When are you folks going to admit that Gage Gubrud fxckin sucks ass. Damn he is choking his nuts off. He was 0-fer? In those last two/three drives. He needs to go! If Best doesn’t do SOMETHING, he’s gonna screw up the program.

Best didn’t EARN that HC spot, and if you think otherwise you don’t know Aaron Best. He’s not D1 HC material. Neither is Jody Sears.

I'm going to wait another year or two before I make that assessment. We literally replaced the entire offensive staff this past spring/summer.

I hear ya. But you can’t tell me GG didn’t CHOKE this game away AT HOME & ON HOMECOMING.

The field goals they held us on were huge, but so was the TD that got called back at the end of the first half. If that one counts we're going into the half with a 7 point lead.

He did. It's time to make a change at QB, even if it means dropping a game to close out the season. I think we need to get one of our other QBs some reps.

That makes no sense whatsoever. You just want to throw out the baby with the bathwater? We still have a shot at making the playoffs, albeit not a great shot.

We have been over this a million times. The other guys are not ready. GG will be the starter the remainder of the season, and most likely next season as well.

Gage was not throwing the ball very well today but it isn't like he doesn't have the potential to be great. His decision making has been the problem, but that wasn't the case today. He got picked off once today on the last play of the game. Weber St. has a really great defense. Maybe the best defense in the conference. And had we scored a touchdown on just one of those trips in in the red zone instead of a FG, we wouldn't even be talking about benching Gubrud.

You guys blaming Gubrud are absolutely brain dead. He's the best player on our team. We don't have a single receiver that can run a deep route or make a catch in traffic. Yet he still posts good numbers. The entire offense flows through him, whether it ought to or not is a different question. We could run the bal, against Weber and chose not to. The worst play of the game was third and goal from the one foot line and we hand the ball to McPherson 8 yards deep and he gets stopped at the five. We just get under center and make a simple dive play and we take the lead and the whole dynamics of the game change.

The second dumbest play of the game was the TD catch by Gubrud when the OG was 10 yards down the field. Did you not know the play call was a pass?

Agreed.
It’s nothing against GG, but the man couldn’t complete a pass to save his life! Sold out crowd at home on homecoming and you can complete a fxxking pass!? He took a sack on 4th and 18 like Matt Ryan did when he CHOKED in the Super Bowl.

Kupp(nfl), Bourne(nfl), & Shaq(nfl) made him look good and made him play better last year. But this year Baldwin is gone, & Baldwin was the QB whisperer. It’s time to make a change.

It’s GAGE GUBRUD’s job to make sure that happens. And it didn’t happen. The kid looked lost today.

Add in how ever many shitty passes Weber dropped that should of been intercepted. I counted 3. Facts are facts; Gubrud sucked today. And the secondary couldn't defend a high school team.

I'm not on the bench Gubrud train, but it isn't because I think he's the guy. I just don't think either of our other two Qbs could be much better. Our best option at Qb from last year is playing at CWU right now. We wouldn't be sitting at 5-4 with RH at the helm. The shitty part of it is that he didn't even get a chance here.

You might be right. I remember watching the Oregon game and thinking he was the future at QB but we decided to start Jordan West the rest of the season and then the next year people thinking that the reason we had the season we did was because GG was a world-beater. Borne, Kupp, Hill were the reason. Not GG.

The last two weeks have shown the true impact of the loss of senior playmakers and leadership from last year. This team has taken its share of thumps this year, but it should pay off next season as the young guns get some much needed playing time under their belt. This offseason may be a good time to pursue some FBS transfers to help shore up the DL and secondary. We do that, and I think a deep playoff run is in the cards for next year.

Partly. But we ran the ball three straight times on that drive and couldn't punch it in. GG wasn't running the ball. The plays were slow developing when all we needed was a quick hitter over center to grab one yard. In my mind that is more of a play calling issue than a Qb issue.

The reality is this isn't a very good team, yet we're 5-4 and still have a shot at the playoffs. Credit the coaches for getting us into a position to at least have a modicum of success this year. And credit Gubrud as well, because there really isn't anyone else on the offense that has had more than a single good game here or there. This looks a lot like the 2015 team except with much less talent at receiver.

The thing that annoys me is that we have no commitment to running the ball. In many games, we couldn't run it so it was sort of water under the bridge. But we ran it pretty well today and just chose not to do it, even in a lot of short yardage situations. And when we did it in short yardage, we did it out of shotgun with a back 8 yards deep instead of just getting up and hitting the hole. We seriously need a rethink of our short yardage strategy.

Also credit where it's due, I thought Calhoun and Kupp had good games today. Our DL and secondary, not so much.

The play calling at times this year has been....puzzling at best. Why not run play action and get it to a tight end? Three runs up the gut when we haven't been able to do that with our Oline all year was mind boggling.

My thoughts exactly on running the ball... Can we at least show a power look with double tight and the QB under center? When you need a foot, there's no need to try for a home run. Just get the damn thing moving forward. A slow developing run is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Especially around the goal line. Whatever happened to putting in a lead blocker in those situations.

Exactly. People underestimate the impact of losing those three wideouts. We have a lot of young talent at receiver but they're not at the same level yet.
