2009 Schedule

It's always fun to see WSU play against FBS teams in a bigger venue. Unfortunately I'm not so sure that it's what we want or need. If last season is a forecast of playoff seedings to come then I'm not so sure we want too many FBS games. It's very apparent that a good FBS loss (Hawaii and Utah in '08)has no apparent weight when the FCS committee chooses seedings and who hosts a playoff game. I'm not saying that I'm counting out the Wildcats already but I know how tough it is to play and win against a FBS team. I think 1 FBS game a year is needed for a number of different things i.e. experience, money, etc...but more than that is a question mark in my mind. I think it would be smarter to schedule a good FCS team during one of those weeks instead of choosing between an FBS team or clean up game against a D-2 team. Even a mediocre FCS team makes more sense to me.

I disagree that playing FBS teams hurts our seeding chances. The Utah game in particular helped us and you could see it in the computer ratings as Utah continued to win throughout the season. Weber was a lock for a top four seed until we lost to Eastern Washington.

That said, I totally agree that we should schedule at least one non-conference FCS game. I would like us to forget about NAIA and DII games and schedule FCS instead.

UM schedule announced - no FBS's as usual. So they have a good chance to go 10-1 after losing to us!!!!

UM has an open date Oct. 3.

Sept. 5 Western State 1:05 p.m.
Sept. 12 at UC Davis
Sept. 19 Portland State 1:05 p.m.
Sept. 26 at Northern Arizona
Oct. 3 OPEN
Oct. 10 Cal Poly (Homecoming) 1:05 p.m.
Oct. 17 Eastern Washington 1:05 p.m.
Oct. 24 at Sacramento State
Oct. 31 Weber State 12:05 p.m.
Nov. 7 at Idaho State
Nov. 14 Northern Colorado 12:05 p.m.
Nov. 21 at Montana State 12:05 p.m.

UM is the Utah State Basketball of FCS Football!!

I know that when playoff seedings were announced last year our 3 loss record didn't help. I think things would've turned out a bit differently if one of those FBS losses were an FCS win. That would've put us at 10-2 and it would've been a lot harder for the committee to overlook our record at that point. Just my personal opinion. Sure the loss at Ewash was a killer but going undefeated in the big sky is a hard thing to do. I definitely think the cats have proven they have the talent and ability to do it but it's gonna be an every week thing. The purple and white have a big red bulls-eye on their back this year and every team will look at the WSU game as their way to prove themselves. That's something that WSU football hasn't had in a while. And in order for us to maintain this success we've lacked we need to play at a high caliber every weekend because we're going to see everyone's best game.

And I'm still kind of wondering where all that so-called FBS money went when we put in a bid to host a playoff game? Could've used it if you ask me.

So, i'm trying to decide if I am better off driving to Laramie to watch WSU beat the cowboys, or flying to Colorado to watch WSU spank the rams? Which do you all think would be the best game to go to out of these?

With the down turn of the economy, competition has really heated up on can collecting, also I am not sure if my moped could handle that drive 2 weeks in a row. Maybe if I added plasma donations to my can collecting then I could probably make both trips. Does anyone know if Greyhound goes to Ft. Collins?? :D

Weber put in a good bid for the postseason playoff games. Cal Poly totally bought that game and lost their shorts on it. The Weber bid was more than the minimum, but was fiscally responsible at the same time.

fiscally responsible?? Spoken like a true accountant... lol

ISU's schedule

Road games: Weber, Sacramento State, Montana State and Northern Arizona.
Home games: Montana, Eastern Washington, Portland State and Northern Colorado.

OOC: Montana Tech, Arizona State

1 more to schedule. Right now, Idaho State is going to play at North Dakota

Idaho State is planning to exercise the buy-out clause in its contract with North Dakota, which would cost it $25,000. So for now, the Bengals are scheduled to play a November contest at home against Cal Poly.

Weber had initially agreed last fall to play North Dakota in 2009 in Grand Forks in November, presumably the first part of a home-and-home. Unfortunately, they backed out in order to secure another home game for '09. They are negotiating to move the Idaho St. game from September to one of the November open dates and bring in someone for another home game the ealry part of the season.

Well then that means...

Sep 5: @ Wyoming
Sep 12: @ Colorado State
Sep 19: ISU
Sep 26: @ PSU
Oct 3: MSU
Oct 10: @ EWU
Oct 17: SAC
Oct 24: @ UNC
Oct 31: @ UM
Nov 7: OPEN
Nov 14: NAU
Nov 21: OPEN

Should there be an open before Sep 5??

Has anyone heard who who they are trying to get to fill one of these open spots? I sure hope they try to schedule Nov 7 rather then Nov 21. It would be nice to see the a large crowd that isn't worried about the ybu(faggie color thief) Utah game. In fact that date should always be a bye or road game.
