The CIT

Good game tonight, crowd was decent, no band or cheer team. The new addition to Butler is looking great, cant wait for it to open.

I fell asleap with about 5 minutes to go (listening to KFKA on the laptop). Really nice to get one more home win for the Seniors.

Looks like we are getting another home game (from college insider.com Monday March 22: QUARTERFINALS Pacific (21-11) @ Northern Colorado (25-7) )

One of the best plays of the night was an alley oop to 5'-9" T.J. Campbell of the Portland Pilots. The kid could jump, it was pretty crazy oop for a smaller guy.

Monday should be a sweet home game with all the students back.

Thought this was interesting.. All UNC students got this e-mail today (Friday) in their Bear account. It reads:

Dear UNC students,

In my time at Northern Colorado, Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion has grown into one of the very best college basketball venues I’ve ever been in -- as a coach or a player. It’s become a place that our players absolutely love to play and our opponents have really started to dread.

And that’s all because of you, the energetic and loyal student fans of Northern Colorado men’s basketball. Our program has accomplished some great things this season, but none of it would have been possible without your outstanding support. You have been the energy behind our historic effort this season, and I and the rest of the Northern Colorado men’s basketball family genuinely appreciate everything you’ve given.

I want to take a quick moment to let you know the fun’s not over yet! We just claimed Northern Colorado’s first postseason victory since 1994 on Wednesday night against Portland in the opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT), and that earned us another home game at 7 p.m. Monday against the Pacific Tigers in the CIT Quarterfinals. By the time the game comes around, we’ll be one of just 40 Division I teams across the country still playing this season, and we need you to come and help us get even deeper into the CIT field.

The noise and the spirit you bring to our home games gives us an incredible edge, and we’re going to need every bit of energy you can spare to get another victory. We’ve worked incredibly hard this season to field a team that you can be proud of, and we’re in great position to win one more time in front of our home fans and further display Northern Colorado’s pride and spirit on a national stage. We need you to help us make that happen!

All UNC students with a valid student ID have gained free admission all season to our games, and that will remain the case Monday night. So, come early, stay late to enjoy our victory, and be loud in everything you do. It’s been a fun ride this year, and I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.

Thanks for your time, and I’ll see you at Butler-Hancock!

Tad Boyle

I'm not so sure that he's leaving any time soon..

Wow, he sure knows how to blow smoke. Hope the students respond to it.

Funny, when I went to UNC there was no such thing as a Bear Account or even email.

You do have a Bear account Brian. Every alum does. Even those like you who went to school there when it was called Colorado Normal School. Ha ha!!!!!

Ouch! Wasn't that long ago but I remember registering for classes over the phone in the middle of the night or from those monitors in the UC.

Well, from what I could hear on the radio, the fans were up for the game. I could tell what was going on before Troy broadcasted it by the reaction from the crowd (which isn't always the case).

Still, quite the season. Well done Bears.

Went to the game, awesome crowd. I was kinda impress with Pacific, they were bigger and could shoot. They sucked at the charity stripe though. Bears played hard, they just had trouble getting some shots to go.

Pacific won that imperative tempo battle. Their zone was killer, certainly the best defensive team that I have seen the Bears go up against this season. Sad ending to Bonner and Figures careers but they should always be remembered in Bears lore for where they brought the program. Coach Boyle came on the microphone at the end of the game and thanked them for their support, told the students they need that effort every game, and said "The best is yet to come". I'm already excited for next year, going to take a couple of days to deal with this weird concoction of emotions of sadness but appreciative.
