I'm hearing Stitt is a confirmed "no", as his contract at Mines pays him more than what Downing made last season.

Doesn't seem like a definite no, here's an article on it from the Trib.
http://www.greeleytribune.com/article/20101118/SPORTS/711189975/1051&ParentProfile=1001

Sounds like if UNC came up with the money it could be a possibility.

How about Jed Stugart? He's a local guy who loves UNC and Greeley. Was D Coordinator under Dalton, worked with Glenn, has D1 experience, as well as Head Coaching experience, his team is currently undefeated and the favorite to win the National Championship. Not a huge name in the coaching ranks but definitely a guy who understands UNC and loves it.

WRT that Greeley Tribune article...does anyone else think that those salaries listed at the bottom seem REALLY low....geez! That MUST be fixed if we are to attract and retain someone who can make a large, positive contribution to the football team!

As an FYI (the coaching staff that was fired last time):

KAY DALTON: Head coach, $76,500
ROD DOBBS: Offensive coordinator, $50,760
JED STUGART: Defensive coordinator, $43,000
BRETT HARVEY: Offensive line/tight ends, $34,498
BRAD BUNTING: Defensive secondary/special teams, $36,464
KEITH GRABLE: Running backs/recruiting coordinator, $31,459
LARRY ADAMS: Wide receivers, part-time, $5,341

Now, I'm still willing to see some assaults in the police blotter if it translates to a couple more wins. But hey, that's me.
No crap - need a few tough guys to pave the way for the nice guys.

Hey, if you are not willing to stab someone in the leg over a spot on the team, then you don't belong here. :D

I smell a great 'Where Are They Now' opportunity for the Trib.

Stitt from Mines doesn't do much for me. He's only made the playoffs two times and once since 2004. That's even in the weak RMAC. If we go the D2 route, I wouldn't mind the CSU-Pueblo guy.

Stitt is funny he is already campaigning for more money I'd say pass. He seems to think the H.C.'s salary is the difference in wins and not facilities or conference, sorry, if I'm a H. S. Senior I care less what the H.C. makes I just want to see the facilities and the conference I'm in. So Stitt to me seems like a little bitch, screw that guy he's just looking to get paid.

I got the same feeling when I read the article about him in the Tribune. He sends out the message that he is only in this game for the money. We need someone who really wants the challenge and sees the potential of the team and has the skills to take us to a chanpionship. Everyone want to make as much as possible and the right one will realize that this is an opportunity to someday make the big money. Our old basketball coach found this out and it paid off pretty good for him.

I can see where he's coming from though. It's about the coaches and not the facilities. There are some on this board that bitch and bitch not to name names, but they start with Brian and Blofeld and they're not donating to the B and G club. How in the world do you guys expect us to win without the money to get better coaches? You can't do it on this level. D2 yes, not in the Big Sky. I don't make a lot of money off of my business, but I donate what I can. I think it should be the same as if you don't vote in elections. If you don't vote, you shouldn't have a right to complain. Some of us our not putting our money where our mouths are. It's all about the Benjamin's folks!!!!

I agree coaching shouldn't all be about the money. I think he has some good points though. Also I think he might have a little beef with UNC now after being passed over for a guy like Downing. 5 years ago he might have been more willing to take a pay cut, now after seeing who he got passed over and what they did he's probably thinking to himself if I'm gonna go there now they are going to have to pay me.

As far as donating, I know a lot of peeps on this board do. I myself dont, simply because I can't afford to yet. I just graduated last spring, and have yet to find a job in my area, I'm actually back in school taking more classes. I know once I start making that good cheese, I will contribute.

My bad, sorry.

I didn't like Stitt's critical, whiney little tone in that article either. He acts like he has actually accomplished something at Mines when the only reason he's made the playoffs is because they expanded to i think 24 teams. And as can be expected, his team got embarrassed by Grand Valley. When the RMAC schools make the playoffs, it's always the same ol' story.

Hmmm, so if you don't choose to donate then you have no right to complain? What rubbish. I make decent money but get queasy donating money to universities so they can have the best of everything when I feel others need it more.

Hell, it should be one of the drills that they run. Squeeze it in somewhere between the 40 yard dash and the shuttle run.
