WSU at Montana: Game Thread

Hey everettgriz, you made your point, why are you posting all this on the Weber site? OK, Montana beat Weber on Friday, there, it's done. Move along.......

I'm simply replying to posts, hey. I'll happily move along, but if someone posts something moronic which cannot be supported by anything approaching reality, I'll likely comment on it. I assume that's the way boards work....

There's certainly a whole lot for you to comment about over on egriz. I couldn't resist.

I love talking basketball with Big Sky fans but page long pissing contest/arguments get old. WSU and NAU got their butts whooped last week up north but there's a LONG way to go this season. NAU and WSU will lose more games but I don't see the U of M going undefeated. With the excess distance in road trips and improving talent in conference, there's no such thing as a cakewalk.

I don't see the U of M going undefeated

Me either. That's nearly impossible in the BSC. As you mention, MtJack, the travel is killer in this conference, and then you throw in the altitude issues at NAU, some tiny gyms that are difficult to play in, etc and sweeping the conference is an extremely difficult thing to do.

This board is so much fun to visit after a UM victory. Apparently, the more the Griz beat up on the Wildcats, the hickier we get. I can hardly wait for the football game next fall. If the Griz return to the long established, traditional buttwhipping of WSU, we Montana hicks will be even more toothless, sheep-defiling, sister-marrying, uncivilized rubes who only win because all refs hate WSU. And Ogden, Utah, of course, is the epicenter of suave, urbane sophistication.  I especially loved the post after last year's conference tournament game that "UM didn't beat the Wildcats, Andrew Johnson did." Now who did he play for again??
And it really pains me that UM hasn't won a conference championship in 11 years. I guess those trips to the NCAA tournament were poor consolation.

But hey, you did win two of the last four football games. Fair and square, too, no excuses. And your board was much more gracious in victory than when you lose, and probably will be again if you get revenge in the BB game in Ogden. Meanwhile, get over it. We understand your best player was injured, but it's only mid-major BB, not anything important.

Who's Andrew Johnson?

lol

Well Skeeter, he must be talking about the famous president, or the basketball player from the 1950s...

Andrew Johnson (December 29, 1808 – July 31, 1875) was the 17th President of the United States (1865–1869). Following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, Johnson presided over the Reconstruction era of the United States in the four years after the American Civil War. His tenure was controversial as his positions favoring the white South came under heavy political attack from Republicans.

Andrew Johnson (November 8, 1932–August 30, 2002) was an American professional basketball player.

A 6'5" guard/forward, Johnson played at the University of Portland in the 1950s before serving with the US military in the Korean War. He began his professional basketball career with the Harlem Globetrotters, then played in the NBA from 1958 to 1962 as a member of the Philadelphia Warriors and Chicago Packers. He averaged 9.8 points over his NBA career, posting a high of 14.3 points per game with the Packers in the 1961-62 season.

Neither were alive last March, so I'm not quite sure how either of them could have beat us. We have one die-hard Griz fan on our hands...

While I don't pretend to speak for Grizhick, you will note that he indicated the "Andrew Johnson" reference was a direct quote from a Weber fan posting on this board. I don't know (nor frankly do I really care), whether the weber poster or Grizhick made the error and I'm not about to spend the time to go back and look, but perhaps it's worth considering that you were too quick to denigrate the poster when the error apparently came from one of your own.

And big, did you really need to Google Andrew Johnson, the President??

Haha I just hopped on Wikipedia and posted the first paragraph for both. I'm still a little sore from the loss is all. I think once Weber gets healthy and cohesive with this new lineup, we'll be fine. Good luck to the Griz the rest of the way, you guys are looking very solid and very scary.

Thanks Big. If there's one team year in and year out we're afraid of, it's Weber and this year is no different. The loss of Lillard was unfortunate obviously, but there's still a ton of talent there. Good luck to you guys as well!
