'08-'09 RECRUITING CLASS

Personally I think Nick Thompson is a freakin joke. He's 6'10 and cant score more than 22 against crappy Layton? I went to Layton and they were awful, I doubt they have a guy who is even 6'6 this year. Layton's won 4 games, my feeling is he should be scoring 40 on crappy teams like Layton if he's really good enough to be decent in college ball. He'll be playing a lot better competition and taller people.

Unless he's more of a defense player that is...

I'm not sure, but as for his offense I agree. He needs to be more consistent. I'm pretty sure that Nick will be Red-Shirting next season.

Oh, by the way...I was in the PSU Fans Chatroom during the game, and I was talking to this guy who turned out to be an assistant coach at a high school in California. I guess PSU is getting this 6'11" center with Pac-10 skills next year. He got injured his senior year and that's supposedly why he's not going Pac-10.

I asked him about Lillard, and he said he's seen him play, and he's a total floor general, and he should be Pac-10 as well.

And then somehow he said that Nick Thompson could be Pac-10 too...so I'm not quite sure if he's seen all these kids play or what, but Lillard plays his ball an hour south of where this coach was, so just more hype on Lillard for me. ;D

Rahe definitely knows what he is doing!! We definitely got a steal in our recruits for next year, and I'm virtually sure that coach is going to pick up some more talent at the end of the season. All three of the recruits could be playing at big schools instead of Weber next season. Terrence Dent could have gone to Ivy League schools, not only can he play ball but he has an excellent GPA.
Also, I was on the ISU forum and they couldn't stop talking about how lucky the DI schools in this area are, since the caliber of JC programs coming out of the Scenic West Conference are. College of Southern Idaho, Salt Lake Community College, Snow, Eastern Utah, and Western Wyoming are all excellent programs that have great recruitment possibilities for the DI ranks, and we are right here in the middle of all those schools. I know Rahe is going to be able to get two or three excellent recruits coming out of the JC ranks.

On a side note, I might have been wrong when I said earlier on this thread that I didn't think that Nick Hanson would be a good pick up.

ISU received two verbals today. I think they are both from the College of Eastern Utah. A PG who started his career at Colorado and a 6'8" Brazilian.

Everyone needs to google Terrence Dent, this kid sounds like a great player is the Denver area. He has a lot of great stuff written about him, and sounds like he is a player. at 6'1 and 215 he sounds more like a 2 gaurd. A little on the small side as far as hight, but a big boy in the LBS. I thing that this kid my be a great pickup. I am really looking forward to seeing him in the Purple and White game.

Eric Tramiel... He is exactly what Weber needs. Did you notice that Marcus Carson was also playing for the Paris Dragons. I'm sure the coaching staff is trying to get a big post player. They are recruiting four or five power forwards right now.

Does Utah State have anything that shows who they are currently recruiting? Just to see how sought after Jared Quayle is by the Aggies...

That's OK Quayle is overrated anyway. I played against him in high school. He scored 6 points against us right after he was honored for being a McDonalds All-American. We'll just have Lilliard or Dent stop him like Davis shut down Carroll.

How do you know that he signed with Utah State? Was there something in the paper about it? Oh well we have to 3's who are both better than him: Davis and Bullinger. Well Weber still has three scholarships to use. I hope we get Neal Pitt, the rebounding machine in Maryland.

Oh well... If he does go to USU, he'll just be in the shadow of JC and will never be able to create his own identity. I really hope that Weber gets Neal Pitt... He is averaging 22 pts and 11.2 rebounds a game...

Standard Examiner is reporting today that Nick Thompson has been released from his national letter of intent by Randy Rahe.

Anyone know anything about this guy?

We need a big man to replace Nick Thompson, who will it be? Ben Aird would have been a good recruit, how did UVSC get him when the Utes let him out of his letter of intent? Who will be our center, PF combo next year with Steve Panos? Trevor Morris came along nicely but is a good back-up to Panos since they are the same body type.

I talked to coach Linder today and asked him about what they were going to do to replace Nick. I do not remember any names of the players that he talked about, actually I do not think that he said any names, but I do know the geographic regions in which the staff is activly looking. 1. a kid out of Southern Idaho 2. A kid from the Midland Texas leauge, 3. Someone form the East Texas, and 4. A center from West Texas. Of those four he talked the highest about the fid from Souther Idaho. Apperently a good shoter, and a good rebounder. keep your fingers crossed, and maybe we will hear somthing soon. Also Spoke very highly of Damon, and said "that kid is the real deal"
