#16 Portland State vs #1 Kansas Thread

Congrats on the great season and good luck next season. I'll be keeping a close on on you guys considering former UH PG, Dominic Waters should be playing a lot next season.

Waters and Dominguez for a backcourt tandem should make us even tougher next year. Any comments about Waters stay in Hawaii would be aprreciated. Go Viks!

Saw Waters at Hawaii last season in Boise. I felt he was better than the starters, actually. Streak shooter, quick enough, not completely sure about ballhandling (he's not JD in that regard).

What gets me... I'd be curious to know why he transferred. Last year was Riley Wallace's last year as coach at Hawaii, and that was known for most of that season. Did Waters not think he was going to get a fair shake from the next coach? Why not ride things out? Or was there an opportunity when JD transferred? I could be guilty of trying to read between lines to pick up character clues.

Perhaps our resident Hawaii fan can clear the air.

I think his decision to leave UH was based on the coaching change and an opportunity to play closer to home.

That is what I recall reading. I really don't think there's a character issue here.

Will Waters start over Murray? Murray was pretty tough this year.

I think they both start. 3 guard lineup. As I said before, we should watch for who PSU plays at the 5 against teams with real big men, but I think it's probably JD, DW, AM, PN, and KC or AT.

Tief MIGHT work at the 5, as a backup. He is more of a SF in a big man's body. He's got a great outside touch, and can drive and handle the ball fairly well for a big man.

No way Jones plays the 5, at 6'7". More probable to play the 4. Good competition at the 4 with Jones, Mara, Thomas, and Coston filling that role.

We have a freshman in Conrad who is 6'11", which would be the 5. I REALLY think we need to get a JC transfer who is 6'9" or bigger to play the 5. I think Thomas is a great athlete, and I love watching him play, but he can't go up against guys who are 6" taller than him all the time. Thomas is a SF who plays physical enough to go against 4s and 5s, but just doesn't have the size.

A 6'7", 215 lb guy is going to our "big"? If so, we are going to get pushed around like there's no tomorrow next year. Looking at Jones, he is definitely not a "big". A PF maybe (if we've got a ton of guys at the SF), but definitely not someone to clog up the middle.

Good luck KU! Should be a good game, Stephen Curry is averaging 26 points in the 2nd half of every game is tourney. Should be exciting!
