The PAC/MWC Dominoes Begin to Fall

Pure speculation, but seems like there is some steam building behind Sacramento State as a football only PAC-12 invitee????
Why? We offer baseball, softball, VB, soccer, tennis, golf and bball. Wouldn’t Pac be more interested in full membership?

If bball hadn’t sucked ass for 30yrs, we might have gotten a sniff.

WSU just cut their T&F programs, so I’d think T&F isn’t a required sport.

I noticed too. Whether it happens or not, they are again conspicuously being mentioned quite a bit in football realignment news and the recruiting hasn't slowed down.

Forgot where I read it on Twitter, but someone suggested the reason for the Pac-12 delay announcement of final members could be because of the Sac State situation.

If you think about it, a way for the NCAA to save itself from allowing and Independent school or avoiding a lawsuit is to ask a conference to take Sac State in. I really think the Committee stepped in it with their Twitter explanation for denial.

It's probably just click bait. Agree about hoops sucking for so long as the PAC will be a power hoops conference going forward. If the PAC wanted Hornet football right now, a football only invite would have been issued and there wouldn't be a need for the waiver.

Agree, it's just weird to see how the cycle of rumors goes.... It was announced this AM that CBS secured the media rights for the PAC. This makes sense considering the "basketball conference" mentality it will have.

The biggest rumor is that Texas St. will be announced at the ninth member today. AND that there is a "mystery school" in line for a 10th member, 9th FULL member spot?

Interesting. MW had a contract with CBS, so looks like the PAC yanked that from the MW. Not a surprise as all the valuable MW brands will be in the PAC starting July 1, 2026.

Process of elimination told us that Texas State has been the obvious full 8th member for a few months ever since the PAC was unable to lure the prime AAC targets. A full 9th member is probably one of the AAC Texas schools to pair with Texas State.

It's gotta be UTSA + Texas State.

I'm not UTSA qualifies as a bombshell as JY suggests. As a travel partner, it makes sense. Either way, the shuffling of conference members keeps Sac State in play.
