Uh oh....

I'd like to know what the allegations are as things the NCAA considers serious can be pretty laughable like too much yogurt on the training table was something a school got busted for once.

My votes:

Derrick Clark -- Head coach at Metro State
Jean Prioleau -- Associate head coach at CU

Clark, by far and away, is my first choice. Had breakfast next to him while he was pitching a recruit and he is a stud. Aside from that, his record speaks for itself: http://roadrunnersathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=261

Prioleau should already have a head job somewhere. It's surprising he doesn't.

First of all, if it sounds like I dislike coach Hill that hasn't been my intention. For those of you who have followed this forum you know I'm more of a fan of the kids than coach Hill. Most of the frequent posters fall into two camps: 1) Those that critique kids and 2) those that critique coaches. The common bond, we are all BB fans.

UNC is definitely at a cross road. The administration had better learn from recent history and that means looking at the program scabs and all. Is this forum the place to do it? Maybe maybe not. Applicants for the head job won't be hard to come by. Lets hope they find the right guy for the kids and university!!!!

It's good that we have our two top recruits still coming. Ransom and Davis have both said they will still be Bears. Not sure about the other big man, but Ransom and Davis are key.

Nothing we can do but focus on the future, I totally agree. But I'm still way curious regarding the investigation and weather or not former players (Mcdavis included) had a hand in it.

I have spent some time around Mike Rohn of CU and he's head coach material all the way! He'd be my vote if I had one. I know Prioleau a little bit as well and he comes off a little rough around the edges, but you dont become Tad's associate head coach without being capable. I think we'd be pretty lucky to get either one of those guys. Regardless of who we hire, I just hope they can do it soon. The team was scheduled to go to Italy in August and it would be a huge bummer if that gets cancelled for those kids. Talk about the trip of a lifetime....wait, maybe not.

Hoopsfan, I totally agree. I think we all want to know what went on that led to this.....its tough to say much objectively given what little is public knowledge other than its a Level I violation, and had the violation been something egregious, it would have likely gotten public no matter what. As far as my preference on the next coach, I watch CU consistently.....I got to know Tad during his first few months here, and I think the world of him. Based on what I've seen of Pri and Rohn, I don't think we could go wrong by hiring either. Both are head coach material, and both have been intrical to the job Tad has been able to do in Boulder. Here's my biggest thing-I don't know how many here remember the search that brought Tad to UNC 10 years ago. While the result was an obvious success, the process was a train wreck. Jay made a lowball offer to Tad and might have made one to Brooks Thompson as well, and started interviewing whoever would listen (Remember Tim Carter?) after he was turned down by Tad. After he couldn't find somebody he wanted, he went back to Tad in late April or early May (I can't remember which) and gave him the money he wanted. That can't happen this time. Darren Dunn seems like a capable AD, and he did a great job finding Kamie Etheridge. Any coaching change that comes about because the NCAA is investigating your program is insanely difficult. He's gotta get the guy he wants pretty quickly.

hoel4800 is right, we need to move quickly. Ideally I think a high-major assistant is the best option for us. Alot of times those guys are tired of being under a head coach's command for so long and want to venture out on their own. Hopefully we can get a guy with good Colorado connections because basketball in the state is getting better and better.

I will say though, the first order of business this guy will have to deal with is making sure everyone stays (including incoming freshman) I remember when BJ got the job he flew to Texas 2 days later to ensure that Paul Garnica and Tevin Svihovec were still all in. I just hope the guys who have decided to stay for next don't end up following Jordan Wilson and company. Johnson and Verhagen need to have big summers from a workout and leadership standpoint. Hopefully they will gel quickly with whoever we hire.

Regarding Johnson & Verhagen, Johnson has the potential to be a leader and All-Conference and Verhagen needs to get in that weight room ! I think Jeremy has the potential to be a force but he gets pushed around under the basket. And hopefully this new coach gets chosen quickly !

I think we should at least pursue the CU coaches and assistants from Montana and Weber State. I'd also reach out to the coach at Metro State. Its not a marquee position and there needs to be some patience in light of expected sanctions from the NCAA. I realize it doesn't pay well, but if your successful it opens up other opportunities.

UNC, where coaches and their dreams fade away into pathetic ineptitude in the trash filled gutter of Division 1 sports...

I keep hearing Derrick Clark is having trouble on the recruiting trail at Metro. Not sure what to make of him, and I can't say I'd rather see UNC hire him over Rohn or Prioleau. In terms of the Montana and Weber staffs, I saw several resumes that don't look much different from the one that B.J. Hill has, and Ken Bone. Bone did a nice job at PSU and parlayed that into the Washington State job, and failed there. I think thats a statement on how good a coach Tony Bennett is more than anything. 9 out of 10 guys who take that job probably wind up losing it after a few years. I'd look at him. I do like the idea of a Pac-12 assistant coach, though......try these names in addition to the CU assistants: Joe Pasternack (Arizona-he's getting some run at New Mexico State, though), Kevin McKenna/Tony Stubblefield (Oregon).

So still no word on what they actually did?

No. That would require Mustari to actually make some calls and do some basic reporting. We won't know anything until the school, NCAA our the student to newspaper announces the violations.

Some great news!
1) new coach
2) new asst. coach

Bad News!
1) waiting for the next shoe to drop
2) calm before the storm

Important to get out in front of this externally and internally. The silence is deafening. I hope the administration understands the importance of removing the cloud as we recruit new team members.
