So far this season, all five of EWU's starting offensive linemen have been injured. They are pretty much running on a scout team o-line right now. If WSU brings a lot of pressure, Mitchell will make mistakes. On offense, if the Wildcats stick to their trend of running the ball, they will run it down the Eagles' throats. EWU is ranked dead last in rushing defense (however, first in pass defense). Run, run, run and open up the passing game. Been working well for Hoke so far...

After being out the last 3 games, the return of 'The Beast' is well needed and well timed

Eastman (elbow) will practice this week but will still be a game time decision Saturday (If he plays I would expect his time to be limited). Morales (groin), Jankowski (ankle), Tiatia (leg), and Epperson (knee) are probable and all are expected to play. Diamond (elbow) and Bowers (wrist) are out.

To be honest, I think you guys heavily overrate Eastman. He was a stud and and absolute powerhouse during his freshman season, but has been injured in some way, shape or form ever since. Even when he plays here and there inbetween injuries over the past two and a half seasons, he has made little impact while on the field. Yes, the additional depth and another big body on the line always bodes well for the Wildcats, but unfortunately, that's about all Eastman has had to offer as of late. Just another big body... If WSU has ever had a player that was overhyped by its fans and media, Eastman is definitely one of them, through no fault of his own. :tothehand:

eastman has had some unfortunate injuries.

2 yrs ago he got hurt at csu then came back 3 games later which happen to be our last game @ eastern. he had 5 sacks in the one game and 4 other tackles. I dont think they had a single yard gained on any of his stops. it was an amazing game played by wsu. when he is healthy he is as as good as any d tackle in the big sky.
Yes, he had a gutsy game, but lets not over exaggerate. He only had three sacks and six total tackles, with the only solo ones coming on his sacks. But that's the kicker, he's good WHEN HEALTHY. And he hasn't been healthy one bit since 2008.

Did you really just say a player ONLY had 3 sacks in one game? :roll: You are both wrong. The box shows 4 sacks. :nod:
"Only" wasn't meant to put down the three. It was "only" three compared to five. But no, YOU are wrong. Here is the Big Sky Conference's official box from the game. http://bigskyconf.com/custompages/football/2009/stats/ewu-wsu.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No Weber State player has had four sacks in a game since Brian Edmisten did it against Cal-State Northridge in 1998. Check your facts sir... :willybs:

ESPN is an unreliable sports source for stats and I should get official stats from WSU Athletics? You must be a newb. Everyone knows WSU stats are not reliable. The hole you are digging youngster is getting deeper.

I did.

http://espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=292830331&period=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Where do you think I pulled the 4 sacks stat? Dumb a$$.
ESPN statistics are not official stats. ESPN has never been reliable when it comes to any Big Sky teams in the statistics department. The university keeps the official stats and reports them to the Big Sky Conference. All school and national records go through the conference. They even FUBAR NFL stats on ESPN.
Refer to Weber State's football media guide if you have any further questions regarding single-game sack records. Here is the link. Educate yourself. http://www.weberstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=39328&SPID=3468&temp_site=NO&DB_OEM_ID=8600&ATCLID=205250895" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ESPN is unreliable for sports stats and I should use WSU Athletics as an official stat? You must be a newb around here. The hole you are digging is getting deeper, youngster.
Haha. Go read the freakin recap on that very ESPN link you shared. It even says in their story Eastman had three sacks. I analyze and compile sports stats for a living. And no, ESPNs stats are not official. Even they would tell you that. All stats go through individual leagues. You want accurate stats, go to MLB.com., NFL.com, etc.... :bad:

Well, ESPN stats are more convenient. I'll take my chances using their stats. It is odd you do stats for a living and went to WSU and you think WSU is a scholarly source. Maybe with Brad not running the show you are correct. :lol:

You are right. ESPN is incredibly convenient and I use it every day. But when it comes to small-conference college football, it simply isn't reliable on a regular basis. The Big Sky Conference cares much more about Big Sky Conference than ESPN does. When's the last time you saw an ESPN rep covering a Weber State football game?
And I didn't go to WSU for the stats, I did the stats for WSU. Poured over hundreds and hundreds of game boxes dating back about 50 years to give them accurate statistics and historical references (fixing a lot of crap Brad screwed up in the process). Took a long time and a lot of man hours. :wall:

:off: Back to the Eastern game statisticians. ;-)

:dead:

so per hawks' advice we are not allowed to talk about any given player more than the next. i will monitor how often fans talk about hoke on here. if it becomes excessive or he is talked about more than say our 2nd string punter than we can request the mods to delete the posts to silence the hype.

Back to the topic at hand...

Eastern is suffering quite a bit from the injury bug. Bummer deal for the Eagles!! To bad to hear about their All-Conference LB going down. For him and them, I hope he is able to get his year back, if he wants it.

Anyway, I'm thinking Weber will be able to run the ball on Eastern the entire game and with their OL decimated by injury Bo will be running all day. Those two things together aren't good signs for the Eagles. Unfortunately Eastern, mostly due to injury, doesn't match up well with the Cats.

Weber 45
Eastern 24

That has a catchy ring to it. Perhaps if I ever start a band it will be dubbed "Hawk & Goose"
