What The Hell?

The biggest problem for KJZZ to televise games is that most conferences dictate who can and who cannot televise games. Also, for non-conference games, it is governed by the school where the game is being played. So, KJZZ can't televise the BYU-Provo game. BYU-Provo has television contracts in place that exempt KJZZ from televising their home games.

Yes I agree, but they could cover conference games that are away games. WSU is the kid brother that Utah media ignores and hopes will go away. I am just hoping this year in basketball we can kick all the instate schools around, but the coverage will be what is wrong with the other schools not congrats to WSU.

The marketing department is not responsible for getting the students in the seats that is the job of student government/activities. I'm under the impression that the current administration led by the fluffy, soft, double wide trailer Mrs. Collingwood, as being the worst group of officers ever to run the student body; Jake tries but not enough. Thankfully, there are other auxillary organizations that are trying to get the students in the seats, but don't have the funds to drive the promotion like it should be. Hats off to the Purple Pak for trying, we should be doing our upmost to assist them!! As for the marketing dept. They are just PATHETIC the new dude named Kim is crap... there was a reason why the JAZZ fired him, and unfortunately we are finding out why first hand. Whatever the problems may be lets all be sure to be at the game on Saturday and bring as many Weber fans as we can with us. Help FILL THE DEE!!! GO CATS!!

I think that we have some of the most beautiful tennis players here at Weber State. I heard that most of them have had a crush on #81 Tim Toone at some time or another. Go Weber State athletics... Tim may have mono soon!! Oh dear thanks tennis players.

I guess it's up to us to get the fans to the games. The marketing dept. isn't going to change, which means the Dee will stay empty. What can we each do to get more fans in the seats? I think each of us need to come up with some type of an idea to bring more people to the games.

You all would be suprised about the politics that go on in the athletic department. Some people want to get rid of Kim and some people are coming to his defense. In eaither case, if we all would bring 1 or 2 people to join us at each game, we would double the attendance. If you have a large group that would like to go, there are group rates available. Also, businesses that want to bring people have that same option. The tics can be as low as $2.

i heard utah state had the schedule on a billboard in logan, that would b a good idea on harrison.

A billboard from one of the outdoor advertising agencies in the area that have signs on Harrison cost at least $1500/month. The company would not work with the athletic dept on the cost of the sign.

Why doesn't Weber just create their own billboard on Campus property?? The university could make their own for that price and make another one in Layton at the Davis campus. The problem is that the university doesn't take the time to look outside the box. No innovation.

They could update the sign they have infront of the Dee Event Center, put in a new color LCD screen, highlights of past games, upcoming schedules.

Why don't we all flood Kim's inbox with ideas, then maybe he will get off his fat ---- and do something to earn his paychek. His email is [email protected]. With people on his backside, maybe the BBall schedule posters will get done BEFORE the first game next year.

hmmm...

I didn't put 2 & 2 together to = Kim. Last year and this year they took half way through the season to get the posters, makes sense now. Chag G had ready in July!! lol

I don't think it would really matter. You could give Kim a million ideas, but he wouldn't act on any of them; that would take initiative to do something silly like actually working. The poster thing just shows his ineptitude towards his job. The Dee Event Center anniversary was another example of how incompetent he is. Nobody knew that there was anything really special occuring that night. Also, you'd think that the activities commemorating the Dee would last the entire season. It's an excellent excuse to have promotions and to hand out cheaper tickets. During the Dee's lifetime a team like this season's team would average at least 5K - 6K per game.

The reason to flood his inbox is not just to give him ideas, it is to let him know that people think he is doing a lousy job at what he is supposed to be doing. If gets a lot of "not so positive" feedback, then maybe he will change, or he will get scared that people are talking to those higher up on the food chain. If we sit back and do nothing, then nothing will change.

The worst part is this is one of the most important jobs of all in the athletic department.

I'm going to get at least 10 emails to him from variuos people, including myself, by tomorrow. Hell, I was looking for the ad in the Standard and I couldn't find it. We should have full-page color ad's. Yes, it might be a bit more, but since nothing else is being done. I'm sure the dept. has plenty of money in their budget.

Well someone was saying a billboard on Harrison was $1,500 a month, how much has the athletic department been paying for the WSU basketball billboard on I-15 that has been up near 31st street for the past 2 months? It's pretty sweet if you haven't seen it. Between 24th & 31st southbound.

I think a few bucks for a newspaper ad is reasonable. We would have zero newspaper coverage in the Standard period if we didn't have Jasen say, then again that doesn't cost the Marketing dept as far as I know.
