Roos Field Renovation

Hopefully big wins like tonight can get the momentum going again for some expansion. This fan base just keeps growing and getting better. It was awesome to see several thousand passionate EWU fans invade Martin Stadium, because just a few years there is no way we get even 500 folks down there.

For what it's worth....I was down at the game in Pullman this last weekend. I was up visiting with some friends up near the press box. While I was up there I heard somebody behind me say, "that's EWU's president." Needless to say my eyes found her quickly and I was all ears. As she was walking by I heard several people shouting, "when are you going to build us a new stadium?" As she walked by I asked/begged for the same thing and she gave me a pretty big smile and said something to me as well as she was walking by. Her voice was so soft I couldn't tell what the heck she said and it has me frustrated. She did stop and have a few words with a few of the people that were asking. I was surprised how many people new who she was. Not saying this is much of a big deal but at least I now know that she is consistently hearing it from Eag fans. The pressure is on from the fans!

go eags!!

I was at the game in Pullman and was one of the few who actually approached our EWU president and asked about the Stadium. I did not hold back, I was polite, but asked her straight up what the plan was. She said, the Gateway Project was too big and not a reasonable plan. She said they have a smaller plan in place now and its something that will actually happen. I asked when, she did not say, and dodged that question. But I then confirmed again, "something is in place?" she said "Yes, we have a plan in place that we can accomplish" I pointed out to her, the visiting side is a flat out embarrassment to EWU, and unfortunately that is the side that's shown on every single Telecast. I spoke with her for about 5 minutes, I must say, I'm not confident she was fully telling me the truth.... Shes seemed a little out of it.

If enough alumni and fans start turning up the heat on the administration, they will have no choice but to at least address what the long term plan is for Roos. Everyone on this forum needs to write the President and express their displeasure with the current situation. This is OUR University, and there needs to be a realistic plan in place for improvements to the facility. It is the first thing you see driving into town on Washington Street!

This is a great article in regards to our Athletics Department's budget and the EAF. They mention the stadium a couple of times.

I heard Bud Light now flows from the drinking fountains at Martin Stadium. Maybe that's why.

Nah, starts this Saturday. I was very sad when I heard they were selling beer... only to find out it starts the 2nd week for WSU.

Probably won't sell much this weekend, they are playing in Boise

Ah that's right. I don't follow WSU Football, all I knew was they weren't selling at our game

Well, they were pouring some strong drinks in the alumni tailgate, so... ;) ;)

Interesting that the game with UNI isn't a sellout yet. The scary thing is that we're eventually going to come to a problem where fans re-evaluate how interested they are in coming to a game just to sit in rotten seats with bad sight lines.

Obviously, the people on this board are "all in" and it isn't an issue to us. But for the casual Spokane fan, I'm sure it sucks to spend the time and money coming to Cheney and getting stuck in a crappy GA seat. And let's face it, you have to build your fanbase by turning the casual fans into hardcore fans. That's hard to do when you leave a bad taste due to the poor seating on the East side.

EWU raised ticket prices significantly this year too, and sitting in crappy aluminum bleachers for $35 isn't quite as easy of a sell. If the east side were steeply pitched seats where everyone isn't walking in front of you all game, $35 would be a bargain.
