Roos Field Renovation

MLEagle/clawman,
I have also read Jim article ref "Gateway Project", I agree with what both your sentiments, nice having the article. Honestly I have given up on the Project, if it comes I will be happy, if it doesn't, I will still survive. It have become very frustrated when you hear personnel attempting to sugar coat information. I have never been so damn frustrated since we started talking about the Project, and we haven't as much as dug a hole anywhere. Yes we now have new parking, for Tailgates, etc. Maybe it will come after most of us are dead and gone. I will just attended our games as long as I am capable, and root on our Eagles, in all sports. Don't know how much longer we will be able to maintain our Coaches. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Thanks for the great reporting on this Jim.

As for the report / update itself. Tough to be disappointed with the sizzle when the steak is currently so good, but naturally this article left me feeling a little deflated...

That said, I've been all in on the Eags since I moved here in 2001 and between then and now has been a well documented steady increase in momentum and success and I'm in it for the long haul. Go Eags!

I hope to be alive and mobile when the gateway project is completed. Like Cowherd said, strike when the Iron is hot when searching for funding. Hope that's happening while the Eag's on field product is as sound as it is.

thoxleiter,
Good luck for your wish of being alive when the "Gateway Project" is completed. I have kind of lost my urge for the project because of the problems with the funding. I remembered kicking in some money for the present Press Box, it took about 5 years to complete my donations. At least we had people willing to help get the project completed. I know this is a bigger lift like $60 million, more by the time they get it going. I can just sit and hope. We have too great a product on the field for us not to be working toward the final Project. Vic Wallace

To All,
Did attend the practice today, all looks great in practice, VA worked his butt off today, after practice him and Quarter Back Coach Zach with Vernon did some exercises. Should VA start this weekend, he will be ready. Quincy was practicing sparingly today, he stated he will be ready game day. I heard we could have a very big turn out for the game. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Vic Wallace

Hi Vic;
Did you stay warm at practice today? I was outside at Hayden Lake and it was really nice, no wind.
I regret to say I agree with you that The Gateway project is probably lost. Hope I am wrong but if the Gateway was to happen with the current players more would have happened by now. Not that we have been sold a bill of goods but at some point we need to be a realist. We don't have a Denny Washington.
Eastern athletics is what it is because of the people not the bricks and mortar. Not that a facility that keeps Eastern in the mainstream within the upper echelon of FCS would not help the program and the entire University but we will survive. Maybe not with the success' we have had the enjoyment of experiencing but athletics will not go away and I'll still be out there cheering on the Eagles.
See you Saturday

My question would be "how much has already been spent on Gateway planning?" I'd bet Eastern is already in the million dollars plus spent, and maybe that is why the all-or-nothing approach. Perhaps it's time to jettison the plan and come up with something smaller and feasible.

Let's look at this from a what we want vs. what we need standpoint.

The Gateway with terraces, seat backs, luxury suites, retail footage, and a bridge across Washngton is wanted.

But what is truly needed is greatly expanded seating on the Eastside, a legitimate stadium facade, and that's about it.

To All,
Approximately 11:40 p.m. Saturday night, saw the catch performed by #13, Nic Sblendorio. I have been bragging about this young man ever since he arrived as a Player, he is finally getting the ball thrown to him more. Was surprised and very happy to see that the "EAGLES" made ESPN "Top Plays". I taught he had missed the catch, until I saw the Ref. with the Touch Down Signal. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    I got home tired like you know what. I fell asleep after I got home on Friday after the team practice, which was about 4:30 p.m. I woke up about 12 Midnight. Couldn't get back to sleep, up all night turning. turn    :( :( :( . When my daughter woke up, I told her I wasn't going to the game, but you know me, I love that Team, Coaches, so I had to find the energy, which I did. Got to the game about 10:10hrs a.m, and the Handy Cap Parking were all filled. Great Game, even there were approximately 900 yards between both teams combined. Will let Jim do his writings about the game, we have "The Best Wide Receivers around. BTW, when you see the "one Handed Catches", don't be surprised, the team practice that everyday.    . Vic Wallace

Hi Vic;
Yes, our outstanding receivers kept us in this game. O-line had trouble with the Griz, Vernon is a little rusty.
As far as the Gateway, the subject of this thread, has it been considered to lower the field enough to add more seating on the sides where the track was?
Get some sleep!!
CC

clawman,
Trevor Westlund and myself was discussing about that at the Thursday Practice, he started talking about it and mentioned that is how UW did their seating. I think this is something Trevor was talking about, don't know if he got that from someone else. Sounds good to me. Anything to make our Field look presentable, especially the Visitors Side, we have an "Outstanding Team" and deserve better for the University. Yes, Montana did keep our Run Game in check, and glad to see VA not quite him self yesterday, he still got the job done. Might go to the Men Basket Ball today at 2 p.m, might be kind of loss, my Side Kick Chris" is going to Veterans Arena to the Circus with her older sister. I got up about 3 a.m. watching the EWU/UM game, checking to see if anyone scored again    . Have a safe trip to Arizona and back. Vic

EWUmomma,
Was surely nice seeing you and the family in the lot "Tailgating". We had an outstanding crowd, I think 11, 339 personnel at the game, 3rd largest crowd ever. Hope everyone make it back to Colorado safely. That game got some of our Former Players to come back and check it out, ran into some of the Players fm 2008 etc. and longer that was there. I couldn't remember most of them, but they surely remembered me. Don't think I arrested any of them. ;) ;) ;) ;) Nice seeing Taiwan Jones on the sidelines with the Players. Good morning. Vic Wallace

clawman,
Enjoyed the 7th Man Club Meeting last night at Northern Quest (Masslows) 5:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. I couldn't understand why that meeting was scheduled the same time as our FB Coaches Meeting at the Impulse. :? :? :? Anyway, the President and her personnel were also at the meeting, heard she was also at the FB Coaches Meeting. Received very positive information from one "VERY HIGH" individual about the Gateway Project. The individual stated on Saturday before the FB Game, she did mention the Gateway Project. In case the lift of the Entire Project was impossible, she instructed AD Chaves to come up with something more feasible that we can all appreciate, and attract more outstanding Students. There were about 105 individuals was at the meeting in Northern Quest. At least I hope this is a great sign of where the President stands with the Project. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    I am now up enjoying the "WAR FLICKS" on AMC. Just got finished watching U-571, now Wind Talkers are coming on. Have a great "Veterans Day, to all our veterans, and all serving. "GOD BLESS AMERICA" :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Vic Wallace

To All,
If you are not busy today, found out last night the team will be practicing around 2-230 p.m. today. It is going to be a cold practice, will dress warm, gloves and all. Go Eagles. Vic Wallace

To All,
Went out to see practice yesterday, stayed between the Men Rest Room and my vehicle. Like we say "was a COLD Mudda out there.   :( :( :( Coach Baldwin laughed when I told him my seats was going to be the restroom and my vehicle. ;) ;) ;) Started practice about 2 p.m. finished about 3: 45hrs.. Will try it again about 4 p.m.   . Vic Wallace

To All,
Remembered a few years ago we used to have busses for the away games, i.e. Portland State, Montana, and Montana State, when they were away. Don't know why this is not continuing. I would prefer bus instead I driving the many miles. Is the games at PSU still the same place? The last time we went we stayed in some hotel, and the bus took us to the game where we had to look around metal posts to see the game. The metal posts was part of the construction. Vic Wallace

Vic,

The game against PSU will be at Providence Park just as it was two years ago (Anyone who traveled in 2010 will remember Taiwan Jones' monster game at Hillsboro Stadium due to remodeling at Providence). Rest assured that the Park has been long finished with its upgrade for the MLS Timbers FC. That being said, if your seats are way up under the roof, its not uncommon to have a roof support in your view. That's the tradeoff for staying dry in a rain forest haha.

JPhillips71,
Thanks for the info. I think the last time I was there was in 2005 or 06. We stayed in the hotel downtown, no parking outside, or place for tailgating. Even the Bus parked in the hotel garage. I know what you are talking about the post in the vision. It did rain that day, and didn't mind the post being in my way. ;) ;) ;) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: . Vic Wallace

I thought the game is in Jeld Wen stadium, or is that one in the same?

Civic Stadium-PGE Park-Jeld Wen-Providence Park - same place different names. Oh, and it maybe a bigger crowd. Just saw an ad on TV here in Portland for the game- they're bringing in the Dallas Cowboy's Cheerleaders
Go Eags
