Largest attendance I can remember at a game i attended men or women.
Unfortunately I can't find the exact attendance in the media guide / box score but as I recall it was over 3,000.

March 11, 2016 – In the semi-finals of the expanded Big Sky Conference postseason tournament, the Bengals Anna Lee Policicchio set the school record for most blocked shots in a season when she recorded her 85th rejection. She passed Mandi Ortega who originally set the mark in the 1996-1997 year. Policicchio got three in the 69-54 win over No. Dakota. She ended the season with 88, getting three more in the finals loss the next day to Idaho. Apiphany Woods scored 15 points to lead ISU and Tressa Lyman was a major contributor with 15 rebounds, nine points and two blocked shots.

The women played in Holt Arena during the 2000-2001 season. My memory is that that were 5,000 people at the championship game. I don't know if a men's game has had that many people in attendance since then or not (I remember a crowd of 8500 or so at a men's game against Idaho during Potter's junior year, maybe 1993-- and this was well after they moved the court to the north side of the dome).

March 12, 2009 – It was a wild game and the first post season win for Bengals head coach Seton Sobolewski as ISU came from behind to beat Sacramento State 78-76 in overtime in the quarter finals of the Big Sky Conference post season tournament being played in Missoula. Jenna Brown’s shot tied the game with three seconds left to force the overtime and then Oana Iacovita’s jumper from the free throw line, off the assist from Brown, won it with one second remaining. Brown tied the Big Sky post season record for most minutes played in a game when she logged 45. Devin Diehl and Sheila Adams played 44 minutes and Michelle Grohs played 42.

March 13, 2012 – On the strength of a Big Sky regular season and postseason tournament title Seton Sobolewski was named the Big Sky Coach of the year. The vote was unanimous as the Bengals went 24-8 when the season ended in the NCAA Tournament and were 16-2 in Big Sky Conference play counting their two post season wins.

March 14, 2014 – ISU closed out their season with a 78-53 loss to host No. Dakota in the semi-finals of the Big Sky Conference postseason tournament. Even so it was a special day for Bengal Kara Jenkins. Perhaps one of the greatest “team or glue” players in Idaho State history, K.J. played in her 124th contest. That set the school record for most games ever played. Jenkins broke the mark of 123 games which was originally set by Ash Vella. In her last game Kara played all 40 minutes in the loss.

March 17, 2001 – At the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Nashville, Idaho State was beaten by the host school Vanderbilt 83-57. Chris Urbanski had 20 points in the losing cause to lead ISU including hitting six three balls… that same year she was also a Big Sky Conference scholar-athlete award winner. The season before Urbanski also was named Big Sky Player of the Week. The game also turned out to be the last for head coach Ardie McInelly who because of a disagreement with the administration over the status of an assistant coach, left to take the position at the Air Force Academy.

March 20, 2008 Natalie Doma closed out her ISU career scoring 13 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in a 77-54 loss to Boise State in the first round of the WNIT at Taco Bell Arena. * 695 points scored in the 2007-2008 season was the most in program history for one year.
* 24.8 scoring average for the 2007-2008 season was the best in ISU history for one year.
* 26 double-doubles in the 2007-2008 season was a school record for one year.
* Her 2,296 career points are the most in Big Sky history for women’s basketball.
* Her average of 19.1 points per game was a school record. (Minimum two seasons played)
* Her 859 field goals made are the most in Big Sky history for women’s basketball.

* Was a three time all-Big Sky Conference first team selection, M.V.P. 2007-2008 season.
* Was a four time selection to the postseason all-Big Sky team, was named post M.V.P. in 2007.
* 13 times named the Big Sky Player of the Week.

March 22, 2004 – It had happened only twice previously that two individuals were named Big Sky Conference Co-Coaches of the year but such was the case this time for a third time. Montana’s Robin Selvig shared the award with the Bengals Jon Newlee. ISU went 20-9 that year and had the second best turnaround record from the previous year in the nation.

PBP

March 27, 2002 Jon Newlee was named the new Bengals head coach replacing interim coach Lynn Kennedy who took over midseason for the fired Shirley Huyett. Newlee came from Hawaii where he was an assistant coach. Under Jon, the Bengals righted themselves and had tremendous success making the NCAA and WNIT Tournaments during his time in charge. Newlee then left ISU to take the position at Idaho.

April 11, 2008 – Idaho State was informed by the NCAA statistics staff that the 83.2 per cent free throw percentage shot by the team during the 2007-2008 season not only was the best in college basketball that year but was also the NCAA's all-time record, regardless of division, and regardless of gender. The previous women’s record was 82.6 per cent set by Division III’s Rose-Hulman in the 2005-06 season and the men’s record was set by Harvard at 82.2 per cent in 1983-84. Seven ISU players shot at least 80% from the free throw line that year.

PBP

April 27, 2017 – Eight ISU players were named to the all-Big Sky academic team. That set a school record. Five previous times seven were named to the team. The eight players honored for the 2016-17 season were Saylair Grandon, Brittany Kochenderfer, Freya Newton, Grace Kenyon, Estefania Ors, Sai Tapasa, Bianca Thacker and Irene Vicente. Four times now ISU has had at least seven players named to the team under head coach Seton Sobolewski.

May 27, 2008 Seton Sobolewski was named as the new head coach for Idaho State women’s basketball. He became the 12th person to hold the position. Seton came from UC Riverside where he was an assistant coach for six years. He now holds every major coaching record in program history including most games coached (281), most wins (150), most conference games coached (166) and most conference game wins (90).

He's helped ISU win both a Big Sky regular season and post season tournament championship. ISU has played in both the NCAA and the WNIT tournaments under him and in his nine years as head coach he's had five overall winning seasons (plus one season at .500) and six winning seasons (plus one season at .500) in conference play.

June 7, 2001 – After failing to reach a compromise with the school over the status of an assistant coach, Ardie McInelly resigned to take the head coaching position at the Air Force Academy. McInelly was a two time Big Sky Coach of the Year award winner and played a large part in helping turn around the program. Under her direction ISU made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in March 2001.

PBP

June 29, 2001 – After a search Shirley Huyett was hired to take over as head coach of the Bengals women’s program. She came from Southern Oregon where she had been the head coach for 11 seasons. Her husband, Ernie, was also named an assistant coach. Huyett’s tenure did not last long. She was put on leave by the school after only 20 games after a player revolt and a record of 8-12. Controversies surrounded her and under the circumstances it was felt a parting was best for all concerned which happened shortly afterwards.

NOTE: This will be the last entry until November 2017. Will return with new historical notations at that time in this same thread.

The new season starts in a few weeks and the first notation for 2017-2018 for This Day in ISU Women's Basketball will be on November 11.

November 11, 2016 – Starting a college athletic career is difficult for anyone but at times there are exceptions. Estefania Ors was one of those. The international player from Spain scored 23 points in her first game as a Bengal at Santa Clara. She also had five rebounds, two steals and an assist. She would score in double figures in the first five college games she ever played for ISU.
