2009 Schedule

After the A$$ beating that we gave their basket ball team, with the under achieving Jordan Hasket, what else do they have to do all winter? Suck on some beer and say "wait till football season."

Hey be nice to the Griz fan...his team has after all lost 3 straight to us overall and 5 in a row in Ogden.

Tinkle can't stop Rahe who is 4-1 vs Lurch.

The thing is Montana is the Weber State of Big Sky football and Weber State is the Weber State of basketball! LOL!

Well I guess Weber is turning into the Weber State of football now...WSU will win in Mulletville come October.

In the rankings prior to the game we will see WSU with a FBS win and UM with a win over Mullet Tech of Montana oh and UC-Davis...are they NAIA?

Weber State plays Wyoming the week before UW plays Texas. I think the Cowboys are going to overlooking the Wildcats and will start the season off with 2 losses. CSU plays Nevada after playing WSU.

ISU's schedule

Road games: Weber, Sacramento State, Montana State and Northern Arizona.
Home games: Montana, Eastern Washington, Portland State and Northern Colorado.

OOC: Montana Tech, Arizona State

1 more to schedule. Right now, Idaho State is going to play at North Dakota

Idaho State is planning to exercise the buy-out clause in its contract with North Dakota, which would cost it $25,000. So for now, the Bengals are scheduled to play a November contest at home against Cal Poly.

It looks like Cal Poly will travel to Weber State, thanks to ISU adding Oklahoma to its 2009 schedule. The TV news reported ISU will receive $550,000 for playing in Norman.

http://www.pocatelloshops.com/new_blogs/sports/?p=4408

"...Idaho State will be playing Oklahoma on Sept. 12 for a guarantee of about $500,000."

"As for Idaho State’s game with Cal Poly, Tingey asked around the conference and found out Weber State still needed a game to complete its schedule, so the three schools have worked out an agreement for Cal Poly to play at Weber instead. Idaho State will be paying Cal Poly $30,000 for its travel expenses to get to Ogden, Utah, as it would have had to if the Mustangs had come to Pocatello. But Idaho State won’t have to pay a $150,000 buyout."

Interesting... Anybody remember the last time the Mustangs came to Stewart Stadium? That's a game I won't soon forget.

Some things are simply self-evident... And by the way, when that teddy bear fan said "There's perhaps another?" he was referring to another grisly basketball loss this season for um at the hands of the Wildcats.

Assuming UM makes the big sky tourney we could deal them another and another...

Last year we went 3-0 vs MSU.

From a well placed source this morning, the Cal-Poly game should be played on Nov. 21. There will not be a game before we play Wyoming. The only night home game is going to be ISU.

Sac St schedule:

Sept 5th- @ UNLV
Sept 12th- OPEN
Sept 19th- OPEN
Sept 26th- Eastern Washington
Oct 3rd- @ Portland State
Oct 10th- Idaho State
Oct 17th- @ Weber State
Oct 24th- Montana
Oct 31st- Northern Arizona
Nov 7th- @ Northern Colorado
Nov 14th- @ Montana State
Nov 21st- UC-Davis

Well, then, the final piece is in the puzzle. Here is the unofficial 2009 Weber State Football schedule, perhaps the best schedule in the Big Sky, with two FBS opponents, two top 10 foes, and a fifth top 20 opponent:

Sep 5: @ Wyoming (FBS - 122nd in the final Sagarin ratings)
Sep 12: @ Colorado State (FBS - 73rd in the final Sagarin ratings)
Sep 19: ISU
Sep 26: @ PSU
Oct 3: MSU
Oct 10: @ EWU (121st in the final Sagarin ratings, which is 18th among FCS teams)
Oct 17: SAC
Oct 24: @ UNC
Oct 31: @ UM (National Runners-up; #2 in the final TSN poll, #62 in the final Sagarin ratings)
Nov 7: OPEN
Nov 14: NAU
Nov 21: Cal Poly (#10 in the final TSN poll; 97th in the final Sagarin ratings, which is 11th among FCS teams)

All these games are winnable for Weber State, but playing Montana, Colorado State, and Wyoming on the road will be very difficult.

IMO, the most difficult games, grouped in order of difficulty, will be:

1. Montana
Colorado State (tie)
3. Cal Poly
Eastern Washington, Wyoming (tie)
6. Montana State
Northern Arizona (tie)
8. Sac State
9. Portland State
10. Northern Colorado
11. Idaho State

Cal Poly lost their coach, star QB and star receiver, they really are supposed to be way good again?

I think they are going to be difficult only because the option is not something WSU plays against all the time. If the players follow the game plan and keep their assignments they will win.

Just have to play smart.

Hopefully Cal Poly returns all their starting secondary. I'm not opposed to watching the passing clinic again this next year.

Rumor on the Sac State board is that they will travel to SLO to play Cal Poly on Sept. 12th.
