2015 Recruiting - 18 Verbals - Updated 2/3

Juarez is rough, but the amount of violent crime right here in Spokane is bad too. Since January, 2013, there have been 39 homicides https://www.google.com/fusiontables...gh4U3EI06Nt2x25NXhh2FW5S2bi5OgU8_6w#rows:id=1 in Spokane after the most recent on Saturday. We also have one of the highest crime rates of all Washington cities http://www.usa.com/rank/washington-state--crime-index--city-rank.htm?hl=Spokane&hlst=WA. Sad but true.

Good thing the campus is in Cheney, and not Spokane. ;)

With regards to crime in Spokane, it makes sense that it would be high on that list considering it's the state's second largest city. But with the exception of a few areas, I've never really not felt safe in Spokane...and espexially not after having lived in the South for an extended period of time.

Anyway, back to recruiting - not much news from this weekend it seems. Was hoping to hear about some verbals but not a lot out there about how the officials went. Looks like Jayson Williams is still undecided, maybe holding out for a Pac-12 offer. QB Kavika Johnson will be taking his official visit to UCONN this weekend.

Slow and steady I guess. Signing day can't get here soon enough.

Arghhh! WR Braylin Scott committed to the Colorado State Bobo's.

I checked on this with a mutual friend of his family and mine that is close to him. The report is not correct. He is split 50/50 on CSU and Eastern. He loves the Eagles and my contact feels we have a real edge because we like him as a WR, and they only want him as a DB.

He will be visited soon by our staff.

I will also add the recent reports of OL Tristen Taylor verbal to UNLV is also not true. He is still a possibility for the Eags!

I don't know what your connections are, but I'm glad to see the inside info. Thanks for the updates!

Tristen Taylor is showing up as an EWU verbal on rivals.

I apologize, I got the names mixed up. It was actually Jacobsen who changed his verbal to UNLV and not Taylor. As far as I know Taylor is still an EWU verbal but did take a trip to UNLV this past weekend. I haven't heard anything more about Kavika Johnson but it appears the initial reports that he had given a verbal on his UTEP trip may have been premature.

It ain't over until it's over, damnit!

J/K - That probably wraps that one up. Hope the news on Mcpherson is accurate.

I'm with ya Ranger. Truly thought this player could be the next "special" player for EWU. CSU has to reload on offense this upcoming season. Not sure what Bobo will bring to the table as HC; he was an average OC at Georgia for the past thousand years. :ohno:

We did not offer Allen. Not sure of all the details why but my guess is perhaps he already has his mind made up about going elsewhere. I really like this prospect though and would love to see him land here.

Just got word Bothell RB Sam McPherson committed to Eastern today. Pretty sweet. Turned down most other Big Sky schools.

Really great kid and impressive runner. Reminds me of Jim Kiick or Tommy Vardell. (Am I dating myself?)

I promise you all it's not over yet! We have our best men on this one. My family contact still says 50/50 between EWU and Colorado State. The QB and WR are top priorities from what I'm hearing. The rest of the 2015 recruits have come together and seem solid. Coach B and the staff are all over it.
I did see this in the link article that keeps my hopes up:

"Scott was offered a scholarship by former CSU coach Jim McElwain and made his decision to commit to the Rams after a visit last week by new Rams coach Mike Bobo, he told the Bakersfield Californian newspaper. Rivals.com reported that offensive coordinator Will Friend and cornerbacks coach Terry Fair accompanied Bobo on the visit.
Scott had a basketball game Tuesday evening and couldn’t be reached for comment."

So maybe the coaches came and tried to pressure him before he was really ready to decide, and he passively agreed. I feel good that our coaches will get the last visit with him this week. It's also a little telling that he didn't officially comment on his "decision". Even if he had a basketball game he could have called back after to confirm, which is standard practice for this type of thing. I still say he's wide open. (pun intended)
I suspect if he did choose Colorado State they may allow him to play WR instead of where they originally wanted him (DB) but that's only a guess. I spoke to the close family friend the same day the announcement was posted.

GROUND&POUND,
You and EWURanger have some great insights on the Recruits. Next week Wednesday at noon Feb 4th, 15, Northern Quest, "Pend Oreille Pavilion", we will know exactly who we are getting as our Recruits. Hope to see many of you there if you are not at your jobs. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Vic Wallace
