It's a little concerning that we've only signed ONE player that is being looked at to play on defense. Where are the linebackers and defensive backs? I am also wondering why we have only signed 3 players total from the state of Washington while schools like Idaho State have signed at least 11 already. The strength of our program used to be in-state recruiting ties and picking up those kids that didn't make it to the Pac-10 level but could easily plays at the FCS level or lower end of FBS. But now it seems like we've gone exclusively to Cali for skill positions players.

There's a direct correlation between our success in the past 5-10 years and an increased ability to recruit California more heavily. And we have a great recruiting base there...particularly in NorCal. Not sure why we would abandon that.

The backbone of the program will always be blue collar kids from Washington...but you're not going to win a lot of games just recruiting in-state.

I wasn't suggesting that we shouldn't recruit players from out of state. That's obviously not an option. But if all things are equal, we should always go after the in state player. I just don't want to see us end up like WAZZU, who hardly recruit any kids from Washington.

Looks like we can add another Offensive commit

I suspect a lot of kids from Washington that haven't been mentioned here sign this week. If a kid isn't active in covering his own recruitment, it's hard to know where they're at.

I'd add this about California... we are a Washington program first and foremost. We always field a ton of Washington players. But the competition for decent kids in the state is fierce. We can pull a similar caliber of kid out of California where the population is much greater and there are comparably few places to play DI football. While we're at our best when our heart and body are in Washington, it helps to have a leg and an arm from California.

it seems every signing day, there are several in state commits that none of the recruiting sites ever knew we offered them (Kurt Calhoun is the first in my head). I'd expect that the majority of new verbals on signing day are all in-state. WA state is the life blood of EWU football

Another commitment from defensive lineman, Jay-R Mataia, from Vancouver.

To All,
Attended the Football Banquet on Saturday evening, one of the Biggest Crowd I have seen in 17 years attending. Met some of the Parents, and their young Sons (Players). Spoke to some of the Coaches, we had approximately 8 Committed Players. Saw some of them going to the Book Store, and then going to see Coach Beau. It was kind of sad to see the Seniors attending their last Banquet at EWU. :( :( :( :( : Was a very long day for myself and daughter, we went to the MBB Game and then sat in our vehicle, and listen to music from 2;30 pm to 4:30 p.m. Good thing I have some very outstanding "SOUL MUSIC" to listen to ;) ;) ;) ;) ;). Vic Wallace

To All,
According to couple of Coaches, QB Eric Barriere is still coming. I met these two individuals while sitting in my car at the PUB, waiting for the FB Banquet, OL Derek Dyer, 6'4" 290, and WR Kyle Olson-Urbon, both seemed like they are very happy they will be coming to EWU. Another gentleman last name of Chism LB will be walking on, didn't get his school. Had approximately 2000 attended the MBB Game. Hope the team does better this week on the road this week. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

EWURanger,
DL Keith Moore had offers from WSU, PSU, and UTEP. This young man could be a great addition. We just lost two Defensive Players, it looks like we will be getting three. Ones lost are Todd Raynes, Jake Gall. Those two young men will be greatly missed. Heard from Todd Saturday night at the Banquet, he might try the PRO Day, and is hoping for the SEAL later. He wants to become a Navy Seal very bad. With Todds determination, he will make the Seal. Jake Wants to be a Fireman like his Dad, he will also make it. Just hope all concerned get their education, and do what ever they wants. Good Luck to both of you, and all Seniors. Vic Wallace

To All,
Of all that I have been hearing, we could come out with approximately 16-18 Recruits, will wait and see. Wednesday am, is in two more days away. Will be watching TV SWX. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

To All,
Spoke with WR Nic Sblendorio on Saturday, he had just gotten back from surgery on his left shoulder, he stated he will be back for the start of FB Season. Hoping he is correct. This young WR is coming into his own, and will be great on the field. He also runs great routes. Get Healthy Nic. Vic Wallace

joemon,
Spoke to Jordan Talley on Saturday, he stated his brother is looking forward to coming to EWU. Jordan said his brother is a little bigger than himself. Jordan is not a little dude, I noticed him at the banquet, he is very well put together. BTW he reminds me of my body before age started setting in ;) ;) ;) ;) ;). Can't wait for Wednesday to get here. Vic Wallace

There was another in-state commit tonight...trying to fogure out who.

It is Keith Moore of Olympic HS. GREAT GET FOR EWU. per Northwest Prep Report

Just saw that...awesome pickup! The coaches were tweeting about an in-state safety that gave a verbal last night as well. Not sure who though.

In reference to Barriere, his twitter says Cheney, WA as location. Don't want to read to much into things, but...I'd say he's a pretty strong verbal at this point. :thumb:

Hello EWU fans! I'm Brian McLaughlin with HERO Sports (Twitter @BrianMacWriter)

Wanted to say two things: MAJOR props to your fan forum here. I was looking for a thorough list of EWU recruits for the published article below and 247 didn't have one, Rivals didn't ... but your forum did. I gave you full props for filling in the gaps I had on my database. Probably 4 or 5 of the recruits below are there just because of this thread and backchecking their Twitter accounts to make sure they're still on board.

We're HERO Sports. Maybe some of you have heard of us. I had a feature on Cooper Kupp two months ago and got to know his family. AMAZING people. We will be all over EWU and the Big Sky next year and happen to be based out of Seattle (even though I'm in Florida).

We hope to win you EWU fans over with FCS-o-centric coverage. We would love to work in conjunction with FCS fan boards all over the country and have a diehard, grassroots style of coverage and interaction. This is an outstanding brand of football and we're going to be all over it in 2016.

Lastly -- Eric Barriere, your incoming QB? GREAT kid.
