Roos Field Renovation

Lowering the playing surface and moving the field closer to the already existing westside grandstand would be GREAT, but if its too expensive and/or holds this project up it can be ditched. its not 100% necessary.

This is good news guys. The GWP was never going to happen and they finally put a bullet in it. Secondly, the red turf looks terrible with the pink track. thats why "they" are bringing up new stadium location ideas.. bc lifting the turf, digging down to lower the playing surface.... etc just to remove the track is out! Here's the best, most affordable idea.

1. same stadium sight.
2. remove & relocate the track with the bleachers. lower the field if funds exist. if not, its ok.
3. build new eastside stand closer to the field than the westside if field is not lowered.
4. build *permanent eastside stands (with amenities) that look something like this:

Problem Solved! :coffee:

I agree, there are a lot of incremental improvements we could make over time to the stadium instead of waiting for $30-$60 million to be raised. There are a lot of examples of stadiums that have transformed incrementally over time including BSU, Montana, Nevada, etc.

To All,
FB Practices stopped yesterday. Players will however continue to lift weights, etc. FB Camps starts on June 17th, for whom ever wants to help coach. They will be back June 20th to start practices. Also found out June 16th, some of the Signees will be coming in early. We have three Running Backs coming, Talley, Pierce, and Custer Jr (De La Selle). I think these three will help the running game and maybe couple of them could be playing their first year. Of course that is left up to Coach Beau and his Coaches. We will have some outstanding WR that is coming into their own, Zach Eagle, Stu Siles, Dre Dorton, Nic Sblendorio is coming back from his shoulder injury, Jason Williams, and all are looking great going for the Balls and catching the ball. Signees Wide Receives are Xavier James, and Kyle Olson-Urbon, which make us even better. Supposedly an OL 300+ lbs coming in from Utah State to check us out. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

There is some work being conducted in the vicinity of the FB Field, especially trenches being dug , land in the vicinity of new parking lot being dug, and the dirt being dumped from construction being dumped in the area of the Farmers land. Fences are going up around the areas. I don't want to guess, will wait and see if I can get the information from some one that knows what is coming. Maybe nothing. Hope for some good news, we have been disappointed enough. Vic Wallace

I really think this design is the winning formula for EWU football. Add south Endzone seating with a small room for home team to gather in and run out of a tunnel. I remember having to WALK all the way from the phase to the stadium! That's corny. Make a small room with tunnel in the south Endzone with seating similar to existing north Endzone seating. Also add one maybe two levels of inexpensive chairback type seating on the eastside. Why chairback on the eastside? You charge a higher price for the chairback seats AND a small amount of fans looks like more. When there's PACKED OUT games, you leverage your Endzone seating which will be bleacher type seating only. This is the winning recipe for EWU Football. Stadium goes from 8.5k to 15k with out a second deck on the eastside. 20k with second deck. That's where EWU needs to be, between 15k & 20k because you have to consider the GROWTH of the program over the next 20 years. People are sooooo afraid of the 15-20k number but the EWU-UM game can do 20k GUARANTEED. UM fans are loyal and they would gladly travel to Cheney to experience a *quality game day experience. (Includes EWU having adequate *quality seating)

This type of seating option LOOKS (and probably is) VERY INEXPENSIVE.

UNLIKE this which *LOOKS a lot more expensive.

This also looks inexpensive & would add to Roos' look & capacity. In regards to the south Endzone, this seating would not infringe on the video board, instead it would sit juuust in front of it and look something like this:

Nevada basically is doing a renovation and replacing bleacher space with chair back seats to charge more money to CREATE AN EXTRA REVENUE STREAM for athletics I'm assuming. Point is, Eastern can do creative things like this to generate funds, or payback a stadium expansion loan.

"Fans at Mackay Stadium have traditionally been provided with a choice of extremes: sit on a cold/hot aluminum bleacher or purchase a 12-20 person luxury box. We recognize that there is a desire for middle ground when it comes to seating options, thanks to years of great feedback from our fans."

Coastal Carolina is a good little program that isn't afraid of pumping themselves up. I just saw their new turf last week.

To All,
Reference the digging etc around Campus, this has nothing to do with GWP. They are putting new pipes in the areas, because there are some underground pipes that are dry, so they are running loops around so the water can go to where it is supposed to. Also we will see Shorter Light Poles in the lots with different lights that are brighter, mostly LED Bulbs. He is in the know, he stated he haven't heard anything lately about the GWP. Just have to continue to keep our fingers crossed. Have a great weekend, 4 days off. Thanks to all that are in the Military Serving Our Country, and all who have served. Vic Wallace

To All,
On the FB Roster today, we have some #'s Changes. I will let all of you do some home work. Spoke to my Kid Brother yesterday, he lives in Vegas, he said when we forget things, it is a sign of (CRS-Syndrome). Which means we "Can't Remember Shit Syndrome" :) Went out to Campus today, it is like a Morgue, nothing moving around Campus. Most of the cars are gone from the Parking Lots. Have to wait for the Camps which comes in pretty soon. Saw where one Poll has EWU ranked #12th in the FCS. More ranking to come once the season get started. Have a great weekend to ALL. Vic Wallace

"Roos Field Renovation/Gateway project/ updates. "

To All,
I apologize for posting in/on the wrong Subject. This is like my younger Brother have stated, this is what we call CRS Syndrome, (Can't Remember Shit Syndrome:). Will try to pay closer attention. Don't know what the subject mean, as long as all get what we are talking about. FB Camp starts tomorrow, I was told we will have about 50+ Players out earning some pay. Installation of the new lighting is going on right now in lot 12, we will have some LED Lighting around Campus. Take Care. Vic Wallace

To All,
Made my trip to EWU today, FB Camps are moving on. There are as many as 24 Schools, with approximate 300 Young Men on the Fields. Roos Field, Grass fields, both top and bottom are being used. Saw three of our Recruits working the Camps. Running Backs, Antione Custer Jr, Tamarick Pierce, and QB Eric Barriere, were all there working the camp. Some big young men in the camps, and possible future "Eagles". This weekend, from my family to yours, "HAPPY FATHERS DAY", and enjoy your families. Vic Wallace

To All,
If you haven't noticed as yet, the only changes on the above, are all the Recruits names was removed and placed at the end stating 2016 Incoming Freshmen, which is still the 19 that was on the Roster July 7, 2016. The Preseason Depth Chart are also completed. Check page 25 you will see the above. Big Ben Pau PuaPuaga is listed as Left Guard on Preseason DC. Hope what I have heard is not true, and he is returning. Right now Gage Gurb is listed as #1 QB. Right now it looks as if there are 12 Seniors for this season. Good morning. Vic Wallace
