2017 Recruiting: 19 Verbals - Updated 01/31

There's two or three players that I believe have given verbal commitments that haven't been included here. We'll have to see how the final list shakes out when all is said and done but I think Eagle Nation will be quite happy with this recruiting class.

Curious, can anyone remember the last time we recruited a JC kid who received a scholarship? I look at some of these other schools' lists and many include JC transfers. I have no recollection of us pulling in a JC kid in at least a decade. I know we had a walk on QB who came here on an aid package maybe 6 or 7 years ago, but wasn't an impact player.

I'm wondering if the coaches are still interested in getting Omar Dyles when he finishes wherever he went. In general, we seem to get far fewer transfers than most other Big Sky schools.

other than the Qb you mentioned whose name I cannot recall, I dont remember any JC transfers in recent years. over the years I recall CBB stating he doesn't really believe in building a program around JCs.

So far the 247Sports calc score for this class stands at 66.26. Never seen the like of this before. Not saying the baseline hasn't moved for recruiting track sites like this, but pretty darned impressive. Idaho shows a 23..... ;)

This class is awesome so far BUT.

We already have one offensive lineman and one defensive lineman in this class and we recruited both of those heavily last year.

Oh I know. I think we should try to get at least 1 or 2 more on both sides of the ball though.

Yah we need more size on the D line. Hopefully one of those defensive ends we've offered gives a verbal soon.

Any word on how the Griz is faring this year? It has been awhile since UM has made the semi's, wonder how that will affect recruiting as well as their drop in enrollment can't help their football budget unless Mr Washington continues to write checks.

Also, wonder how Idaho is doing? Their scholarship limit drops from 85 to 53 in 2018.

It shouldn't be that hard for Idaho to get down to 63 scholarships. I read somewhere recently that they are only in the low 70's for full scholarships so natural attrition over the next couple of years should get them down to where they need to be to be eligible for the FCS playoffs.

They were around 73 a year or two ago. I'm not certain if that was because of APR reductions or what the deal was. Apparently they will be down to 63 and eligible for the playoffs starting the 2018 season.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if we didn't sign at least one or two more offensive linemen and at least one more defensive lineman. That said, we lose 11 Seniors this year and have already received that number in verbals so I'm not sure how many scholarships are remaining to play with at this point.

This will probably be one of the smaller recruiting classes in recent years depending on how they allocate partial vs. full scholarships.

Coastal is moving up to the FBS, they may even be a member next year so I wouldn't count them...

81 for FBS, 63 for FCS.

And it looks like their list is missing verbals from two star recruits Matt Shook and Anthony Leiato as well as Chris Ojoh.

As a general statement would you say the Eagles strengths lie in the skill players or in the big guys up front, on either side of the ball?

Fat guys on the front line of the O are going to be a force for the next several years.

I'd agree our OL looks to be a team strength for the foreseeable future. I'd also say historically our best players have been OL. That said, our team strength over recent years has been QBs and receivers.

We really need to get the DL up to that same standard. Obviously, we're moving in the right direction. Hopefully we take a huge lap forward next year.
