I find it amusing that after ALL this time they have decided to form a task group to look at something realistic. Something that should have been addressed in detail along side the Gateway project as a Plan B.So, apparently we are only NOW forming a task group...forming? Was it really Gateway or nothing? Apparently an upgrade is not in the works any time soon...which is laughable.
They should form a task group to find out why there wasn't a task group formed earlier to look at something realistic. We are being played/stalled/carrot dangled/mushroomed in the cellar...believe it.

I agree, this is terribly disappointing. As I mentioned before, they need to be very considerate as to the timeline. If this is still 4-5 years or more down the road, then it's time to just stick some high-rise erector set bleachers on the East side to increase capacity by 4,000 or so. At least that results in butts-in-seats and allows us to grow our fanbase. It's obviously not a permanent solution, but it least gives us a quick fix until a long-term solution can be worked out.

I have no idea to this day why they put in pretty nice Northside endzone bleachers but went with dumbed-down low-risers on the East side which are both a complete eyesore and woefully inappropriate for our needs.

Agree with both posts...difficult to see our facilities when WSU made monster improvements during their bad years and gonzaga laid out plans today for their new $24 million facility...not sure what's a bigger joke, our stadium or the face no one is doing a damn thing about it

When Scott Barnes found the bleaches at a big discount the university did not want to spend funds to expand the East area into the parking lot. So they were installed in the endzone area.

Also, at the time, Eastern was on phase one of a three phase project to expand the stadium. Phase one included the pressbox and North grandstand. Phase two was the addition of the East grandstand. As per usual at EWU, phase one was one of the most half-assed tragic-comedies of the era and barely got completed. Phase 2 and 3 were put on permanent hiatus.

It just seems like, at this point, not even having a concrete plan of what to do demonstrates a massive lack of leadership.

It's now just sad. The President and Athletic Director have just completely FAILED on this. I myself, with a pickup truck and a weekend of time, could install better bleachers on the East Side of the field. They need to spend SOME damn money and AT LEAST add new MUCH larger metal bleachers to the visiting side. These 2 "leaders" are just useless. I have heard NOTHING is in the works either, I was bold face lied to by the President at the WSU game. I have followed up and made calls, and asked around, from what I hear there is nothing planned or being planned. Sad.

Here are some photos of the new South Dakota State stadium. Pretty damn nice.

I suspect there's a very good chance ESPN will pick us up as the opening game of the season against NDSU. (opening with the Bison and Texas Tech is going to be brutal) If so, I'd really like to see something- temporary or not- added to the East side. If nothing else, it helps the optics in a high-profile game like that. I just can't imagine putting something like our Northside bleachers in a larger scale on the East side would be all that expensive. If nothing else, it helps the perception of our program and adds sellable seats.

Yes, it is very nice. This is somewhat I'd like to see in Cheney, not a bunch of bandaids and end up with a cobbled mess that is too good to tear down and start over but surely never state of the art.

please-oh-please if we get a super wealthy donor don't have her/his name be Dana J. Dykhouse...thankyou.

raw

Hahahahahah
Funny stuff, but man that looks good. Not a lot of work that needs to be done to add something like that.

Couldn't agree more about SDSU's new stadium.

One thing about Roos that has started to bug me more and more is how far the stands are from the field due to the track. When I was a student, I really didn't care much about that, just thought it was cool that we were winning some games. But now, I feel like I'm a million miles away from the field and I sit in Row 15 of section B.

With broadcasted games, I'd prefer the cameras to be on the visitors side to avoid showing that sad excuse for stands.

Broadcast programs will put main cameras on the broadcast side of the field so you will not see cameras on the east side even if they built a platform for the cameras over there. SAD So wee are stuck with bad presentation of our stadium until better bleacher are put on the East side.

I beleive thar Chaves has done a remarkable job as AD considering that we are one of the most underfunded programs in the big sky conference. It's obvious that BB and his staff are great at developing talent. We simply don't have the firepower to put recruit montanta, montana state etc. What he can sell is a winning program with a high graduation rate. I truly believe that the new president Mary Cillian is a millstone around EWU NECK. She had so many major cutbacks at SOU that the faculty ran her out. She is not good for the EWU athletic program. I feel like she is making the football expansion an afterthought as opposed to a forethought. CHAVES hands are ties
The EWU football program deserves better than this. Granted academics should always be first but I have a hard time believing that we can't get something respectable off the ground. I don't think she is a deal maker, she's an order taker with blinders on. I am proud of EWU ATHLETICS AND THE SCHOOL ITSELF.WE HAVE COME ALONG WAYS.

The Jackrabbits got a big donation from Denny Sanford to help make their new stadium possible.
Worth 1.3 Billion and vows to die broke!

Good news. I heard the stadium addition was finally approved. It should be installed in time for the Montana game!!!!

Here is an official rendering from the athletic department.

If that's the Montana allotment then it's too many seats and too close to the field :D

GoldenEagle,
If the Bleachers for Montana Fans is all we get, it isn't that much for the GWP. I will accept the Bleachers. The Crowd from Montana doesn't bother me, we are looking for Funds to help or Project get started, that is my main concern. If I am not mistaking, we had 10,741 spectators at the game last Saturday, even with the cold weather. The TEAM" is winning, and I think the crowds will get Bigger. I am keeping my fingers crossed and everything else:) When I start to see Concrete being poured, I will then know the GWP is on its way. I may start playing Lottery again, and see if I can get some money for our Project. I will do anything honest to help us get where we should be. We have a damn Outstanding Project on the FB Field every week, we owe them that much, don't you think? Hope for an outstanding Crowd, and another outstanding game from our Eagles this weekend. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

To All,
We all bitching about the project, who is and is not doing things. Have any of us ever thing about all of us donating more to help the program get off the ground? I am sure someone on this blog have the financial background to help get something off the ground. I am sure some of you know the Face Book young man. Maybe some can work with him. He has committed to donate billions, yes, billions to eliminate all diseases. Please I am not being funny, I really want to see our project get started. Many may not be around when it is completed, but will know it is on its way. Have a great weekend, and a "Winning One" Vic Wallace

All Joking aside, that is a good point Vic. I remember in 2010 when Montana visited there were more bleachers set up on the track near the corners of the end zones and it seemed like along the entire end of the south end zone. I wonder why those bleachers have not been utilized since then. Now it seems there are beer tents instead of bleachers. I assume that if more tickets were available, then more SCURVY griz fans would waddle to the stadium.
