Ron,
I don't care how much you and others may think the Project is DOA. I have given up many years ago, however this New AD Lynn Hickey, could surprise many of us, and that is what I am hoping for. She worked very hard before she got here attempting to get us a 5th Game, she succeeded, made a bold decision to ask for donations April 28, at the Lobster Rib Dinner Dance, and she again succeeded, over $24,000.00 for Scholarships. Just being around her make me feel very positive, and many years ago my good feelings was gone. I am willing to give her a chance to get things done, only hope it is before I leave this Beautiful World, I am not getting any YOUNGER. Let us all hope for the BEST. Vic E. Wallace
I'm with you Vic. Let's give Lynn a chance. Ya never know....

go Eags!

Lynn Hickey - a random woman that just got here 5 minutes ago is going to get the Gateway Project done?? Smh

I would much rather see the Vic Wallace student athletes center than the Vic Wallace bleachers

I think new AD Lynn Hickey may get something done. She seems to be a determined winner..hate's losing. So, if she is determined to do something about visitors side that will will be a signature accomplishment that she leaves behind it will be good. Although not a huge thing, getting Football players some extra grub while they beat the shit out of their bodies for our enjoyment is a smart move. It's the right thing to do. I remember not that long ago the program made players buy their own sack snack to eat before bed. So she's smart imo and will know how to get things done...the right way.

While your point is valid, look at the bright side.... Before Hickey got here, there was nothing at all being done is this regard. At least we've got a fresh set of eyes and new enthusiasm for the project. I feel a lot more optimistic about it now than I did a year ago.

Is there "new enthusiasm for the Gateway Project" that I am unaware of? And more optimism? Based on what? I'd love to feel more optimistic about the Gateway Project too but the GP has a price tag of $70 million & Baldwin is gone! Beau Baldwin & possibly Chaves (I don't know much about him) are the reason for the Red turf & HD video board. I don't think Aaron Best can duplicate the results of Baldwin on the football field, and because of that I think interest in the program could begin to die out & so can attendance. If that happens where's the need for an expanded stadium?

I'd put the Red Turf on Chaves. Baldwin was great, sure, but up to that point he hadn't seen the unprecedented success just yet.

My optimism is in Lynn's resume. Not sure how EWU landed her, but that's not the type of resume you'd usually see at an FCS program like EWU. She has a proven history of getting things done, and certainly seems adept at getting $$$.

ok, who's job was it to tell BLACKFALKIN bout the new improved Gateway Project!? Oh yeah it was Vic's job...way to drop the ball Vic. All I do know someone is paying attention and Hickey may very well be known, when she leaves, as the person who did or didn't get anything done on the visitors side. She has a track record at University of Texas at San Antonio. Doubt she wants her legacy to end at EWU without her stamp on that side of the field. Trying real hard to be positive and very well may be dependent on President Cullinan full attention/support/$$. At the very least I'll chip in to cover up that embarrassment referred to as the visitors side eyesore with a tarp from Walmart (they're on sale).

I dont know Vic & I'm not sure why you're bringing him up. What I do know is that your statement:
"Doubt she wants her legacy to end at EWU without her stamp on that side of the field."

is guesswork. How would you know what she wants? How would EWU fans know what her focus is, & what her attention is on? What guarantee do EWU fans have that the eastside of Roos Field is on the agenda at all? Please tell me...... Fact is, with all do respect, as of May 2018 Hickey hasn't (neither has Cullinan) made plans to renovate Roos Field's eastside & there lies the problem.

Blackfalkin- the Gateway Project is dead. There is discussion about expanding Roos Field and making substantial investments in athletic facilities. But the Gateway Project won't happen. Someone can correct me if they've heard differently.

Correct. It's dead. Not sure it had much life beyond some discussion and brochures. With the new PUB almost done, it wouldn't even be as needed on that grand of a scale anyway. Stick to an athletic facility for more than half the price and most people would be thrilled.

Blackfalkin, most of what I said was opinion based so take it for what it's worth. Today Hickey has been AD for one month. I'm sorry you don't know Vic.

Obzerver,
Sorry if I forgot to inform personnel about the "Gateway Project". Honestly I have given up on it for quite a while. But for 20 years I have been going the Red/White Games, and no one ever asked for donation. That is Why I feel so positive of AD hickey, the way she spoke April 28, and she did ask for donations. AD Hickey I think will do something, what? I don't know. The only other person ever asked for donation was Former AD Scott Barnes, I remembered he took me into Reece Court in one of the BB Coach Office, and started with his sales pitch, he succeeded, I donated for about 5 years, and we now have what you see, and his asking came after the building was half up. I don't know what it is that we are always "Sucking Hind Tits, everyone one else is getting monies to build, and we are just stuck in gear. I don't have to mention their names, I am sure all of you knows who they are. Have a Memorial Day Weekend. Vic E. Wallace

Obzerver,
I hope Skyler will make a trip to EWU pretty soon to catch up on what is going on here. I think we will have another GREAT Team this year, the Coaches have all been here for a year, and should be ready to take the HORNS and deliver. Was nice seeing you at one of the Basketball Game last year. Vic E. Wallace

I’m hoping one day I’ll get to bring my family to an EWU home FB game and not be embarrassed by the current bleachers on the eastside.

GoEags!!

We all agree something needs to be done on the east side. I hope we don't settle for something that's just okay though. We can do something special over there. If we're going to do it....let's do it right the first time.

go eags!

Blackfalkin;
That is exactly the course we are on, even nicer bleachers than are currently on the east side.

The Gateway Project is dead dude! Accept it. The Gateway Project never had a chance & that was with Beau Baldwin & Bill Chaves employed by EWU.

It’s time to move on, & if a feasible grandstand, with a max capacity of 5,000 seats (with no plumbing), isn’t what’s on the drawing board, this isn’t getting done!

Btw, how could one accept the existing north endzone structure, but not be in favor of an identical, larger structure on the eastside!? :tothehand:

Lastly, with 4,000 additional seats in Roos Field at an average ticket price of $22.50... That’s $90,000 in revenue PER HOME GAME! Game. Set. Match! :coffee:
