2016 Recruiting: 19 Verbals (Known) *Updated 2/2*

Looks like we offered a preferred walk-on spot for John Lesser QB/RB from Liberty Christian. I'm surprised he hasn't been offered a ride by someone, he was one of the best all time for small schools.

John Lesser QB/RB
Liberty Christian, Richland WA
5-10 185

Player of the year Class 1B

Add a really good QB to the list:

Eric Barriere QB

Could be the next VA

Great highlights, but he looks really short in those videos. As in, maybe shorter than Vernon Adams kind of short.

QB Eric Barriere 6'0 190 La Habra, CA (La Habra HS) EWU Verbal 3-Star
RB Antoine Custer 5'8 176 Concord, CA (De La Salle HS) EWU Verbal 3-Star
OL Conner Crist 6'3 305 Tigard, OR (Tigard HS) EWU Verbal 3-Star

WR Xavier James 6'2 170 Buckeye, AZ (Verrado HS) EWU Verbal 2-Star
WR Kyle Olson-Urbon 6'0 190 Gig Harbor, WA (Gig Harbor HS) EWU Verbal 2-Star
DT Tre Neal 6'3 245 Hermiston, OR (Hermiston HS) EWU Verbal
OL Jake Blackburn 6'3 260 Newbury Park, CA (Newbury Park HS) EWU Verbal
OL Nick Blair 6'7 310 Everett, WA (Everett HS) EWU Verbal
OL Derek Dyer 6'4 290 Kennewick, WA (Kennewick HS) EWU Verbal
TE Talolo Limu-Jones 6'5 185 Modesto, CA (Grace Davis HS) EWU Verbal

It's a little concerning that we've only signed ONE player that is being looked at to play on defense. Where are the linebackers and defensive backs? I am also wondering why we have only signed 3 players total from the state of Washington while schools like Idaho State have signed at least 11 already. The strength of our program used to be in-state recruiting ties and picking up those kids that didn't make it to the Pac-10 level but could easily plays at the FCS level or lower end of FBS. But now it seems like we've gone exclusively to Cali for skill positions players.

None of these players have been signed. These are players who have unofficially committed to play at Eastern. It kind of makes sense that the best defensive players aren't verbally committing to EWU, because we have yet to prove that we can field a good defensive scheme. We will see what kind of defensive players are signed on Feb 3rd.

My guess is Idaho State is taking kids that aren't major targets for us. They have offered a lot of guys we've tried to redshirt in the past. Sorensen was a good example; we looked at trying to get him to walk on with a chance to partial, they offered him a full schollie. Plus, lately we've been known for stealing a couple kids late in the game.

But yeah, I agree, it's weird to see so few kids with defensive positions.

We need one defensive tackle with some gusto!!!

I've seen on various sites him listed anywhere from 5'10 to 6'0.

On video, he doesn't look shorter than VA to me.

This. A lot of the guys they are signing and giving full rides to are guys we would traditionally try to partial. Most kids, if they have an option to stay in state with a full ride, they are going to stay in state. But if a school like ISU is going to pay for their entire education, then it's kind of a no-brainer.

Anyway, there will be several more verbals from players in the great state of Washington, rest assured.

Blackburn is a 2 star on Rivals...just trying to help you list a bit... :thumb:

FB Withdrawal, I was starting to get that feeling, until today I went to Campus and saw approximately 40-45 Players going 7 on 7. It felt so damn great to see some of our Players on the Red Turf. Keep this young man from Central Valley in mind, #95 Beau Byus, TE. That young man has some great hands. Saw some new Players which I was unable go get their names. All three QBs were throwing very hard and far. Just ran off the old Roster, so I can have something to write on the next time I go out. Felt good seeing FB on the Turf. Well next Wednesday is NLI for our Recruits, which will be televised on SWX C-6,locally. Will miss this one, the first one missed in many years. 7 a.m. comes very early for that Breakfast, will stay home and watch with sharp eyes 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-). Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Hi Vic;
Is there a schedule for the 7 on 7's or you just have "insider" info?
FYI the NLI breakfast is in the big room just inside the door by parking garage. Very little smoke to walk through.
See you at hoops tomorrow.

Jason Talley is the younger brother of Jordan Talley, ex-Running Back. Jordan is ready to graduate and become a Doctor. BTW Saw Chris Cwick at MBB Game couple of weeks ago, Joey Cwik, his brother is a Doctor someplace in Kansas. Chris is now a Fire Fighter for Cheney Fire Department, Chris completed the Fire Academy a few months ago. I am sure most of you remember Joey, Hell of a line Backer a few years. He had an opportunity to go with New Orleans Saints, he opt out for him become a Doctor. Vic Wallace

I am hearing that Barriere may have flipped. Expect to know more in the next 24 hours.
That would be very disappointing, hope it does not happen.
Hawaii is still on his Twitter page. If a guy goes that far away it really limits his friends and family being able to see him play.
