Weber State back-to-back

Yeah props to Wyo they have more onions than "win 3 conference games and crash and burn" CU. :P  :D :)

If you have the desire to read some funny ramblings, check out the Weber State basketball board.
They don't have a true grasp that their team (currently 3-4) isn't a Big Sky powerhouse anymore.

I really like that Beitzel can score only 5 points and we still won the game with ease. Seems we really have some guys that can flat out shoot the ball.

Well Bears fans, it looks like its a maybe next year for us Cat fans, you guys are really good this year of course with as many seniors as you have you should be. But the Bears do have to lose at least one game, the game at the Dee next Saturday.

The Bears have a tough road ahead of them, literaly, UM, NAU, MSU, WSU and ISU are no easy road games. But since it most likey would come down to UNC and Montana. I hope you guys win it.

So with the best player in the conference in a while out for the season, who's the new powerhouse in the BSC..... Directional School Colorado HaHaHa. Thanks for the laugh. You guys have never even won a Conference tourney game........ Have the toughest part of your schedule still to play..... You play in a High School Gym........You are undefeated in conference, and had a matchup
with preseason favorite And conference Champion 3 of the last 4 years, and drew a Paltry 2,299 fans last night. Because you can't draw any fans, and sudden arrogance I really hope you guys don't Host it will only be an embarrassment to the conference....

Wow, welcome to the boards. I think there was a thought that if we hosted the tournament, we would do it at a different venue but I hope not. As far as your support comment, it's true our gym is small and we don't pack it but it doesn't change the fact that our basketball team is pretty damn good. We have never won a tournament game but we have not been eligible for very long so give us time.

PS, you know you sound like a Montana fan? That's the same kind of post they would make.

Considering we haven't been at this as long as you guys have (being D1) I would say we're doing pretty well in basketball. As far as facilities? We have the best over-all facilities in the conference. Thanks for posting though.

WHOA Weber Fans!! I for one am not declaring ourselves BSC champs just yet. I know we have a lot of tough road games ahead. But we do have good fans. If you go to Greeley you would realize that the city is not big at all, so drawing fans isn't as conventional as most cities. Our arena and facilities have all been upgraded and are among the best in the conference. Do not give Weber St. fans a bad name. A big majority are good guys and good fans, there is no need to bash the school. Right now Bear fans have something to be happy, no matter who you played 7-0 in the conference is still 7-0. For everybody that thinks the Bears didn't do much in non-conference, just remember two of our rotation players were hurt and didn't play and we had a new coach trying to find his style.

Weber State has an enrollment of around 25k

UNC has about 12K

UNC has only been D1 for a few years now. Give us some time. Besides why would you belittle us? It only makes your school like a bigger failure. Give us some credit.

I agree with all of this, and also, scoreboard.

Additionally, the guy from Not a State State shouldn't be mocking the name of anyone else's school.

Yep, that Weber fan does sound like a Montana fan!! too bad cuz I like Weber!! Way to go Barryisawinnah. If you can play football like you blog, you will be a big asset to the football team

7-0...WTF yall? lol I am not understanding your 4 straight losses prior to conf but it only matters what you do against the big sky. good win this past sat against us. this past weekend gave us our first losing record overall in portland (9-10) and in greeley (2-3).

if weber can't host this year ill root for unc to get it since it has never happened. but i still need a wsu win this coming sat.

sat game should be very interesting and a great one for the first ever big sky altitude game on a saturday if i am not mistaken. weber is 4-0 all time at home vs unc.

weber at home vs big sky

ewu 25-3
isu 42-9
um 39-14
msu 44-11
nau 41-6
unc 4-0
psu 17-1
sac 17-1

weber has pretty much the same record against old big sky foes in gonzaga and idaho in ogden as we do against sac n psu. they combine for 2 wins. Zags were in the sky from 1963-79. idaho 1963-1996.

basically im just hoping history can help us get the dub vs you guys on sat. but after that good luck and win and keep winning!

We had a pretty tough early season schedule that included Illinois & Arizona and we should have won half of our losses. That playing Defense didn't sink in until after Christmas. Now it has sunk in and if the Bears keep there head on straight they can play with anybody. We need the Wildcats to beat Montana after our win in Ogden. HA!

You need to just ignore wsunpurple, they guy is a troll, he does the same stuff on egriz and it just makes him and the rest of us Weber fans look bad.

No we are not the best team in the league, thats obvious, but we are going through some really tough times right now, of course our star player is out for the year,(we are hoping Weber can get his medical redshirt) Hughey is hurt playing on a sore foot he has had since early december, Bamforth is shooting 50% from the 3 point line and he has an aggravated shoulder injury. BJ Porter has a bad back, Mahoney has a calf injury that bothers him, and at times we have 4 underclassmen playing at the same time. Its a rough year for us, and an extremely tough start to conf, we started 5 of our first 7 on the road and those road games where against the other 5 teams that made the tourney last season,(MSU, UM, NAU, PSU, and UNC) thats a rough start for anyone, now Weber finishes with 6 of thier last 9 conf games at home. we are hoping that maybe we can finish as high as 3rd, but only time will tell, Weber needs a win this saturday, and it will probably be the only time in history where Montana fans actually want Weber to win as much as the Weber fans want Weber to win.

Im hoping there will be lots of butts in the Dee on Saturday, the team will need thier help.

Wildcat, I know you are a good fan of basketball not only Weber basketball. Just looking at the Weber site they are just trashing UNC. Saying UNC are choke artists, and that will never win anything. I have always had a lot of respect for Weber fans but a lot of them are seriously talking a lot a smack for a team that was just handled pretty thoroughly. Come Wildcat talk some sense into your guys. LOL

Funny that they called us choke artist considering they were knocked out by the same team that beat us last year. Everyone has supporters like that though, and it's tough when the new kid on the block starts to succeed a bit. Don't hold it against them.

On the flip side, outside of what seems to be a natural hate for Montana by all Big Sky schools, it would be nice to have a good conference rivalry and those are only built by teams battling against each other with titles on the line. I sure hope UNC and Weber State can battle for bragging rights in the coming seasons.

Unfortunately, I do not have the gift of talking sense into other people, I have been trying forever on egriz with no luck at all.

I cannot change what others believe, and I dont agree with alot of what other WSU fans are saying about UNC, I believe UNC is solid, they are a great bunch of players. I think what alot of my Wildcat bretheran are skeptical about is UNC's ability to win on the road, right now you guys are 3-0 on the road, thats good, but unfortunaltely your 3 games are against teams that are a combined 6-16 in conf play. I think alot of the Weber fans want to see how UNC does against the better, stronger home teams before they want to jump on the UNC bandwagon. WSU,NAU,UM, MSU and ISU are tough places to play, and you guys still have to travel to each of those arenas, those are all possible losses, in the Big Sky beating teams by 20 at home does not mean that you will be able to do the same to that same team on thier home court. Im halfway on the bandwagon, I also want to see what UNC can do on the road vs the better teams in the sky.

No Big Sky team is ever the same on the road than they are at home, a good example would be this....

Weber is 229-45 at home vs current Big Sky schools, but on the road to current Big Sky schools, Weber is 140-139, big difference. only twice in big sky history has a team won all thier conf road games.

another example would be last year Weber beat ISU by 25 in the Dee, but had to go 3 overtimes to beat ISU on thier court on a buzzer beater layup.

with 5 of your last 9 on the road, and against the top teams in the sky, there are some tough times ahead of the Bears, lets see what they can do.

Another good example, MSU is 8-0 at home, but is 1-9 on the road, they lost at ISU tonight by 5.

They're 8-0 at home because they haven't played anybody at home. MSU isn't any good, we'll beat them at home, at a neutral site, on the road or on the moon. I say the same about Weber and ISU, those three teams simply don't have as much talent as UNC does.
