So far this season, all five of EWU's starting offensive linemen have been injured. They are pretty much running on a scout team o-line right now. If WSU brings a lot of pressure, Mitchell will make mistakes. On offense, if the Wildcats stick to their trend of running the ball, they will run it down the Eagles' throats. EWU is ranked dead last in rushing defense (however, first in pass defense). Run, run, run and open up the passing game. Been working well for Hoke so far...

After being out the last 3 games, the return of 'The Beast' is well needed and well timed

Eastman (elbow) will practice this week but will still be a game time decision Saturday (If he plays I would expect his time to be limited). Morales (groin), Jankowski (ankle), Tiatia (leg), and Epperson (knee) are probable and all are expected to play. Diamond (elbow) and Bowers (wrist) are out.

To be honest, I think you guys heavily overrate Eastman. He was a stud and and absolute powerhouse during his freshman season, but has been injured in some way, shape or form ever since. Even when he plays here and there inbetween injuries over the past two and a half seasons, he has made little impact while on the field. Yes, the additional depth and another big body on the line always bodes well for the Wildcats, but unfortunately, that's about all Eastman has had to offer as of late. Just another big body... If WSU has ever had a player that was overhyped by its fans and media, Eastman is definitely one of them, through no fault of his own. :tothehand:

eastman has had some unfortunate injuries.

2 yrs ago he got hurt at csu then came back 3 games later which happen to be our last game @ eastern. he had 5 sacks in the one game and 4 other tackles. I dont think they had a single yard gained on any of his stops. it was an amazing game played by wsu. when he is healthy he is as as good as any d tackle in the big sky.
Yes, he had a gutsy game, but lets not over exaggerate. He only had three sacks and six total tackles, with the only solo ones coming on his sacks. But that's the kicker, he's good WHEN HEALTHY. And he hasn't been healthy one bit since 2008.

you're right, Eastman as a true freshman in 2008 he was healthy, Honorable Mention Big Sky, 2009 Pre Season All Conference Selection, 2 MCL injuries still receives Honorable Mention Big Sky and playing only 7 games; 2010 transfers to Hawaii, makes the team, and transfers back to Weber and red shirts, 2011 in Spring Ball has a meniscus and ACL surgery, accelerates his recovery to play in the Wyoming game and then dislocates his elbow. Yes, he has had some injuries, and yes he leaves it on the field every time. It's a team sport, it's a violent sport but don't worry about his production, we still have a long season ahead.... and I still predict that the Defense is going to get better and better, along with the offense. No hype here, just the facts and nothing but the facts. I guess the coaches were over hyping him when they selected him for post season awards

Being around Weber State football for well over 20 years I have seen a lot of good players come and go. We have had some good d-lineman come through here. Just in the last 10 years we have some stand outs like Brady Fosmark, Shane Barkdull, Bryce Scanlon, and most recently Kevin Linehan. All these guys were all game changers. Both Brady Fosmark and Kevin Linehan every year they started led the teams in Sacks and TFLs. All of these guys were never overhyped, they put their work in day and day out and never made excuses.

Now Eastman is a good player, that has been plagued with injuries. One day he might be on that list, but as of right now he isnt. Players get injured thats just part of the game, and some of the best players just do not make it, thats just life. Look at Rio Stotler, he's probably one of the best d-lineman i've seen play in Weber State history but he just couldn't make it.

I understand were your coming from saying Eastman is overhyped but that is not his fault at all. He came in with the nickname the Beast and we ran with it. He might have not lived up to "the beast" yet but I have high hopes for him.

A winning attitude? They're 0-4.
1-4
Your guys played a good game but we were due. 0-4 was not a good reflection of the talent the Eagles have. This has helped me through the 4 losses, "when you loose you are not as bad as people say you are and when you win you are not as good as YOU THINK you are."
Now go beat those Montana teams, I do believe you are capable of doing it!
Good Luck the rest of the year.

This game scared me more than any other game before the season began. Injuries and some National Championship hangover have already taken E. Wash out of the equation. Last year's matchup showed that a Taiwan Jones-less E. Wash team was not much better than last year's squad. We're a better team this year with a QB that doesn't turn the ball over. I don't know how long until Hoke throws a INT but as long as he takes care of the ball on Saturday, I expect we win by two touchdowns. If we have 2+ turnovers this will be a barn burner. I'll split the difference and say 38-31 Wildcats. We rack up 400 yards of offense with 250 on the ground. I know Coach Mac and I know that he is licking his chops looking at the film of E. Wash's rush defense. This week's practice will be fine tuning the running game for Sat.
Not so fast Weber fan, it is our offensive line, guards and center in particular, that are beat up. Our D-line is still strong. Granted we lost a Buchanan award candidate at linebacker but this team is hungry and has an attitude. A winning attitude!!
I don't think the difference will be your offense but specifically our QB. If BLM plays to his capabilities and hits open receivers, of which there will be several, we move up and down the field regularly. With Taiwan Jones we had one back that was outstanding, now we have 2 backs that are VERY good in the open field.
It will be a good game which the Eagles get their first of 7 wins!!
Go Eagles
I appreciate the optimism you have for your team, as misguided as it may be. :blah:
Blah, Blah, Blah

Apparently the E. Wash fans are mad that I predicted 400 yards of offense against them this year. Where do I get off writing something like that?!! Hmm. :sarcasm:

Weber Offensive statistics against EWU 2010
1st Downs 24
Total Yards 459
Passing 315
Rushing 144

I'd say I was pretty generous considering that half their team is in the ER.
FYI, 377 is less than 400!!

I think we will win big. 50-0. It is going to be a fun year.

Not so much.

Good game, Weber fans, just glad we got the win. Hope your tackle is alright, we know all about offensive line injuries this year, unfortunately.

We didn't run the ball great, but just well enough to keep you honest. Not bad for a patch-work O-line with a TE playing center, though.

Thanks for being classy, but you should tell it how it is. Your 2nd/3rd/4th/5th stringers just beat our guys at pretty much full strength. We got exposed and we'll end up 4-4 in conference play.

I hope you end up with no more than 2 losses
