Roos Field Renovation

I believe there will be some sort of meeting or information to discuss improvements to the stadium a month or two after the season, I would guess around the 1st of March.

Why not suggest one through eaa? I would be happy to attend and listen.

Troy,

I completely agree with you that the EAA should be involved or the school and I believe they will be. I know there are a lot of people on this board that want to help and get involved in the renovations, so the more people we can get involved, the more we can get done. I'll post more when I hear something other information.

We could all get together and build Troy's shack in a day. A good 'ol Eastern Washington barn raising. It would probably cost less than a $1000 for the materials, including the beer.

While were on the wish list topic of outside stadium improvements, a few RV hookups would be nice. You could charge by the season or the game and I bet more than a few of us would pay top dollar for them.

Here's some screen shots from the original renovation project. The entire project was estimated at 4.6 million back in 2003. Much of this would have been the new pressbox and end-zone seating. I know the priority right now is the video board, but it seems like the completion of this project would be feasible.

Additional seating (4) on either side of current seating, and enclosed (brick)?

Additional seating (2) on either side of press box.

Landscaping, terraced grass seating (7) on either side of press box seating.

I can't remember what 5 and 9 were, but I assume something to do with entrance/amenities.

Looks SO much more legit with expanded seating on the opposite side.

Just an outsider's view, but wouldn't more permanent seating and facilities be a priority to the video board?

Not contesting the argument that a video board can improve the experience, but it not be better to have that many more people in the stands to enjoy that experience? A video board is not going, nor is permitted, to affect the game as much as large crowd of loud fans.

Go for the board, but a large permanent stands rising high above the field can be pretty intimidating to some teams.

I'm leaning this direction as well. The bigger stadium would improve the perception to local fans and recruits as a legitimate DI football venue. Right now even with the improvements, Roos still looks like a DII stadium to outsiders. The one wildcard in the prioritization though would be advertising revenue from video that could potentially help pay for further improvements.

Normally, I would disagree with the last sentence, but in EWU's case, that may be a bigger concern than accommodating attendence.

Is it just me or does that drawing that EWURanger posted just look weird with a green field? My how a persons perspective can change.....

Love the Inferno!

GoEags/To All,
During the Excavation of Roos Field this year, I spoke with Steve Paulletto, Head Huncho, told me that there are a lot of plans for "Roos Field", as usual, the monies are the problem. I saw every bit of the work done except one day, July 6th, my daughter and myself went and visit my son who is a Pastor in Moses Lake.

Steve stated on the North End of the Field, there is supposed to have an Indoor Parking Garage, and seating in front of the Garage. There are plans for Roos Field, as we all know, the biggest problem is the budget.

Did someone say in Frisco, TX, the field is GRASS? That mean our team will possibly practice on the Grass Field behind the Tennis courts. That field could be muddy/frozen for our players, and dangerous, hope I am wrong.

Hope as many of you can make the Coaches Show at Northern Quest tomorrow @ 5:30 pm. We will get a lot of information from Coach Beau Baldwin, plus meet new friends, and eat great meals. I am thinking of the Monday Night Special: Steak with bake potato, and a beer for $10.95 yuuuum, yuuuum. I don't drink, so I will give the beer to the Newest Fan of the Eagles. lol:

Have Fun In Frisco, Texas, and come back with the "National Championship", I know our Players can do it. We play to our potential, win the turnover battle, and we will.

I am very happy to hear how many fans are going to Texas, to cheer on our Team and represent our University, "Thank all of You", this includes our Katy Texas, and all Texas Fans.

Like said before, I will be staying in Spokane, watch the game on ESPN2, DVR the Game. I am still having problems with my back. I raised so much hell on Dec. 17th, during the Villanova, Game, rooting on our team, I pulled some muscles in my lower back. I forgot I am no longer 20 years of age. ;) "Go Eags!!!!! Vic

Sorry Vic, next Coaches Show isn't until Monday, January 3. Not sure what we'll do without our weekly get together with our coach and one or two of the players as we've had all season. Anxious to get an update on ticket sales but sounds like a big EWU crowd in Texas.

JoinTheEaa,
Thanks, we found that out last night. My daughter and myself went out and found out we were a little early. We didn't feel bad, Gary and some his friends were also there. Gary checked his Black Berry and verified we were threr early. Like you stated, Jan 3rd,2011 @ 5:30pm. We stayed and had our Monday Night Special.

Hope ou had a very Happy BD on the 26th, sorry we couldn't make it. Will be heading out to ee our team practice. I have been listening to the News, they are predicting 4-5 inches of snow, hope they are wrong. With a nice Snow Blower, I don't want to piss off my back. It is coming along, and feeling better. Go Eags!!!!! Vic Wallace

The ones I'm going to post in a few days will have a red field. :D

EWURanger,
That is "GREAT" work. Are you sure you are not working for "EWU Physical Plant Planning Division"? ;) Regardless, it is "Great Work".

I found out we will be Home Team in Frisco,Tx. We won by coin flip. Hope this is the first winning omen

It is snowing outside right now, I don't think it will be the 4-5 inches the News Weather Forcaster predicted.

I did set my DVR for the game on Jan 7th,2011. According to ESPN2, the game is set to commence @ 4pm. I will also DVR prior 30 minutes show of Colin Cowert, see what he has to say about his former University he attended.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with Renovation, I just don't like jumping all over the blog. Happy New Year to All, come back as "FCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS". Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Ranger-You need to email these to the AD ASAP! Those are awesome and we need to strike while the iron is hot. Go Eagles!!!!

You really need to get rid of the track. Yeah, I know, the school needs a track, but you need to put it someplace else.

The width of the track may not seem like much, but causes an obstructied view. Being that much closer to the field makes a serious difference on how one views the game.

preaching to the converted....nobody on here likes it, but i don't see it going away in the near future unfortunately. At least we have other fields we can move it to when the time comes.

That looks great. I hope that this run starts to bring the EWU fan base out of the woodwork and allows us to be able to do some serious fund raising.

looks great but we really need that track to go. IMO this is wat Roos Field needs.

In order of importance.

1. Add video board. - Adding the board will help take your eyes of those HS visitor stands for now.
2. Add east grandstand - Make it look like the north end-zone's seating. Make it bigger than the west side. 7k.
3. Extend east grandstand- Two more sections on the outsides.
4. Include large, filling trees INSTEAD of terraced grass to give the stadium a more INSIDE feel. TRUST ME. This will help with the track until a MAJOR renovation can be done to remove the track.

5. Replace 'Field' with 'Stadium'.
