ODU tears down recently renovated Foreman Field ($24.8 million in 2009) and rebuilds now SB Ballard Stadium, ($67.5 million) a more modern 22,500 seat stadium. Seems like the university & their AD feel more comfortable securing private funding to support athletic staff, budgets etc AFTER the
desired stadium gets built.
That’s a ton of progress and you’ve got to give ODU credit somewhere. Are these the correct steps a program should take? Eastern has sold out tons of games in the same span, Eastern could also adopt this Build Now/Raise Later ideal too.. right? EWU isn’t the first program that needed a stadium expansion.
“So we’re evaluating where our program stands financially within Conference USA...” (ex. salaries, travel & recruiting)
“...And the best way you can do that is to enhance their budget capacity through private funding, and that’s going to be our next big area of emphasis.”
