Roos Field Renovation

They're not going to start reaching out to individual donors until the "big donors" have been secured. Also, they are still in the governance, or "silent" phase. Meaning they haven't technically started fund-raising yet.

I attended the Board of Trustees meeting today and from what I understood, both the Pre Design and Design phase have now been fully funded by the Capital budget and they've moved onto finding funding for the actual building phase. Looks like we're getting closer!! :thumb:

I believe the Capital budget is what comes from the State. Now before everyone freaks out about how the state wasn't supposed to pay for any of the stadium renovation, they won't. They help pay for design stuff, but the building phase will be private donors, not state money.

It wasn't completed for the WOU game, but it completed now, and it looks great!

Swung by it yesterday and it does indeed look great. Cool views looking north over the wheat fields and hills towards Spokane.

Hope this thing gets built. Looks like EWU has another shot at the title. Def have made a splash beating ranked osu and Montana. All home games sold out this season. Hopefully that means something to someone.

We are in need of more seats right now. I hate looking at the visitor side bleachers. 60-70 million is a lot of money to raise and may take awhile, so I hope EWU seriously thinks about expanding in phases so we can increase capacity right away.

We need at least a couple thousand more seats right now.

I agree that there is an immediate need for 2-3 thousand seats RIGHT NOW. I don't know that the Gateway vision as it stands right now is really something that could be phased, however.

only complaint is that as games are getting more popular, tickets get more expensive.

May be time for season tickets next year, they were $100 for all 5 games this year...probably 150 for next year :)

Seattle Eagle, The new parking lot was completed for the 2nd Home FB Game, and the rumors is there will be an additional 200 more spots next year. Spoke to some "Big EWU Wigs" they said they are working very hard behind the scene, and everything looks very positive. Hope it gets started before I leave this world/earth. Once it is completed, Home Side will be changed. I noticed the New Parking Lot have been getting its share of "TAILGATING" My medication have me kind of drowsy, so I will close it down for now. Have a great weekend. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Interesting how Gonzaga was on the brink of closing but with some support and a focus on basketball success has made the school wildly successful.
Best case study of what The Gateway could do for Eastern.

Is anyone else slightly annoyed that the Alumni base has not had any opportunity to voice their support of this project? I can understand things being kept quite but it seems as if the entire discussion has taken place in a vacuum.

Money talks. Call Chavez and tell him you support it, and tell him how much you want to spend. I guarantee that you'll get some attention. I'm very aware that fundraising is going on right now, although I think it tails off a little during this time of year. Obviously, most of the administration is dealing with playoffs and the Fall and Winter sports all being active at once.

To be honest, I don't think there's a lot to "tell" right now. I believe there was a BOT meeting the other day, and Coach Baldwin, VA, and Cooper Kupp were in attendance. I guess you could view that as a good or bad sign. Good, meaning people are still listening. Bad, meaning the BOT may not be completely sold on the idea yet.

I don't think it's Chaves so much as the BOT.

You aren't the only one. The Project was presented to the Board of Trustees over a year ago, and we have heard nary a word about it since. If there is fund raising going on I sure as hell haven't been contacted about it. How do we know that's true? Have they only been reaching out to the potential 'big' donors?

I'll echo the frustration in the Alums not having any voice in any of this. It's hard to believe that the success or failure of something like this lies in the hands of some faceless panel at the University.

That's how EWU seems to work when it comes to fb. I think the amount they need is so large that they're trying to secure big donors first then maybe when they only need a few million then some type of fundraiser. I don't think this gets built. They're gonna have to scale it waaaaaaay down. And it'll still have a hard time getting built. EWU "powers that be" care nothing about EWU fb.
