Week 10: Hornets vs. Montana

The Bye Week is over and its now time to turn our attention to the Griz. This is probably the biggest game in our D-I history IMO. We have to come out firing on all cylinders and the I hope the coaches watched their game against EWU because they made a valiant attempt at a comeback.

Hope we see a crowd of nearly 11,000 Saturday afternoon!

I think if we can manage to win this, we have a pretty good shot at beating CP, PSU and UCD.

UM will be fired up, but hopefully the coaches are ready for what's ahead. Since the NAU game, UM has looked very beatable. The rest of our opponents are having disappointing years and if we don't Sac State ourselves, maybe we have a shot???

And, its not even a night game, which is when you do these ridiculous black-out games.
 
Wow! I'm all for this! How the heck did we get the moolah for this? Perhaps they'll auction off the jerseys for breast cancer awareness month or something?

The pants better be black too. Believe it or not, alternate uniforms really do pump up the players. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the first time we've ever done something like this!

Ditto on the pants, what about the helmets? First time in 25yrs. the Hornets have done something like this, at least that is how long I have followed the program.

I also like the all white.
 
UM is beatable. They have taken a few beatings this season (NAU & EWU) as well as one the last time they made the trip to Hornet Stadium. Last week was a close loss to EWU but EWU put a hurting on them early and then curled up into a ball in the 4th and just barely held on.

UM has plenty of weapons on offense. I don’t expect the Hornet D to contain UM at all. Johnson has great scrambling ability so he will make the Hornets pay if the blitzes don’t hit home. Their top RB Van was dinged up heading into the EWU game so he probably won’t be full strength this week either. The Hornet DL will need to have one hell of a game if they want to slow UM down.

The UM defensive secondary looks to be their weak point. Adams absolutely destroyed them last week and I think if the Hornets want to win this one it will be Safron’s arm (and legs) that deliver this one. If Graham is indeed back, I don’t expect him to be anywhere near 100% so my guess is Kellermann and Robinson see the bulk of the action in the backfield.

Special teams look to be about a push but I think they have a slight edge as their kicker is considerably better than the Hornets. Their ST’s came up huge against CP 2 weeks ago (blocked what would have been a game sealing CP FG) and the UM FG unit missed a crucial FG late in the game last week.

Anything can happen but for whatever reason I’m not too optimistic about this game…I think it has something to do with GCM’s Jedi mind tricks or something…

Our colors and green and gold. Lets get back to the gold pants and green tops and gold helmets of old, and look like Hornets again.

I like the new Uni's and frankly if it gets rid of some of the bad mojo I am down with it.

Unlike Kadeezy I am not ready to call this game yet, I will say that N. AZ beat them 34-16 so that might get into their head, and they did not lay the wood to UND. I would say we have a shot at winning as long as we do not beat ourselves by killing our own momentum. Let em keep playing aggressive for 60, i'd rather get beat than quit and lose.
 
The new uniforms are much overdue and the all black concept is great. Love the green accents!! This will be a monumental game!! Let's defeat the so called giants once again!!
 
From the release: "Graham, Robinson and sophomore Demetrius Warren are all close to returning to action."

I wonder if this means we're looking at a medical RS for Coleman? He's only played in three games and I believe that's few enough considering out 12 game schedule...

According to the NCAA a hardship waiver may be granted an athlete who appears in fewer than 30% of his or her team's competitions (with none coming after the midway point of the season), then suffers a season-ending injury. A player who is granted such a waiver is treated for the purposes of his or her eligibility as though he or she had not competed in that season.


Another interesting note, Sperbeck has never won a game following a Bye week.

Also, we've elected to not post the game notes as of yet. I wonder if this is an indication that we're trying to wait longer than normal to post our two-deep because players will be returning...?

This was my thought. :whistle:
 
Assume those not attending the game can see it on bigskytv.org but we will be watching the Max Media broadcast. This is how it was done for the Davis/Montana game from Davis. it will be a great picture and many views that we do not see on a normal BSC tv from Hornet Stadium. We will be watching and listening to the Montana broadcasters one would assume. Can Still listen to Jason and Steve but there will be a delay between the raido and tv.
