Week 3: Sac State vs. Southern Oregon

Goodnight everyone, gonna spend the rest of mine doing something else.

Very pathetic, very disappointing

It's like a train wreck, can't look away.

So, we have no defense, and a shaky (at best) offense. Yeah, this is going to be a fun year. At least we've finally scored. It took a NAIA squad who might very well beat us, but we finally made the end zone.

OT win over NAIA school. Defense was horrid, no pressure, no coverage on receivers, very little wrap up tackling. I think we need a new D coordinator......this is going to be a long season.......

A win is a win, but we all know every Hornets fan is going to have a hard time stomaching this near miss. As disgusted as I am about this game, we can't take away from Southern Oregon or their players. They came to play and probably deserved to win but came up just short. All Hornets fans know what the Southern Oregon fans feel like right now. We've been there. Conversely, while we avoided the upset, we also know what Oregon State and Colorado fan felt like when they faced the Hornets in a game they weren't supposed to lose. What goes around, comes around and we got very lucky to still get a 'W' tonight.

BTW, how does a kid like Austin Dodge not end up at a bigger school? It's not like the kid is undersized. How the heck did he end up at an NAIA school?

Never felt so sick after a W.

Imagine how sick you would have felt if it was a loss. This is at least a little easier to stomach when you win. But, still, it shines the spotlight on some big problems for the Hornets.

It makes me wonder how SJSU and ASU didn't beat the Hornets worse than they did. If SOU can hang 56 on them, ASU should have scored triple digits even with their backups in the game. The Hornet defense is simply beyond terrible.

I'd feel a bit better about this, considering all the records SOU has been setting or breaking the past 2 years, but they were 0-2 coming into this game. If they were 2-0 and destroying the lower division teams they had been facing, I'd chalk it up to facing a super lower division team. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

What makes me even more sick is we actually have good quality players that given our talent, we should have held these guys to under 20 pts. I clearly see a problem with us defending against a quick release QB. From the games I have watched like PSU/Cal, WSU/Utah, etc. are conference has gone to more of a quick release passing quick slants, etc. What is reprehensible is our coaching staff did NOTHING to adjust all game long. Do not even get me started on special teams, we almost missed that PAT at the end of regulation. The thing that disturbs me is these guys think they are way better than they are.

Offense rating: :o

:shit: feeling this is what our season will be like.
