UM vs WSU Game Thread

But if Weber players were involved in the kind of activities I'm hearing from very credible people who were at the game, those things go far, far beyond the scope of general frustration. Those activities and actions have NO place in college basketball.

There were about 100 ppl who heard the cracker comment. And berry got dragged out of the area. He was one of 3 that flipped off the crowd. Pictures of it were sent to you school ad and pres. yes deshields got involved, after berry shoved Mathis...i was there, I know. Cherry and deshields got surrounded and escorted off the court. To say your players didn't do anything is asinine and prude. 3 players flipped off the crowd and berry made a racial slur....there are allot of ppl who heard it. I was right there you can't dispute it.......it happened. I know berry got pissed earlier in the game and a official got in his face. Then Otis and Coleman were warned in the game too. Our team didn't disrespect their university by flipping off a crowd and use racial slurs, that was all Weber.

I'm pretty sure I didn't say Weber was innocent. What I did say is that Weber did not start the post game fiasco as Montana fans have implied. And it just seemed convenient that you said you couldn't hear exactly what berry said exactly but you're positive you heard "cracker". My comment was if you are uncertain of what's said lets hold off on posting such a powerful statement that totally contradicts who he is as person. His teammates and coaches & friends know he's far from the person you are attempting to paint.

It was a hard fought game like we've come to expect between the two top teams in the conference.The officiating was suspect with both sides having cause for concern (can't ignore Montana shot 12 more free throws). Tempers were lost on BOTH sides, poor judgment was executed. No Excuses!!!

My point is let's dispute basketball and leave out the racial crap and attempts to target kids and assassinate their character.

HE USED A RACIAL SLUR AT A NCAA EVENT TO A FAN!!! then him and 2 teammates gave the crowd the bird..... idk what weed you smoke but i want some. I suck it up and say yea a few griz football players have been out of line and they are deserving of punishment.

At the end of the day...i hope these kids are sorry for their stupid actions and hot heads. They played a hell of a game and fought till the end. Sometimes you just have to be a good sport and walk off the court with your head held high. They know they get to play us again....maybe 2 more times. Stop standing up for kids who used racial slurs and attacked a fan base for no reason!!

Since you and the account that you created today confirm that he said it. I will man up and say,that's unacceptable and something should and will be done.

It just bothers me how indignant you are to a reaction yet belittling the action of your players and fans that elicited it. There is a such thing as a poor loser but there are also classless winners like Deshields.

Ok, I just feel the need to comment on this one. Yes, tempers did indeed flare on both sides. Yes, both sides deserve some fault, but Keron DeShields (not Shields as someone else posted) is in no way whatsoever a classless winner. Guess what? He does do some talking! He's competitive. Big freakin whoop! :blah: Seriously, if you want to see a player with zero class, look no farther than Gelaun Wheelwright. Starting in the conference semi's last year, he's done nothing but trash talk about how he was the greatest and he was gonna take down the Griz. Weber hadn't even won their game in the semi's and he was already talking smack to Griz fans...hmmmm Seriously though, tempers were flaring, Davion Berry was the worst of it though. I was 20 feet away from that crap he pulled. All he was doing was trying to go back for more.

Respect... I'm waiving the white flag. I made an attempt to support my team and guys who I know are quality individuals despite of the mistakes made. My defending them is perhaps doing them a disservice by bringing more energy to the discussion. I just didn't want Weber or good kids defined by an isolated situation.

We lost the game, we lost our tempers... I'm bowing out this discussion until we even the score in Utah.

Both are quality coaches and even better men.

I concur great game... With the exception of Montana State giving both teams hell this past week, this is as good as it gets in the Sky. Life would be much easier for me if you guys didn't escape! lol Misery loves company. Haha

It's been brought up before, not sure where, but maybe they should do away with the post game handshakes. Let the coaches meet up and do the congrat's and leave the players out of the mix. This isn't rec ball.

I am concerned with the mental toughness of this team though. Two close losses in a row, both games with a skirmish involving Berry and to a smaller extent Otis. I don't know what was said to Berry in either game that set him off (I don't pretend that I would act any differently than he did in the same circumstances) but I am sure other teams are taking note how to get into the Cat's heads. I am sure Rahe will get this straightened out.

As for flippng the bird at the fans it's juvenile, and I bet the team is going to be running gassers today because of it.

Honestly the only game I want the Cat's to win between WSU and UM is the one that matters, March 16, winning in Ogden in Feb is just a bonus.

Wow.. Im sure you were just caught up in the moment? Up until the last :47 sec, we had shot only 4 more than you guys, 21 to 25. The last :47 sec you guys had to foul to catch up, and it worked well, but it caused us to shoot 8 more ft. End total Weebs 21, Griz 32. Overall Big Sky refs suck, but it went both ways, and they were most definitely not the reason you lost. Good luck and cant wait for the game in Ogden. :thumb:

Dang...that's a bit of a far cry from reality! (see what I did there?) But seriously, the calls were terrible both ways and as pointed out above fairly even. The travels all night were atrocious and flagrantly more than the allotted amount of steps. I appreciated the fan who earlier stated that Cherry would be given some favor, but he could deal with it as Lilliard got it for a long time. The reason Montana fans cry more about officials is
1) The BigSky conference's officiating sucks terribly and
2) We have more fans there than anyone besides you guys to say something about it
