• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Roos Field Renovation

After listening to Lynn Hickey at halftime and others input on the reasoning and concept behind the stadium renovation I'm warming up to the entirety of the project. Like they are taking care of the track team and others along the way. I'm all in!

Despite what the plan may seem, I don't think it's intended to be done in phases. Instead it seems to break down the project in smaller chunks to show where the money is being spent.

What were the main points? (If you don’t mind)

Heavy, I've heard Hickey and two other people talk on renovation and showed plans to an architect and a marketing specialist and asked their opinion and asked some "why" questions so this is what my overall impressions are now opposed to my 1st impression which wasn't that positive. Some are paraphrased to get pt across so not verbatim.
1) They want to keep the intimate atmosphere of our passionate fan base. This is reasoning behind no addition seats...for now..with plans to expand.
2) Marketing guy used GU basketball as analogy. They coulda added seats but choose not to. Keep it a close knit, hard to get tickets, expensive tickets, good seating...equates to more revenue cause premium seats will jack prices up(for all tickets) and there will be a demand for tickets. Supply and demand.
3) We didn't sell out our first game at home after going to Frisco...how's that happen? There were to many open seats even in premium seats whish are season ticket holders...where were they? That's some weak sauce we didn't sell out.
4) They will push seats closer to field and move track and give more room to them and other people who use the red turf (soccer uses it for example in spring to keeep from damaging grass fields).
5) Seating currently sucks. Too smal not enough room. Now add those seat backs and it gets tight quick. One was in front of me and there was no place to put my knees. They are suppose to have more knee room and more ass space with new seats. I buy three tickets so my wife and and I have room to enjoy our experience.
6) Aesthetically it will be pleasing to the eye. Both sides will be even in height. Move media over to visitor side for camera views of a crowd instead of that thing on visitor side. Hickey actually said we will have a stadium that looks like a collegiate stadium and reflect the schools progressive nature as a top level institution (I like that). That is the reason to remove end zone seats...for aesthetics. They can bring in seats for bigger games.
7) Revenue revenue revenue...not hammered but it's huge backdrop to renovation. With a ton more premium seats and general seating improved getting a ticket will be in demand and we will pay for them. I won't seat on visitor side any more but when that side improves where my ass is planted and offers some covering I will probably reconsider.
8) Speaking of visitor side will also consider if they put descent bathrooms and concessions.
9) They are saying time line is an aggresive 18-24 months and multiple things will be going on at same time. I'm optimistic they can pull it off with some creative marketing options. They mention expansion...expansion done right.
10) I Like the plan and I like the look. It's not bat crazy and 25 mill should be attainable..if not we suck.
* Prettys sure I'm missing some things that others will pick up..it's solid.

I am sure the powers that be have researched what others charge for seats, ex. @Jacksonville state you have two options, 125. for Club seats or 12. for gen ad. which are a metal bench without back.
So it is not necessary to increase seats to increase revenues. Most important is to provide quality game day experience. With that said I hope there is an expansion to include end zone seating ASAP to raise noise levels. Underthose stands may be good location for new locker rooms, weight room, whatever.

Anyone hear if they will be promoting the funding effort...example: some type of a chart or a graph showing how things are going....like a GOFUND ME?

I am wondering that too, is there going to be a way where we can see how much we have raised? Do we get know more details if we make a donation to the university?

Dopa- you mind sharing with me too?

I was a little surprised they didn't have pledge forms or something at the game. They had a guy manning the renderings and handing out flyers, but why not capitalize on excitment and perhaps people having a few pops at the tailgate??

Ok, I'm starting to see the big picture. This is a renovation not an expansion, and I’m totally on board. Also, I'm no longer disappointed that the capacity isn’t increasing, I see where they’re going with this:

1. New press/media box and convert existing tower to all suites = more revenue.
2. Same capacity but roughly 1,000 more chairback seats = more revenue per seat!
3. Two sections with covered seating also offers an additional outdoor seating option that can be a money maker during bad weather games.
4. Endzone seating removed, however they’re going for more of a uniform, bowl design. Love it!

This plan is actually very forward-thinking because it’ll give EWU FB more options to create said revenue. A modern, spacious stadium (without a freakin’ track) with the same capacity creates that more “sought after” ticket, but with a higher price tag. ATS & GoEags!

Will construction affect us fans during football season? Such as seating since the seats are going to be upgraded

Lynn said on an interview on 700 ESPN that all renovations would happen in off season and not effect season games.
