in the design phase and that should take another 9-12 months. The boards have not yet voted to approve the gateway project, it appears they like it, but the vote(s) have not yet taken place from what I heard.

As far as funding, a major portion is going to be donations. They have a certain number of donors they will be reaching out too and out of that pool there are are a handful of "big fish" and if the Gateway project has any chance to being a reality several of these major players will need to commit.

They also relayed that this isn't just about football, but its going to be a 365 day a year facility. Banks, Restaurants, stores are all interested from the retail side. They would have to move the field 24 feet closer to the current home grandstand to make room for the new section on the other side.

All in all I was impressed with what I heard. It sounds like we are still a few years away and they will need some commitments first, but they are moving in the right direction. I don't think much of my information is new information, but thought I would share what I heard.

Thanks for sharing Marc. This is what I have been trying to convey on this board all along. It's not just about football, and I think that's an important point to sell.

I'll be the first to admit I was skeptical, but I am on your side on this one now, I think this would help us tremendously. It's something not just used for football, but its also going to take our football team/stadium/fan experience to the next level.

marceagfan5, and All,
I have heard the same thing, however, since football was completed, everything seems like it all slowed down/stopped. My only concern for all the Senior Citizens, just hope we are all around when the project is completed.  I have had some very "GREAT" input from one of my sources, and he is in the know.

I was kind of thinking what was going on, every thing seems to have stopped, since we were finished with Football. Seems like the project comes up during Football Season. I know that there are two Banks, 1 Restaurant that is ready to occupy their spaces in the new building. Which ones, I do not know. All I can do is just sit and wait for the grounds to be broken/get started, and hope for the best for our Students, Faculty, Staff, Coaches, Athletes, and Eastern Backers, to have a top notched Project once completed. Hope it is "SOONER than LATER". Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
