'08-'09 RECRUITING CLASS

Jemaine, Danny Johnson, and Drew Arnold are not going to be coming back next year. Also, T.J. Bensen and J.P. most likely wont be coming back. Weber will be trying to sign four for next season. Right now that leaves Weber at each position with:
1. McCoy, Dent, and Cottle
2. Lillard, (Hansen), JC (Hopefully Hall)
3. Davis, Bullinger, Hansen, and J.C. Hall
4. Panos, Mahoney, JC/Fresh or both
5. Morris, JC
Most likely Rahe will be able to get a couple of walk-ons to fill the roster. I believe that the additional commitment is either Marcus Carson or Julian Jones; however, don't quote me on that one, I've been wrong before.

I don't know why Nance isn't coming back... Maybe it deals with the fact that Lillard is coming in and also the coaches are trying to sign a couple of 2/3's. He doesn't want to sit the bench his senior season.

- Late additions to the transfer list is Chattanooga's 6-foot-10 forward Matt Gwynne...this kid has game for a Bigman!

Did you notice that Duprea Spraggins from Utah State is also leaving?? Right now its the dead period. This period ends at noon today, I think, that is when those players who have verbaled actually sign with their school. Two players are going to sign with Weber today: Nick Hansen and another (I'm not sure who it is, but we will all find out soon).

Marcus Carson signed along with Nick Hansen yesterday. Carson is 6'5" and can play the 2, 3, and 4 positions (the 4 is kind-of-a stretch). I'm not sure about this one, but the Wizard of Ogden knows what he is doing. Weber has used four scholarships with the signees (Lillard, Dent, Hansen, and Carson), that leaves Weber with (according to my count) at least three more scholarships. Is there a chance that Coach is going to sign three more players? Hall is coming in tonight or tomorrow morning for his official visit. I'm glad its going to be a nice weekend.
I have a concern... Hansen is a 2/3 at 6'4", Carson is also at 6'5", and when Weber signs Hall (Thats Faith for Ya) he will also be a 2/3 at 6'5"... Weber is losing four big men: Art, Billings, Danny Johnson, and Drew Arnold. Personally, I think Danny will be a huge loss for the Cats. Anyway, Weber needs a big man! Weber currently has Morris, Panos, Mahoney, and Bullinger (he is actually a 3, but can play the 4 if needed) We need a Post!! There are a couple of Fresh being looked at and one JC Post has visited... Maybe one of them are coming.

I was thinking the same thing. I am sure Carson is a good player, but was hoping for Hall and or Jones. Talhad4steal, you said that there are 3 spots open. I count 2 left assuming JP is not coming back. Assuming that these are the schollie players on the roster.
McCoy SR
Davis SR
Panos JR
Carson JR
Hansen JR
Morris SO
Cottle SO
Lillard FR.
Bullinger FR
Mahoney FR
Dent FR
That is 11 with the total of 13 scholarships available. I am hoping for 1 mor JC and a HS player.

Hall is for sure being offered everything Weber can give.. So that only leaves one scholarship for a big man. I'm thinking that Weber needs to get a big man who can be around for a few years. Jones would be a great fit for Weber. He is only a soph and has shown that he is capable of really elevating his game. Just imagine what the Wizard can do for him. If he doesn't come, I'm sure there are a number of Freshmen. However, the difference between jones and a freshmen is that Jones can automatically contribute.
Next years Preseason schedule is going to be an absolute beast. Nobody will come to Ogden to play Weber... They are all afraid, especially SUU and UVTECH. I'm thinking that Weber will have 12 or 13 home games at the most next season. Oh well... What doesn't kill us makes us stronger!

That would be a great way to finish off the class with both of those guys. Next year Weber will have 2 spots open with only McCoy and Davis as the only Seniors. They will probably be looking at big guys, but that is a long ways away and who knows what will happen by then. Is it the Purple and White game yet? Dang!!!!

Over the weekend Jonathan Hall visited campus. I was talking with a member of the team about the visit yesterday, and he said that Hall is really good. He said that Hall could play either the 2,3,or 4 positions and excel at each. He told me that one of the key reasons why Hall is going to come to Weber is because his JC coach is, supposedly, the new assistant coach. Hall would be a HUGE addition to the Wildcats.

That is awsome! Any rumors on where the last scholarship will go? I am really hoping for Jones, but I bet thats a long shot.

i herd a rumor that the last scholarship will go to jamaine nance if he doesn't sign with u of oregon.

JERMANE NANCE with the U of Oregon, no disrespect to Jermane but you have got to be joking   Yeah and next I'll believe that Kevin Love is leaving UCLA not for the NBA, but to come here.

Yes, I also agree with AJ. Catcat, where did you hear about Nance going to Oregon?

So what is the latest?

Gone:
Nance, Arnold, Johnson, Silveira

Signed:
Hansen, Carson, Lillard, Dent

How many spots left?

What about Jones and Hall?

Nothing really has happened since last week when Carson and Hansen signed.... Hall was in Ogden over the weekend. Jones was also here a couple of weeks ago, but I'm getting the feeling that he may be going back to his JC for another year to see if he can get bigger schools to look at him. Whatever Weber has to give, they already offered it to Hall.
I really think that there are two spots left. One is being dished out to Hall and the other is going to some type of a big man... Thats all I've got.

With regards to Hall I think Weber has at least a 60% chance to sign him. Weber definitely has an edge, since one of his coaches is going to be the new assistant coach... the only other schools, he is looking at, are St. Bonaventura and Indiana St... Not to discount the achievements of one of the greatest basketball players of all time...THE BIRD... I really don't think Indiana State has that great of a program... And all I've got to say about St. Bon is that Indiana State has been better than them soooo... Weber, by far, is the only team out of the three that has the best shot at winning a conference crown and going to the Big Dance both years he has left to... Also, we've had as many NBA players graduate than either of the other schools... Can I say Lance Allred and Eddie Gill!! The only problem I see is that Weber has already signed two players who play at the same position (Carson and Hansen; not to mention Dent who plays the 1 or 2) with two others on the team (Davis and Bullinger). However, the really nice thing about Hall is that he can play the 2-4 positions... At least that is what I was told. Members of the team were fairly confident that Hall would be coming to Weber. With regards to the other scholarship.... No idea... I'm thinking a Frosh will be brought in.
