Mandi Ortega had 10 of those blocks herself which tied the individual school record originally set by Lori Heeter also in 1992. Ortega would be named first team all-Big Sky Conference that year as well as the following one. She was named to the Big Sky postseason tournament team in 1997 and four times was named Big Sky Player of the Week. She only played two seasons for the Bengals.

January 14, 1982 – Idaho State set the school record when they attempted a staggering 105 shots in an 83-50 win at Central Washington.

January 15, 2010 – It doesn’t pay to foul Andrea Videbeck. ISU was leading at Weber State 47-46 with just over a minute left when the Wildcats started fouling. ISU was smart to keep getting to ball to Videbeck, an excellent free throw shooter and she converted 10 straight to win the game 57-49. She scored the final 10 points for the Bengals and finished with 19 points, five rebounds, nine assists and a steal in 38 minutes.

January 16, 2012– It was another notch in the belt on the road to a championship. Portland State, the preseason pick of both the coaches and the media to win the conference, rolled into Reed Gym looking to take the undefeated Bengals down a notch. They were unsuccessful as ISU blew them out 78-63 to remain unbeaten in conference play. Chelsea Pickering led Idaho State with 21 points, including the shot of the season. On a drive she tried to split two defenders… there was contact and she tossed the ball up over her head, spinning, without really being able to see the basket to the left of the lane. The prayer was answered though! Cydney Horton had 16 points; Kaela Oakes had 13 for ISU.

January 17, 2008 Natalie Doma was a great scorer and part of the reason was because she was an excellent free throw shooter. In a game against Montana at Reed Gym, Doma was a perfect 16 for 16 from the charity stripe in the Bengals 90-77 win. The perfect percentage from the line is a school record. She finished the night with 30 points overall and 11 rebounds.

January 19, 1993 – The Bengals defeated Southern Utah 71-58 at home. It was the programs 200th victory. Ted Anderson was the head coach.

January 24, 2008Natalie Doma was the only Bengal player “on” in a game against No. Arizona. She had a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds but the Bengals lost 82-67. Doma would have 64 double-doubles in her ISU career when all was said and done.

January 26, 2006Natalie Doma’s amazing two week stretch of games continued in a tough 82-81 win in overtime at Weber State. Doma poured in 29 points on 12 of 19 shooting with nine rebounds in the game. Three other Bengals scored in double figures to help her out.

January 28, 2016 – It was the textbook definition of a team win even involving the coaching staff. ISU was locked in a tight contest with So. Utah at the Centrum when head coach Seton Sobolewski was ejected for only the second time in his career. Up stepped assistant coach Mike Trujillo to guide the team down the stretch which saw the Bengals win 71-67. Anna Lee Policicchio had 19 points for the Bengals. Apiphany Woods scored 16, Lindsay Brown 15 and Brooke Blair 12. Plus freshman Saylair Grandon had a break out game with six points and five rebounds in eight minutes down the stretch.

January 29, 2011 – A Saturday afternoon game at home against Eastern Washington turned into a memorable day for Ash Vella. The Melbourne, Australia native had an outstanding shooting game in the Bengals 75-69 win. Vella had 27 points on 11 of 14 shooting. She went 2 for 4 from three point range and 3 of 4 from the free throw line.

January 30, 2016 – ISU dropped a tough game to No. Arizona 63-62 on a last second basket in Flagstaff. It was the fifth and final one point game of the season which set the program record. The old mark was three games decided by a single point attained the previous year, 2014-2015. The “Cardiac Kids” would play a total of 11 games in the 2015-2016 season decided by three points or less on their way to the Big Sky postseason championship game.

February 2, 2006 – It was a highlight game for ISU’s Natalie Doma. The post player scored 31 points in the Bengals 84-74 win over Montana State in Bozeman. Doma shot 11 of 15 from the floor and 9 for 9 from the line. She added eight rebounds in 25 minutes of play. Over a four game stretch which started on January 19, she averaged 27.5 points and almost nine rebounds per game!

February 4, 2017 – It became known as the “Cedar City Comeback.” With 2:28 left in regulation ISU was down 12 points at So. Utah…then the first miracle happened. Saylair Grandon’s three started a 12-1 run in the next 1:35 to cut the Thunderbirds lead to one. ISU hit four consecutive three point shots in that stretch. The game would eventually go all the way to a second overtime when the second miracle took place. Down eight with 1:38 remaining, Estefania Ors knocked down a three to start a 10-0 run in the next 1:10 to give the Bengals the lead. Ors would drop a three ball off the wing to put ISU ahead. It was also her birthday. The final score was 71-68. Five ISU players scored in double figures led by Lindsay Brown with 15.

February 6, 2012 – Montana has always been the power in the Big Sky Conference for women’s basketball. It doesn’t happen often an opponent can get a win. On this night though, ISU made it two wins over the Grizzlies in the regular season beating them at Reed Gym 54-48. They won in Missoula a month earlier. That marked only the second time in program history the Bengals swept Montana and legendary coach Robin Selvig. Kayla Oakes had 16 points in the win and Ash Vella added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

PBP

PBP

In a 79-60 win over Sacramento St. at the ICCU Court at Reed Gym, Kenyon almost recorded a triple-double. She finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, falling one short of accomplishing the rare feat.

PBP

February 14, 1994 – The Bengals Nicole Davis was named the Big Sky Player of the Week award winner thanks to her performance in the games against No. Arizona and Weber State. Davis scored 23 points, had 24 rebounds, blocked 10 shots and added three steals in those contests. ISU won them both.
