2015 Recruiting

According to Twitter St. Bonaventure TE Johnny McGill has committed to Sac State.

Be careful with school designations, SloStang. You had me looking all over the NCAA for St. Bonaventure University. I didn't think they even had a football team; they ARE, in fact, a I-AAA school in the A-10.

Should have known you meant Ventura-St. Bonaventure HS. He DOES appear to be a good recruit. The way he walled off the defender on that seam route in his highlight package linked from the Twitter feed seems like just what the doctor ordered. Not that we have any short quarterbacks at Sac State these days, but as a former wannabe short quarterback, I rather strongly subscribe to the theory that says "Always hit the Y," in large part because the Y is generally a large target close to the line of scrimmage. That's always a plus when your quarterback doesn't have all that much of an arm. This guy also appears to have some speed for the deep routes when we DO have a QB who can throw the home run ball. Glad we got him....

Seriously? Ventura County football power house St.Bonnie wasn't your first thought? WTH?

With less than 2 weeks to go to signing day it appears the Hornets got another commitment from a 2 star recruit from Southern California Tyree Thompson a defensive end/outside linebacker. From his highlights he seems to have good speed and he gets off the line quickly. Looks like a nice pick up for the Hornets.

Looks like Samuel Whitney (Folsom) has backed out of his commitment after getting a late offer from Boise State...

According to news10 Boise State made an offer to Sam Whitney. Sam will take an official visit to Boise State this weekend so he is probably on his way to Boise.. Lets hope he wants to stay home and play in front of family and friends but I would not blame him if he took the scholarship from Boise.

It's hard not to accept an offer from Boise from a football standpoint. Big football schools has struck again. Thanks for the update Hornet Fever.

Looks like they are offering a gray shirt and he'll visit this weekend. Can't blame him if he takes it. That's a hell of a program and opportunity...Sac will be here if things don't work out, as often is the case. The truth is that it would probably be a year or two before he was contributing regularly anyway, even at Sac.

I spoke w/#BoiseState grayshirt DE offeree Samuel Whitney (@sam_samwhit) today. Great kid with a ton of potential. He'll visit this weekend.

Looks like we offered a tall 3 star QB:

#D1Bound Nation. ‏@SportsRecruits Jan 25
NEW OFFER! #SacState Nate Ketteringham (6'4 195) 2015 QB Senior Highlights. Congrats! @Nate_ketter6 #D1Bound http://youtu.be/NgsSo6EC3bc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Didn't check entire thread to see if this one has been listed already. According to the prep-sports reporter for the Press Enterprise- Inland Empire (inland SoCal)- a DB from the IE has committed to Sac St. There are also several IE players listed with hornet offers.

It looks like Sam Whitney is real excited about Boise State football which is understandable.. I did not realize he was a 3 star recruit. The only potential hangup is the grayshirt offer...it sounds like he wants to play right away... with a gray shirt you can be out of football for 2 years.. Heres hoping that he is still a Hornet come next Wednesday.

I had two friends lured by big schools with gray shirt offers like this and neither ever saw the field... I get the no brainier of Boise State over us, but there's a big time risk involved...

Honestly, if he took the Boise deal, I wouldn't be shocked if he was back at Sac State in a couple of years. Sounds like playing time is a big deal, and he's not gonna see the field for at least two years.

Who's to say there will be a scholarship available for him here in 1 or 2 years? I don't blame him for taking a shot at a gray shirt at the best non-P5 FB program in FBS. Best of luck to him.

Sounds like a risk for Adams. No telling how fast he can learn Oregon's system, how he will adjust to better opponents week after week and how much playing time he will end up with. At least at Eastern he has a secure stage to show scouts what he can do.
