The Hornets Against That School Across the Causeway

Way off topic but how is tailgating at Sac State? Are the cops strict? Will they check everyone's ID's if we are drinking? Do they check everyone walking into the gate?

I know it’s a shock to you guys that there is actually a tailgate with alcohol, so just be responsible. And as GCM stated, there are not any Nazi’s at the gate frisking and strip searching, so taking a flask in is doable. ;)

I've only seen one group get carded, they looked pretty young though. My buddies and I tailgate and drink every home game and we've never been talked to by the police, however.

If your under age, beware, you'll most likely miss the game if youre caught. You can get alcohol through the gate, it just depends on where you hide it on your person. I have been with someone caught drinking inside, cough Hornut cough, that was caught. All they did was have him turn it over to them (Raleigh Field security in red polo's  ) a.k.a. the Red Coats. They did remind the person that they could have him removed, but it didnt go any further.

For the most part, if your acting responsibly, and your of age, you wont even notice that there is a police presence. They arent going to target aggies if that's what youre thinking.

I will enjoy tailgating to the fullest SDHornet. One thing we can all agree on is that no tailgating at UCD blows. It bothers me that we don't have such a vital part of the gameday experience.

Yeah I remember going to catch a Causeway at old Toomey Field when I was a student. So a few buddies and I went expecting to find a designated tailgate area; needless to say we were disappointed. I always question what kind of fans and student body tolerates that kind of nonsense. All one needs to do is pick up a history book and look under “prohibition”. It didn’t work then and won’t work now. The sad thing is this non-alcohol nonsense doesn’t make anyone safer. It just forces people to booze at home then drive to the game, or like me and my buddies did and park somewhere, booze, walk to the game, booze more, then make it home. Well done by “the farm extension” admin. Way to connect with the real world.

UC Davis (6-4) at Sacramento State (4-6), 5:05 p.m.

The Causeway Classic takes place for the 57th time this weekend between UC Davis and Sacramento State.

The two teams met first in 1954 and have played every year since. Last season, the Aggies won 29-19 and have won the previous eight meetings.

UC Davis has won two straight this season after taking down North Dakota 28-20, outgaining the Fighting Sioux 378-265.

Some of the notables on the Aggies' 40th-ranked offense are quarterback Greg Denham (2,625 yards passing, 17 TDs), running back Joe Trombetta (371 yards rushing, four TDs) and wide receiver Chris Carter (76 catches, 10.6 average, three TDs). Carter led the effort against UND with nine catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, the Aggies have allowed 27 points per game, but have held their last two opponents to a total of 30 points. Linebacker Mike Morales (76 tackles) and cornerback Kenneth Brown (eight pass breakups, three interceptions) are key performers.

Sacramento State fell to Montana State, 27-17 to finish the season at 4-4 in Big Sky play.

The potent offense as of late was held to just 312 yards, with quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson (513 yards passing) passing for 269 yards. However, the junior was picked off three times. Brandyn Reed (39 catches, 15.3 average, five TDs) and John Hendershott (32 catches, 15.2 average, two TDs) are the top receiving targets.

Freshman running back Sam McCowan (326 yards rushing, four TDs) leads a Hornets' rushing attack that doesn't have a true no. 1 running back.

SSU's defense ranks 114th in FCS, but held a solid Montana State defense to just 349 yards. The unit features standouts defensive tackle Christian Clark (38 tackles, 15 tackles for loss) and safety Zach Schrader (98 tackles, four interceptions).

SACRAMENTO STATE 28, UC DAVIS 24

The TSN poll has the Hornets favored by 4! However, some of their info is wrong, they say that UCD won last years game, WTF :x ! There are is also mention of a defense when they were talking about offense. They also mention Clark, but dont mention his 10 sacks.

GO HORNETS!

Just a quick note for the Aggie fans, farm animals not included.
