2014 Recruiting

This is turning out to be a solid recruiting class. I like it! However, it's a bit concerning that these players are coming to UNC because of the coaches. I hope they all realize that baring a miraculous season (.500 or above) this coaching staff won't be around much longer. Never to go to a school because of the coaches because they come and go at every school. Reasons to pick a school: 1. Academics 2. Tradition.

Agree completely. I believe it will take an incredible turn around next season for coaches to stick around. Hopefully the kids are choosing UNC because of what a degree can do for them over the next 40 years and not what the coaches can do for them over the next 4 or 5 years.

Per a tweet by Reggie Long II, UNC offered yesterday afternoon. He is a 6-0 215 lbs LB out of Whitehouse, TX. Currently rated 2 stars by Rivals. He also has offers from Army, Navy, Air Force,New Mexico State and Central Arkansas. According to a Varsity Prep tweet he is currently showing that he has high interest in Central Arkansas but not the Academies.

What makes this interesting is that late last night, Reggie tweeted again and all it said was "#UNCBears"

I think there is a small window of opportunity here, but it is probably still a long shot. He would be a huge get for the Bears. Kid has a high motor and is very physical.

Senior Year Stats- 92 Tackles, 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 INTs, and 1 TD.

Christopher Flynn (6-0, 180 lbs, 4.45 forty) a CB out of LA Southwest College tweeted that he has narrowed his list down to UNC, Southern Utah and Indiana State.

Looks like he has pretty decent cover skills and closing speed. Something that was sorely lacking last season. Would be a nice pick up for this class.

Figure Larry Kerr has something to do with his recruitment since he just came out of the LA community college system as well.

Looks likes Charles Jones is on board. Welcome to the blue and gold.

Christopher Flynn committed to Southern Utah. However, he posted a tweet yesterday that said his Safety was going to UNC. Haven't tracked down who it is yet.

That's too bad. Anyone who just watches our videos from last seasons games will notice teams like ISU play catch against our db's. They were some of the worst i've seen suit up for the Bears.

Appears Charles Jones has changed his mind and will head to Tulane.

Okay, never mind. It's too bad we even offered this kid. He's wanting a UCLA offer after he had an official visit there. I don't blame him for that, but he admits he will use UNC as a springboard and transfer to a bigger program later. Pull the offer. Get a guy who wants to play here for four years. gesh...what's gotten into kids? :ohno:

I think he is probably like a lot of the kids that go to an FCS program. They come in believing that they should be playing at the FBS level, think they are going to come in and tear it up as freshman and then transfer. Unfortunately for them it doesn't typically workout that way.

He is probably in for a dose of reality when he gets to school and finds out that he is now just another athlete not a star.
